Simple question.....is it worth paying a monthly fee to use listing templates on eBay? yes, some of them are cute & pretty but does it make a huge difference if you use them as compared to not using them. What are your feelings?

Hello designerthriftshop,

It's not really worth paying to use eBay's listing templates seeing as so many other people use them that it doesn't give you any unique branding benefit anymore. It would be better to go to somewhere like RentaCoder or Elance.com and pay for someone to create a specialized one for your own business. It probably wouldn't cost very much.

Cheers!

Using a listing template makes a lot of difference. It helps attract more buyers and even those who are 'just looking around' and 'don't really' intend to buy. It works like advertising. It should be good for your store as long as you keep it professional, straight forward, packed with the information that you want your buyers to know and easy to read (don't use blaring colors and big font that might be unnecessary). You can try using Auctiva (Link hidden: Login to view). It's a great seller tool for eBay sellers. They offer a free 30-day trial so you can try it out first and see if it works for you (Note: Work out your requirements before you start trialing products.) Their starter and standard plans are pretty cheap. They don't only have really nice templates, they also have other features that are worth checking out.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for eveyones response. I don't have an eBay store but usually have 30 + going at one time. I'm vry familiar with Auctiva & already use their scrolling gallery. Just not sure if I really need to pay for a service.

Try to assess your current standing as an online seller. See if there is a need to expand and use more features to make it easier to list items, monitor sales, etc. Most importantly, make sure your business is making a good profit and can absorb the costs. I know the monthly fee may not be much but still that's money spent and unless you're sure that it's money well-spent on something that is significant to your business, then, I'd say hold off for a bit.

You can design your own. Try out NVUs free wysiwyg. You can make some nice looking templates with their tables.
