Born from the frustrations every online seller knows

Before co-founding SaleHoo, I was a seller on TradeMe, New Zealand's biggest online marketplace. I had the drive, the time, and a genuine appetite to build something. What I didn't have was reliable information, trustworthy suppliers, or any clear way to know which products would actually sell.

I wasted months chasing suppliers who turned out to be middlemen charging retail prices. I got stung by minimum order requirements I couldn't meet as a new business. I listed products based on gut feel and watched them sit unsold. The information I needed existed but it was scattered, outdated, and often wrong.

How we vet every supplier

Not every supplier makes it into the SaleHoo directory. Every applicant goes through a structured four-step review before they're listed and they stay listed only as long as they maintain our standards.

Identity & registration
We verify the supplier's legal business registration, physical address, and ownership before any listing is considered.

Product authenticity
Branded products are verified as genuine. Counterfeit or grey-market goods disqualify a supplier immediately.

Trade terms audit
We assess minimum order quantities, pricing tiers, shipping reliability, and return policies against our minimum standards.

Ongoing member feedback
Live reviews from our 137,000-member community flag quality changes. Suppliers with sustained negative feedback are removed.
Our promise: if a supplier doesn't meet our standards, they don't get listed. If an existing supplier slips, they're removed. Your business — and your reputation — depend on it.

Simon Slade is CEO and co-founder of SaleHoo. In this role, he oversees the strategic direction of the company, manages and contributes to product design, and supervises staff and daily operations. Simon is passionate about providing ecommerce professionals with the education and resources they need to start their own businesses and achieve occupational independence. He regularly contributes commentary for Forbes, Fortune, SMH, NZ Business, and CEO Blog Nation.
Mark Ling
Co-founder
Mark Ling is co-founder and director of SaleHoo. As director, Ling supports product creation, email marketing, and webinar marketing, performs launches, and manages our partners and affiliates. In his free time, Ling is an active supporter of World Teacher Aid, a charity organization that builds classrooms and provides breakfast to African children. He also enjoys reading business books and spending time with his partner and two sons.
