Why is MegaGoods allowed on SaleHoo?

Any company that offers wholesale prices which can be beat by any online retail company is in my opinion a complete rip-off.
Every single item i looked up on this cos website was beat by at least 25% on every search I did at pricegrabber and alike sites.

I don't know why this company is allowed to advertise here.

Don't even waste your time looking at their site. A complete waste of time and energy.

Why someone would give this company any kind of kudos is beyond me.

I can give you 10 online retail websites you would do better buying from and many with low to free shipping.

Here are a couple sites that are legit sites and far superior.

buy.com
mpire.com
tigerdirect.com
walmart.com

If you re determined to still visit this lame company then go ahead.
But then type the model number into google search and see how much cheaper
you can get the item for.

Oh and don't fall for the trick that your paying for the dropship service. You can ship the item to yourself and then repack to your customer for much much less.

Ugh I hate companies like this.

Megagoods is not a online scam but they are not a true wholesaler. They are basically a retailer that dropships. I used them over the holidays to sell some of the new iPod Touch's.

Well they are a scam because they are listed here on Salehoo as a supplier which they shouldn't be.

None of their prices beat any online retailer. I'm sorry buts its just the truth.

I fall somewhere in between wholesalelist's and planes opinions on this one.

I don't believe they are a scam in the true sense of the word as even though they are expensive, they do supply stock as ordered. Having said that, I certainly don't consider them a wholesaler.

Perhaps I am misjudging them here, but do they sell in volume at a reduced price?

Seems to me that they are just a drop shipper, nothing more, nothing less, and with all drop shippers you need to shop around for the best price because 9 out of 10 times you are dealing with a broker.

Planes just because they are listed here on Salehoo as a supplier does not make them a scam. If you have a problem with Salehoo having them listed as a supplier then you need to contact Salehoo about this matter. Megagoods has nothing to do with that. Megagoods does not make you buy from them but if you choose to do so they ship the products out to your customers in a timely fashion and the products are exactly as described. They are not stealing customers money so please explain to me how you consider them a scam? If you go to two websites and one has cheaper prices than the other then do you consider the website with the higher prices to be a scam?????

I agree with you 101 Megagoods is far from being a scam they ship out in a timely fashion and they a a good company. (as a dropshipper)
Yes Fudjj you are correct you pay them a little more for bulk and they
give you a better price. They also let you see their pricing before you
sign up with them or spend anything.

The thing is and we have said this 1000s of times they are drop shippers nothing more and you don't get the best price from drop shippers does that mean they are a scam no way.

You do see that a lot in the listings here dropshipper/wholesale.

What a load of garbage, dropshippers are no more wholesalers than I am the pope. It just confuses the situation for inexperienced people, I don't even want to think how many times I see a question asking for a good dropshipper/wholesaler.

It's bad enough that we have brokers advertised as wholesalers, but seriously....wholesale/dropshipper, Who on earth invented that one?

Is it any wonder that some people get confused with where to source products from with all these insane titles these places are listed as.

Maybe it's just me, but I have never seen such a creature as a genuine wholesaler and dropshipper combined!

Does anyone actually know of such an animal, one that wholesales, and I mean genuine wholesale with volume discounts, as well as dropships?

I call them a scam because they misrepresent what they do.
It would be like Walmart saying they were dropshippers. Heck they have better prices.

And I sure many here would call it a scam.

Their watches I found to be about 25$ more than online retailers.

Their Zune about 10$ more

The only thing that they had from the 50 items I looked at which was lower than online retailers by about 12 $ was the PS3.

But I wonder what they charge for shipping?

Here is what they say on their landing page.

'Start Online Business! Sell on Ebay! Sell on Amazon! Stock your Internet Store!

We provide you with a large selection of brand name items at real wholesale prices. Our prices are so low you can start making money today!

MegaGoods.com is your direct online dropshipper with a very large selection of brand name items at TRUE wholesale prices.

We carry large selection of home electronics and household items that you can sell and start making real money without ever investing a single dollar in the inventory. '

Now I am sorry. If that is not a scam statement, I don't know what is.
They sell at real wholesale prices? You got to be kidding me. You can also tell
by their writing it is an Asian company so there goes any chance of a profit on PS3s when you have to pay for Asian shipping to the states.

maybe not because I might dropship Walmart items. Well not anymore since they added Paypal to thier payment process.

Asian writers always forget about the a's and the's.

I don't know what they charge for shipping but the USPS charges 110.00 bucks to send the item to Hong Kong.

Here is another one for newbies, Africans will usually start a sentance with Am, not I am.

Example, hello, am such and such from Wisconsin

That one might save you from a few Nigerian style scams

OK. Since I have some time right now and I am a little bored, I decided to do some research on Megagoods.com. I will be posting a main topic in suppliers of the same.

Megagood lists their address at 2741 S. Alameda ST LOS ANGELES CA.

Google earth has a neat little thing that lets you zoom into street level view.
You actually can see the street and all the buildings very very clearly. As if you are right there. The app. is free so anyone can do this. Believe me when I say you can read the parking signs.

After 20 minutes of roaming the street of S. Alameda, there IS NOT a 2741 S. Alameda. There is USI Floral Inc at 2910 S Alameda. And some sort of Solar company across the street on the odd side. Their sign is poorly made and I can't make it out. But I am pretty sure their address is 2579.

Now when I punch in 2741 it takes me to a 2759. There is NO 2741! And guess whats there???
An empty field. A completely barren grassy field taking up a whole block.

Now you can look yourself. Start at the solar company and see if theres anything in between them and the inport export business at 4109 called Cosstar. Nothing but grass.

Next, Megagood is also known as Universal Banner Network and getestore.com

Ok. Now I look up Getestores address. oh. And guess what? Another phantom
address. 1600 Naomi Ave. No such thing. hmm. Shows the middle of the street. So I say OK let me scan up and down the street. Nope nothing!

OK. Maybe this is just some kind of weird incident. I'll try Universal Banner Network. Maybe thats where they store the millions of dollars of incredible wholesale product. Oh yea I forgot at TRUE wholesale prices. Can't forget that.

Well looks like its a shared address with getestores address. 1600 Naomi.

I guess they have a super duper secret address where they store all their incredibly priced stuff.

OK. Now we have a company that has falsified its info to hosting sites.

Not real impressive for a supposed top tier Dropshipper Huh. A company with millions of dollars worth a true wholesale product.

They are supposed to drop ship for us and they don't even have a facility.

I will bet it is out of a storage unit or its actually an Asian company.
OR ONE GUY THATS GETTING RICH OF THIS SCAM!!

See, charge higher than retail prices, walk over to Newegg or Evertek. Both have a pickup window. Pick the stuff up and ship it.

Unless someone can give me legitimate data about this company and explain real good all the falsification of information I think its fair to call this company
one of the biggest scammers on the internet!

I think this is a fair statement. Don't you?

See what happens when I get bored? I really should keep myself more busy.

yes Google Earth is great. And really, I didn't think this was going to happen!

I thought OK. So maybe they are legit, just a terrible dropshipper.

Have to admit that I never doubted them because so many people use them, like you I just thought they were an expensive drop shipper....nothing unusual there of course, but that information you have turned up has really made me curious now.

I'm going to take a closer look myself when I get a moment.

It's also given me a new use for Google view, not just amusing myself by looking up my own driveway ; )

Yep, gotta love tax benefits.

I write off a room at home that I claim as an office, including a percentage of my utilities and net connection, even though I do all my work at my workshop.

Still trying to workout how to get a deduction for my pay TV connection : )

I apologize for saying you are a scam outfit. the truthful comment is you are not a wholesaler. the prices that are associated with megagoods is very high and not in the realm of wholesale. when we talk about discounts on overstocks and returns we talk about places like

Planes, thanks for doing all of that research.

I'll add another one to this thread since it didn't come up in the search engines: storeb2b.com (a new sister company of Megagoods.com)

for laughs, I did a whois lookup and it listed it's address as:
2741 South Alameda Street
Los Angeles, California 90058
registered on 30-Mar-07

seem familiar? LOL...

And upon doing a google maps search, lookie what I found:
Link hidden: Login to view

I'm thinking they might be the large warehouse with trucks on S. Alameda and Ross Street by zooming out on satellite view in both google and yahoo maps (perhaps not a public access via trucks since it's a large distribution warehouse)

The other known business at that location google so kindly lists on the right pane:
Discountdealstore c/o Storeb2b?
Izit U by Phillipe?
MegaGoods, Inc.?
Smart Systems?
therealdealshoppingspree.com?

The proposition itself for storeb2b is pretty tempting as they do beat some web prices this time around for only a small membership fee of $29.99 per month. Basically just like getestore.com, you sell for them, and get a cut off your own set margin. 10% margin by default on your default store items.

I'm going to call them tomorrow to see what they sound like (foriegn or domestic) and then see where they're shipping from. It's going to be interesting to see how they explain an empty lot or what they tell me when I ask if i can visit their facility.

I'll post back when I get some details. But for now, I just wanted to get storeb2b.com in the salehoo search engine in case someone else runs across this and wants more info. It's hard to find 'storeb2b scam' in the search engines and to contrast that, harder to find 'storeb2b rules.rocks, awesome, etc'

I called storeb2b this morning. They were in Los Angeles, the rep spoke clear english, accurately verified the weather and temperature there and was familiar with the local freeways when talking about the morning commute. Their warehouse is the one across the empty lot on Ross St with truck access.

They do obtain their good through their parent company MegaGoods (since they share the same facility)
The site is $29.99 per month
you can edit meta tags and keywords and optimize the site for search engines.
The products do ship from Los Angeles

You can integrate your own merchandise, however you'll have to provide your own paypal or merchant account for those orders.

The members advantage price is a one time fee of $200 which is good as long as you have the monthly subscription.

I might give the 7 day trial a whirl to see if there are any other gotcha's involved. If i go through with the trial, i'll post back with an update.

My verdict: Use at your own discretion. The shipping costs are kind of high so you'd have to markup your products 20% in order to net 5-10% on some products. If you're a successful marketer and can make things happen, it might work for you. I started 7 day trial today to get the website up and the prices set and canceled today as well after I tried to adjust prices to gauge my profit after shipping to myself.

The templates and site setup is pretty easy though, cookie cutter stuff.

I am taking a trip to Via Trading and Liquidation.com's warehouses this weekend in the LA area, I may swing by the MegaGoods location just to check things out in person if I get a chance. I'll try to take pics if i can.

They are out of California is says right there in the FAQ that they charge sales tax to items shipped in California. Only reason for that is that they have a CALIFORNIA resellers license.

I used to have an account with Megagoods and sold more than 10 products through them, never without a issue.

I then discovered when my first credit card was canceled that my account was canceled.

I needed to get an Xbox 360 cooling fan from them ASAP to send to my customers, plus a few other details. I thought I was sunk.

Then I simply did some research and found 'TRUE' wholesalers like superufo.com sell all the same things, ship anywhere I wish, and do it for less.

That was the last time I used Megagoods. I would agree they are basically a scam given what they charge, avoid it!

If I were you I would search online for other supply centers, and have as many supply sources you can work off of as possible. Forget Megagoods. Fast service but the pricing is horrible. Some will be satisfied with them and I never was.

Dear Planes,

This post has just come to our attention and we would like to address the concerns that you have regarding the accuracy of our address listing. I encountered the same issue as you have when verifying the Google maps/earth images of our warehouse location. Google does display a vacant lot when the address is first entered in. However you can change the view position on Google which then show the Alameda Business Center right across from the vacant lot. If you keep changing the positing of your view south you will see a clear image of where Megagoods is actually located. Google provides older poor quality images as well as new high quality ones. I have uploaded two images for you clearly showing that Megagoods is located at the exact address listed on our website. MSN maps also provides a clear view of the entire warehouse business center we are located in.

We have provided links to accurate images below that were obtained through using Google.

As per what Joe has said.

The way the term 'wholesale' is thrown around by some drop shippers is one of my absolute pet hates.

Tagging the word Wholesaler behind the words Drop Shipper is not a descriptive of their business model, it's just a simple marketing trick. People see the words Drop Shipper and the word 'inexpensive' isn't the first word to pop into their head.

Throw the term Drop Ship/Wholesaler into the mix, and all of a sudden you have people thinking inexpensive because they word Wholesale has been used.

Now some might call that misleading, a scam or several other words that I won't repeat, and I hate it personally, however at the end of the day it is smart marketing from them.

The art of good effective marketing is to hide your deficiencies as a business, while exaggerating your positives, and that simple technique is very effective at doing just that for drop shippers.

Wholesale and Drop Shipping are two completely separate supply platforms. Wholesale will always provide you the better price because you are buying in volume, and that's the way it should be.

Is it fair that someone who spends $10,000 of their money on buying stock gets the same price as someone who wants to get one, and pay nothing up front?

Of course not, Drop Shipping has its advantages, but being an inexpensive option is not one of them!

I'd like to add that even though I recant what I said about them being a scam and not having a legit address, I still am not a fan of their business model.

The problem is that they can not provide any better prices than some good online
retail stores. Newegg being one of them.

They certainly are not a good source for eBay which they promote that they are.
Now you might be able to get away with selling from them at your own website but that has its own pitfalls, such as, generating traffic to your website.
