Is there any way to make any money on Ebay through dropshipping? I'm not looking for you to reveal all of your secrets, I just want to know if it's possible. So far after much research and a few auctions, I'm thinking it's not. To clarify I'm not looking to make a ton of money. I have a decent full time job, I am only looking to make a little bit of extra money. Honestly i would be happy with a net gain of $100-$200/month. So am I right in concluding the only way to do this is buying wholesale lots instead of dropshipping?

In reality anything is possible. Several people on Ebay do make a profit with dropshipping. I prefer to buy in bulk and have the goods on hand. A bigger risk for me but it works for me. But yes dropshipping does work for some people.

Yes you can make money in dropshipping. But the reality is that dropshipping is a real pain in the rear. If your an ebay seller. Especially since shipping and product avaliability is out of your control.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

So based on all of the discussion so far.... is it better to start out dropshipping and build up a little reserve to be able to do some bulk shopping? Or is it going to take too long to start out with dropshipping and actually making enough to buy in bulk? I am very new to this and am trying to get started, and unfortunately I do not have the seed money to buy things to sell. I have to make money to then turn around and put back in as an investment... and after reading through the forums I am now nervous about the whole process.

Dropshipping is much harder to do on ebay then most advertisements lead you to believe. 95% of dropshippers have already bumped thier prices close to retail if not over. Leaving you with little profit potential.Wholesale Directory by SaleHoo

I think I have found a few wholesalers who have some decent prices on things I can buy and work with now. I have some more books here to sell, so will list those and buy one or two whole sale lots, then wait for those to arrive and list them, building up a reserve that way. I think I'll skip the drop shipping part of this and go straight for whole sale and liquidation buy outs. I like the idea of shipping myself so I am the one in complete control. Not to mention, the forum on bad wholesalers scares me! :-)

You will get better pricing from wholesalers generally but then again you have to do the work of carrying the inventory, packing, shipping, etc.

One thing that bothers me about dropshipping on eBay is no control on product availability. More than once I have made the sale only to find the product no longer available or in-stock. Then you have to make up some excuse to your buyer and refund his money. This can lead to negative feedback.
