How to get faster shipping to American customers

Hi there, I have noticed that the fastest route for the product I am selling from China is 12-20 days via e-packet.

How can I get the shipping to be 2-5 day shipping, which is what most people in America expect now?

Perhaps I can order a lot from the China warehouse and have the products sent to a warehouse here in America which ships the products when someone orders, which will lower the shipping time to 2-5 days for people in the USA?

Of course, another option is to simply order in bulk to my house, package everything and send it out myself as the orders come in.

If anyone has any solutions to this, it will be much appreciated!

Thank you,

Louis

Hi Louis and welcome to the forum,

You've pretty much identified the only two real options to counter your problem. In fact, the buy in bulk store and ship from home is actually the absolute cheapest option as well because you're saving money by buying in bulk and you're saving fulfilment fees by doing it yourself.

So if you have the cash flow available to do it that way, that should be option A, without a doubt.

Outside of the two options you've canvassed, you're really only left with express shipping options and you don't even want to think about those sorts of charges. incorporating those sorts of fees will put you so far out of the market you will need a GPS to find it!

Thanks fudjj!

So it looks like buying in bulk to my house and simply fulfilling the orders there, shipping them out myself, is the cheapest option.

What if I have the cash available to order a lot from the China manufacturer and have the products sent to a warehouse here in America that can fulfill my orders so that I can lower the shipping time that way?

How would I go about doing that?

Where are these warehouses that do this?

Thanks!

Louis

Amazon is the obvious option that comes to mind, using their FBA setup Link hidden: Login to view

So an option like that is going to save you labour and storage space issues, but the payoff is that, of course, you have the service fees to then add to the price of the item. Now if you can source in bulk, use the FBA and remain competitive, while still making an acceptable margin on your items, then that probably is a pretty solid option for you to consider.

In this business, the more cash you have, the more you can buy and that in turn secures you the best price you can afford (at the time). It doesn't always provide you with the best price possible, that always comes down to the pricing structure of the supplier.

For example, spend 5K and get 25% discount. Spend $7,500 and get 27% discount. Spend 10K and get 30% discount and so on.

Not everyone structures it in such a way, but you always watch out for that MOQ trap that many fall into. MOQ is only the MINIMUM order they will accept, that doesn't always guarantee you the BEST price possible. So always confirm pricing structures when dealing with wholesale purchasing because that type of trap can really catch a lot of people out by spending what they have on the MOQ amount, only to then find that after spending all their cash on stock, while other resellers are spending more, buying cheaper and squeezing them out of the market.

Of course, it's not all about the cash flow either. the more you do yourself, as in self-storage, shipping and so on, the more you also then save.

So the end game equation is, money spent + money saved + margin made - costs = X

Ok cool!

I really want that 2-5 day shipping (and really don't want 12-20 day shipping or to do it all myself), so I guess I'll be using amazon FBA then!

Thanks again,

Louis

Hi Louis.

Welcome onboard. Your question sent me on a quest (if a google search is a quest.) Here is a link to fulfillment warehouses.

I did not go deep into the list but Shipbob looks promising.

If you don't have a store yet Shopify has extensive help and it also looks like they have a fulfillment warehouse.

Good fortune to you Louis.
