Police officer testified in court--If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this police officer.
He was being cross-examined by the defense attorney during a felony trail. The attorney was trying to under-mine the officer’s credibility…
Q: “Officer…did you see my client fleeing the scene?â€
A: “No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away,â€
Q: “Officer …who provider this description?â€
A: “The officer who responded to the scene.â€
Q: “A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officer?â€
A: “Yes sir, with my life.â€
Q: “With your life? Let me ask this office. Do you have a room where you change your clothed in preparation for your duties?â€
A: “Yes sir, I do.â€
Q: “And do you s lock on your locker?â€
A: “Yes sir.â€
Q: “Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officer with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in the room you share with these same officers?
A: “You see … we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk though that room.â€
The courtroom erupted in laughter, and a prompt recess was called.
If the officer on the stand had been nominated for the “Best Comeback†line, I think he’d win.
