Windows XP SP2 Retail - High Copied?

Hello dear friends,

I have a quick question. I asked a seller that sold Windows XP SP2 Retail the following question:

This is a retail version right? No oem version and can pass validation to microsoft? Is COA Included?

And he replied:

though the software is high copy ones made in China,still it can work well and just like the original ones work!

What does High Copied mean?

High-tech copy means that it is a good quality copy of the original. But it is extremely illegal. If you sell this on eBay, your listing will be removed and you will be suspended. High-tech copies are counterfeits, they are fakes. And most customers will be able to recognize that what you are selling is fake, because you can tell by many of the physical features on the software and COA, not to mention, the product key is invalid. A lot of customers, when they get their software, call up Microsoft to check the product key. You can get into serious trouble selling this stuff, fined a lot of money and jailed. Yes, the software may be able to work, but it is very illegal. I dont know if they will come raid your house for having a few bootlegs but your not supposed to sell it.I have used them for years and there is no physical way to tell and they actually will pass all the validation checks basically this is exactly what they are a guy burns a copy of his windows xp disc then makes a small program that goes on the disc as well so when it is started up it automatically passes the validation is it illegal yes but are you gonna have your door kicked in by the feds no It is basically a morals issue if you think bootlegging an xp disc or movie cd ect is fine do it but if your one of the people who think it is wrong and we should have to pay Microsoft 100s of dollars for a cd to make them a little more richer dont.

there is no physical way to tell? excuse me, but yes there very much is a physical way to tell, hence howtotell.com ..and it is very easy to see the difference from a genuine and a fake if you look at it, which is why most people attempting to sell this get caught. not to mention, if you even list this online, chances are very good you will be removed right away by a VERO. the BSA and Microsoft and SIIA and Adobe are constantly monitoring auction sites and constantly removing listings, and they dont even have to have a good reason, they can just have a suspision and remove you. you have to know exactly what you are doing when it comes to intellectual property before you can sell it.

you sell these to customers, and you will maybe get away with it for a while, but you will definitely run into a customer who can tell the difference by just the physical appearance alone. you will definitely run into a customer who will call microsoft to verify the product key. and guess what, i'm not trying to scare you, but yes, there have been cases where people selling these on ebay have actually been raided by the feds in their home. we're not talking about buying a couple bootlegs for personal use, we are talking about the highly illegal practice of piracy and selling these for huge profits. and i am strictly speaking on the legalities, you can make your own minds up as far as the morals.

Wow guys this was really serious! I had no idea of this! Im glad i didnt buy that crap! But is the oem versions like this -> also fake? They say that it comes with Certificate of Authenticity (COA) but is that a fake to?

Well some of them you can tell but some there are no way it depends on where they come from and how they are made and I am speaking on the progrm itself not the disc I guarantee you I could sell you a laptop with a bootleg xp on it and unless you checked the serial number with microsoft you would not know.

the oem software in those photos is completely fake. The COA is fake. Even if they were not fake, oem software can only be sold with the required hardware per MS oem policy. i can say a lot more on this stuff, but to put it simply, stay away from software. The only legal way to resell software is if you acquire it within your own territory, per MS territory policy. anything you get from China is fake. they have plenty of fake retail box and oem software that they manufacture in their factories. The FBI has actually raided several of these factories in Shenzhen. They are really cracking down, it is not worth the risk.

Everything that is a copy is a copy! Even if it is a high end copy,

Well, i got shut down one day!

I didn't even know that some of the stuff i was selling was potentially infringing items.

That is actually how good the copies were. You couldn't see the difference!!!

You have real stuff! And you have copies. There are also Grade A copies. Yes, and even A+ and A++. And also B and the worst C.

The best copies are really hard to discover!

You need to examine the products with your eyes.

I packed all my packages, and even went to the post office 5 days a week to ship.

But i just want to say don't try to sell 'High-End copy' it will not work.

Try to sell a Ipod nano copies and state in your item descriptions that they will not work with Itunes. And yes, the shake system changing the songs is not working either. Since these are HIGH END COPIES!

The funny thing is that 5-8 years ago there were X% copies on eBay. I had a friend who sold soccer shirts for 15000 dollars a week. ALL FAKE!

He listed 200 listings in the morning and 200 at night 5 days a week!

It was crazy how many bids he had!

It was sick! He had 4 people packing full time 7 days a week.

Do you know what happened when these shirt came to Customs in France and Italy? Well, just imagning :-)

Well, to be honest! How many sellers on eBay back then sold a lot!

WOW oh boy! Ebay was quite new. And people were buying like crazy!!! Nobody checked the listings!!!

These days you get a VERO if you sell your own underwear.

So please watch out for those HIGHEND copies....

People you need to start reading more into other threads. Yes fake items are sold on Ebay, ESPECIALLY CLOTHES and they are bid on all the time because hey if it looks like the real thing and costs you 1/3 to 1/4 of the price why not? I sold lacoste shirts, looked 100% real, felt 100% real, had no knowledge of them being fake except for the price but i was too ignorant and too money hungry to care.

I read an article not too long ago on here about how ebay would confiscate goods and turn around and sell them to other companies such as liquidations.com. Copies and Fakes make the world go round, come on people look at the the big companies even making money off of them and even more so look at all the i-clones. Right about know I wish I could still make the money I made off of those shirts.

yes, maybe you could have got away with it a few years ago, but now, when you have VEROs all over ebay and other auction sites policing and watchdogging sellers, the chance of getting caught is very high. you know, now, even if you sell genuine goods, you still have a good chance to get removed. read ebay and vero policies. selling fakes or even selling genuine goods (if you are selling them in a way that violates policy or copyright, not having permission of the copyright owner, etc..) is a violation of copyright, it is against the law. do you know how many horror stories there are of people getting caught? just because people can get away with it, doesnt mean its not a crime. it is flat out illegal.

I am looking at buying some MP3 players. The look look and design is the same as the ipod, however they have no logos or symbols associated with ipod. The look and design is all that has been copied. Are these illegal high end copies? Or are they legal for me to sell? Thanks
