Lesson for Importers! Don't buy from DHGate!

I don't know! I guess people are hoping they are going to get a great deal on DHGate.

I keep hearing stories about people getting scr@wed buying from Asia.

Then I come on here and implore members to stop giving their money away to
Asian charities.

But then someone thinks they got a great deal and they have exchanged emails
with Lou from the province of Shenga. And Lou tells them the items are real and not to worry just hurry up and send out the wire transfer because he is almost out and only has 10 left.

So you hurry out to your bank and spend 15$ to send this money wire or Western Union money gram ( Also known as the money grinder) and come back here and say hey! I just sent out 1500.00 dollars to some guy out in Asia land. Boy, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. When questioned, you say well he told me they were real. He promised me!! Oh yea the 300 solid 24k bracelet he assured me was real. Or the Wlls or the DVDs or the Jordan sneakers etccccc...........

Then, a month later we hear back from someone. They tell this horror story about how eBay pulled their listings and Paypal pulled their funds and refunded the buyers and how they now have 5 negs in a row and are now suspended from eBay.

I will say this again and Jimmy really should put a sticky up about this.

DO NOT SEND MONEY WHETHER MONEY WIRE OR PAYPAL PAYMENTS TO SOMEONE YOU HAVE SPENT A TOTAL OF 5 EMAILS GETTING TO KNOW!

Its incredibly foolish!

The only exception would be if you could use a credit card through Paypal. You can then file a dispute with your credit card company and then Paypal has to give you your money back.

Even with that said, DON'T DO IT!!!

Personally, I do business with a company in Asia. But I researched them and then sat back and waited a month. Then after I saw this business was on the up and up I went for it. And I am happy I did.

You can use Whois and Alexa to look at a company. And if you can get feedback from other users of that company, you can look at doing business with them.

Please guys. Save yourself very big problems and don't do business this way.

I recently have heard of someone saying they are going to have to go bankrupt due to a dealing in Asia.

Every time someone loses a chunk of money in Asia thats more money taken out of our economy and thrown into a 3rd world market. no offense.

But this is money that could be generating income here in the states.

DHgate is the best marketplace in Asia!

planes, I´m afraid you don´t know anything about making business with Asia and especialy DH gate.

You are just writing bullshit. I guess you are a 'newbie' and we are all newbees from the beginning.
When you have decided to import some interesting products from DH gate or some other marketplace you have to start to send some inquire to different suppliers.

You can also check up the suppliers feedback, reed what other people say about the supplier.
Don´t forget if the price is to low and if everything sounds to good, you have to be carefull because it could be a copy they offering.

You can also ask them if it is replicas or 100% original and in 99% they will answer you honest.
Don´t worry about the payment, you pay through a tird part called escrow. Escrow keep the payment untill you have left your approval. If you are not satisfied with the deal, just contact the supplier and if it doesent help, open an dispute and you will be refund.
At last some good advices: Dont think that you can buy different brands for 1/10 $ and think that you have found a goldmine, almost all brands in Asia are replicas but they are moste of the time very good. It is illegal to import them but everyone does it.
Don´t only look for brands like cellphones, cameras, clothes etc. DHgate has thousands of other high quality products.
I have never ever maked so good profit since I started import from Asia and it´s 4 years now.

Happy New Year!

To Artpants, I pray you find new hope. It's out there! As long as you breath there is always hope and answers just around the corner. I know it appears hopeless but rather you know Him or not thats when Jesus works best. Call on Him and He willl answer. Possibly in ways you never thought possible. Your life is valuable to Him. Be blessed & restored!

Its funny how you are new to this site but know everything. Read around here.
There are a lot of people being taken by DHgate and other Asian scammers out there.
Go to other forums and read up about it yourself. Or research scam.com and ripoff report.com as well as many other forums.
99% percent of Asian sellers online will rip you off by either not shipping the item;saying an item is real and then sending a fake;sending a partial shipment etc etc... .

Yes there are good Asian sellers but you have to dig through the hundreds of scam artists. And DHGate is notorious for having criminals posing as legitimate sellers.
Have you been there lately or are you talking out of your a$$ ?

Maybe you are a seller who is angry because I don't put up with the crap from scammers in Asia. Or put up with the other sellers who come here with terrible pricing.

And I am sorry you feel you have to commit crimes to make money.

I certainly would not want to be one of your customers that orders a Taylor Made driver from you, when it should be called Tailor made because some irresponsible scumbag thinks its ok to commit crimes because 'everyone does it'

You've shown your true colors bub.

There aren't any my friend. You can sell mp3 players that look like and are in many ways as good as ipods but you can't say ipod in you description.

Make sure you get a good enough price as many people are selling them with a starting bid of .99 and free shipping. The players end up selling for 15 to 25 $.

SO you have to find a good supplier and in bulk.

A lot of places show prices you might think are good but they are not. Its just that the pricing looks so much better than Ipods.

This never stops amusing me, why on earth do so many people think that you can buy cheap branded products from China?

It's completely bizarre!

I hear you Fudjj. I think we get so hardened from watching this happen to so many people, we lose track that many people that come here and to other forums
are completely green.

Sort of like lambs to a wolf party.

Spot on Planes, but where do they all get this misconception about China from?

I mean it doesn't seem to be something we are born with, yet somehow so many people develop this theory about China being the land of brand name bargains.

Maybe some newbies can enlighten me a little, someone who has that theory themselves and can tell us all where on earth they got it from, because I have absolutely no idea!

Fudjj, I think people get this conception from the fact that most items are made in Asia, even the brand name items.
SO it's kind of easy to believe they can be bought by us since they are made there.

What people don't understand is when a big name wants something made, Let' s take Jordan sneakers, they provide only a certain amount of materials for the item to be made plus 10% for errors.

When the items are finished off in the plant there is always left over materials.

These materials are then many times made into the grey market by the plant to get extra profit from.

That is just one way. And those items are not legal to sell but are made by the plant for more profit.

This goes for clothing, handbags watches etc... .

Thats why a Fake Rolex is so hard to tell the difference from the real McCoy and many people can't tell the difference.

And that is why a Rolex listing gets pulled so fast and why eBay got into trouble with the Louis handbags.

I guess your right, but what people don't seem to understand is that branded items are made in China under license from the brand owner, and companies that have the contracts to deliver such work are held to pretty strict conditions by the brand owner.

Most things are made in China for the pure economics, but the manufacturing is controlled, as is the distribution of the branded products through the brand owners authorised distribution network.

People have to wake up sooner or later and realize that just because a product is manufactured somewhere, doesn't mean that you can buy the genuine item out side of the authorised channels, no matter what country in the world it is made in, China, USA, Oz....wherever!

I cannot begin to say how true this is. I bought NFL Jerseys, having no idea they were knock offs. I soon received a letter from a law firm in NYC demanding that I return the remaining jerseys that were in violation of copyright laws against Rebook/Adidas. ***********DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY*************

Hello members.

I was reading the headline 'Don´t buy from DH-gate' and I don´t understand why. I live in europe and I have been dealing with different suppliers at DH-gate for more then two years now and I have never had any problems with them.
You just have to find out which one of them you want to start dealing with. Send them a lot of e-mails ask them about the product and if they reply to you quick it´s a good start. You can also check up the feedback as they have.

Another thing is that don´t think that you can buy 100% genuine brands. 99.99 % of all brands are replicas even if the replicas are very good it´s very hard to sell them on e-bay, amazon, etc.

Cheers.

There are places for DHGate. Places like I OFFER are a good venue for selling certain things which only come from DH Gate. They have their place, as long as its not heavily branded or stealing a logo then fine.

Especially if its not branded DH Gate is great. But not ever on ebay and I wouldn't do anything like that. On Godaddy and I OFFER, yeah DH Gate has been perfect it fits that market.

Hello members.

I don´t understand people who can say that DHgate is bad. I have been dealing with them during three years now and I have never had any problems with them.
I placed an order last week and paid at the same time, after three days I got an email from my supplier, he told me that the shipping will be delayed so I just asked him to refund my money. After less than eight houres I got an email from Dhgate that they have refund my money and after three days I had my money on my bank account again. Could it be better?

Just a bit curious planes....DHgate has over 100,000 different sellers on it. I know people have been ripped off by some scammers but just like eBay with that amount of sellers there are bound to be bad eggs in the bunch.

In life we are quick to hear the negatives but how many successful transactions have happened on DHgate?

I haven't used DHgate but I wanted to put it out there that for every one person that gets ripped off there just may be many more that don't - who truly knows the stats on that?

In regards to your comment with Fudjj about how it amuses you both why people continue to think that they can buy cheap branded products from China.........this site is where I even got the initial idea. There are loads of Chinese suppliers listings stating exactly that 'cheap branded products'..

Perhaps you are hardened to watching all us 'greenies' making mistakes but I think it would be nice to see a little more advice given in a supportive manner. I am here to learn and would like to benefit from knowledge such as yours.

If you want to read advice given in a supportive manner from either planes or myself, I suggest you read through the forum, because we have given supportive advice till we are both green in the face for the last couple of years.

To be honest, I can't even see why anyone would take offence to what was written here by either planes or myself, we were trying to simply come to grips with what was going through peoples minds.

Having said that, sometimes it is much better to be blunt than to coddle around the place confusing half the members with the point you are trying to make.

In the last couple of years I couldn't begin to even think how many times I have seen members getting themselves into hot water with their buying expectations, and if someone like planes or I can say something that will make them stop and think before they get burnt, then quite frankly I don't personally give a tinkers-cus how it is said.

What is important to me is that the message gets out and saves someone from putting their faith in the wrong advice, and losing what little they have to start with because they have swallowed some of the garbage that floats around on the internet telling people just how easy the ride is going to be!

I'm sorry if you were offended by our apparent lack of compassion, but I don't do sugar coating very well, and my best guess is neither does planes.......even though he is the nicer one out of us two :)

Some members here dedicate their time to give advice to people like you in the hope that it will save you your time and money. Perhaps you could try concentrating on the message content itself, not worrying about the delivery of the message, and you will learn from everyone's experience a lot quicker, and get less offended along the way.

Seriously, if someone wants to be tucked into bed with a nice warm glass of milk, then read a bedtime story, this really isn't the place to find it. If someone wants to get some clear facts about online or offline trading, then I think this forum has some of the best advice getting around.

As for the listings in the directory, neither planes or myself own this place, and we have no power as to what rubbish gets listed in the directory, that is something you should take up with admin.

What we do have the power to do is to try and stop people from making MAJOR mistakes, and that is what most of us here do.

Fudjj is right. We have seen or read a lot of threads about buyers being taken by criminal sellers. Not only on Dhgate but even from right here in the states.
A recent one would be Kentucky Dreams and its owner Maurice Spaulding. I pointed this scammer out months ago and was told I was vindictive or had it out for this guy.

Actually, I think Fudjj is being nice to me as I probably tend to be more caustic in my posts then he.

There are good companies in China. I use one myself. But Dhgate has so many
criminals on its site that I'd rather err on the side of safety than have someone get ripped-off.

Fudjj offers a solution along with his reviews. He offers pallets of liquidated stock which ship in 48hrs anywhere in the US. Take him up on it. He has over 800 posts to this forum. GO through them. I don't think you will find a contradictive or vindictive post by him ever.
I have exchanged PMs and emails with him and always find a well thought out opinion from him.

Planes and Fudjj , are correct especially if you are planning on selling on Ebay ....If you dont get ripped off for your money , you may put your Ebay account in Jeopardy as alot of the stuff is bootleg . Than there is the Dredded Customs letter that your items were detained or you owe taxes on them and if you really sell alot like a guy i know with a certain sporting goods item- you may even have some guys in suits and a white car show up .
The problem is most people are like myself when i started and just want a simple quick whoelsale list to buy and sell or want to sell name brand items just like we are a store in the mall .. It is not that easy it took me 6 months of pounding the internet pavement to find legit wholesalers and i had a decent amount of money to work with .

if you need to dump the iPods that are copied and you got them at a great price, tear them apart! people need the parts (batteries, screens, faceplates, bodies, etc.) and at least make your money back. then learn your lesson and dont buy fake ipods anymore! I am a personal fan of DHGate but im with the rest of these guys, it takes skill to navigate them. I've got a whole series of postings on dhgate if you want to look it up by my username.

I would be interested to know which company you deal with. I did some research and found one which seems legitimate, but not sure (Link hidden: Login to view). Could you please give me your opinion.

I took a quick peek at the site and it looks pretty dhgate-ish. I dug through some of the features and they appear to be legit though its the first look and I have not used them. I noticed on some of the items that I sale that the prices are a tad higher than dhgate and the search results do not seem to be as good but they appear to have an escrow account which is a plus in my opinion, though without using them, I cant vouch for CS like I can dhgate. Also, and im kind of assuming that dhgate and alibaba are sort of leaders in the field but there are numerous china direct sites out there that probably have many of the same sellers hedging their bets on each site much like ebayers stretch out to bonanzle, craigslist and ebid. I'd follow the same advice a lot of us give for any site... research, educate, watch, compare and beware of the basic warnings.

Thanks for your input. I emailed LinkChina to ask them if the articles I was interested in was genuine and they replied back within a couple of hours to say that each seller on LinkChina signed a contract stating that they are aware of strict anti-piracy policies and the penalties they would encounter if the policy was violated. I guess the best thing for me is to jump in and order a small amount of product first and hope for the best. I'm really eager to get started.

Hi poochygirl,

We wish you the best of luck! We hope that the transaction will be completed smoothly.

But please be aware that it is next to impossible to get any authentic brand name products from Asian(let alone China). So it would be best that you require a certificate of authenticity of some form as proof that the products you are buying are for real. Or better yet do not expect them to be. The East is a great source for no-brand items but not so for the branded ones.

Again good luck! :)

hey poochy girl... ordering the small quantities first is THE best route to take but dont forget chinas bottom line is money. it does not matter with their laws what statement or form anyone has signed. and richelle is right, no name brands come from there.

The site itself seems to be quite genuine, no problems there, but you will have to treat it like any other Asian sourcing directory because you will be dealing with independent sellers.

You've been given some very solid advice above, and if you decide to listen to it, it will save you a lot of drama and money!

No matter what this company says their policy is, and no matter what each supplier agrees to, you just won't source cheap branded items from China, so if it's brand names your chasing, save yourself the time, effort and cash by not even trying.

Thanks for everybodies input. I'm taking your advice and am not going to deal with the Chinese market for brand names. Perhaps later on down the road I might try them for non-brand items, but for the moment I want to concentrate on selling designer sunglasses and perhaps handbags. I've found 2 sites that are promising and doing some special deals. I still feel intimidated, but have done a lot of research, comparisons etc., so now I will put all my hard work into practice.

gonna give a brief update on dhgate... most of my orders have been reorders so my tried and true products have gotten a great supply line from them. I did stretch out and try 2 new products. One turned out to be a copy (albeit a good one) but im not planning on selling them to anyone else but friends who wanted one anyway and the other was LED lights that im going to test the market with. Also, since my status has been raised as a buyer to 'silver' level, everything is shipping on the fly, havent had to test out their dispute process on this level yet, my suppliers that I have dealt with before are giving me discounts on reorder, upgrading my shipping from EMS to DHL, adding in samples of other products for free and ive started getting coupons to use on dhgate orders. STILL not saying go in blind and buy up a bunch of stuff, I have lost money, I started out small and in the end, I am coming out ahead. Be careful, test the waters, try it out, do your research and happy dhgating!!!

Anyone interested in an unbiased opinion of a supplier or a product from someone who wont take your idea, IM me if you need a second opinion.

tata for now!

had a reorder of some more led lights that wound up not shipping for whatever reason. Yesterday was the due date for the seller to provide me a tracking number and ship. They couldnt and refunded the money automatically the same day with no trouble or having to file a dispute.

I also had an order with an alibaba connection that I paid through paypal and I paid the transfer fees myself on my end. I knew I would owe them but the invoice that I was paying did not say what part of it was fees. I usually get another email saying I owed them on top of the invoice. But this guy was honest and sent me back the fees that he had factored into the cost automatically and without any trouble.

I agree that DHgate is about 90% scammers. But on the other hand, i have to say ive been using dhgate for one item for about a year, its an item that i sell on craighslist with good results. its not a branded item, but is better quailty than alot of the same items i see in local malls.

Sending large sums of money overseas is just plain foolish, just as is ordering large quanties of an item youve never seen!

If you are going to deal with DHgate, always order one peice first, just as a sample. if the seller will not sell you one peice, runnnnnnnnnnn.

DH isn't all that bad, some I had trouble with because they sent me the wrong items. I also found a couple good suppliers though, one that has their own site elitefashionstore.com and they've always been honest about there products and gave me exactly what i ordered.

there checkout is linked to paypal so if there is a problem i think it'll be easier to dispute it because if clearly shows you bought from their website.

Hello everyone,

For me, all of you can buy cheap china manufactured things but don't expect the item's programs run like the original.

I purchased a few things from china and make money from that, but 1 of 10 items I ordered are 'broken'. So its up to you, its your choice.

thanks
