hi i am new to online business and would like to register business.will be running a one man business out of my home.what is the best registering type for me and in what state or country.will be using my own web site mostly and some online auction.what is the best bang for the buck sorta speak.thanks to all in advance zooomin2

All you need to do is go online and register it.

Tell the tax man you are now self employed and bobs your uncle, all done in 10 minutes flat.

I would go Limited as it gives you more of an online presence and less of a headache when you do

Ok this may seem like a silly question to ask but, When is it required to register as a business if one is selling on auction sites and not seeking to open an online store? I understand that there is mixed opinions on if registering is needed or not.

As soon as you sell a product to make profit then you should do it.

Don't piss the tax people off, they are the only people who can come in day and night and take what they feel like.

Your house, your tele, your family pet.

Ok thats good advise. To add to that question, Shouldn't I only have a license if I am selling in my own state? or should I be taxing those in other states too? Because isn't having a license in order to comply within the state you are doing business in?

I'm in the UK so not sure about that.

Most wholesalers in the US ask for a tax number so I would suggest you get one of those too.

600 dollars or 500 dollars if you sell that much a year you need it.some states require taxes no matter what state you sell to,all dont really enforce it though

but its best to get a tax and business license and its easy,you can buy better and cheaper products that way.Besides i did business with a company years a ago and they never asked me for tax id or anything,but when tax time came i sure did get something in the mail to pay taxes on the products i had bought.play it safe get business license and tax id..go to your local courthouse.

The majority of suppliers won't need one because they are scammers or too expensive.

Any good supplier will want one, along side trade references..
