Hi. First of all read Jimmy's sticky at the top of this page.
Second, you'd be amazed at what all really sells well on ebay. Think of some of the things that you like and have an interest in. I know one lady selling kits to make hairbows. She's getting rich. Who would think you could sell hairbow kits on ebay when you can buy them all day long at any dollar store?
I have 3 daughters, 2 of which sell on ebay. One just happens to be living in Italy, (lucky) so she buys designer handbags locally and sells them on ebay and basically makes me jealous...The younger one, buys coffee mugs and placemats at our local dollar store. I think they are called 'Bistro Chef'. Plus several other designs, and sells those. She pays at most $1.50 for a set and then sells the set on ebay for about 15 to twenty bucks..Go figure..
My point is that you can sell just about anything you want. You just have to find something that you like. Get and use 'Auction inspector'. With that you can rapidly see what items are selling well. If you don't want to do it that way, then make a list of some things that you might want to sell. Remember if you have an interest in something, it will be much more fun to sell it as opposed to a product that you just think might sell well...
After you make the list, go on ebay and check through the 'completed Listings' pages and see if any of those items are selling and for what amount. Or if you don't want to make a list, just browse through the completed listings catagories and take a look at what people ARE selling.
Everyone wants to start selling something that they think is going to make them rich overnight, such as electronics and such. There is just too many of those items listed for someone just starting out to make any money.
You need to think 'out of the box'. Dont try to sell what the majority of ebay sellers are selling, instead, try to find something that is unique and different.
When my daughter told me that she was going to start selling coffee mugs and place holders on ebay, I just giggled and said 'Have fun, Darlin'.
But when her feedback went from zero to 450 in just over a month, she was the one laughin...
When I asked her, how she came up with the idea for coffee mugs, she said that she just liked mugs with different type logos on them, so she figured other folks would too...
So start with that, and try to find something a bit different while you get started and a feel for how things work. Search for your niche market and you will most likely be alot more successful than someone starting out trying to sell x-boxes. I know the apples are alot sweeter at the top of the tree,,but it sure is easier to pick the ones at the bottom first....
