Dropshipping to Canada

Hi there. I just started a baby gear online store. I've maxed out my budget bringing in inventory and I would like to expand my product line using drop ship items. There doesn't seem to be many Canadian companies doing this but there certainly are quite a few in the U.S. who will. My question is, how does this work for the customer? If my customers are buying from a Canadian store and getting their shipment from the U.S. and end up having to pay duty - I'm thinking they would be a little ticked...I know I would be. So how are Canadian stores doing this? I've noticed quite a few baby online stores in Canada who are using dropshipping from the U.S. so I'm wondering how do I go about doing this as well? Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated as I've spent many hours searching online trying to figure this out.

Hi babybean,

I'm not sure how Canadian sellers are coping with dropshipping products from the US since based on what I have read Canadian Customs will collect GST on most anything that's been imported into Canada, usually a 5% tax is charged depending on the converted value.

One more thing, since there seems to be no legal way around this it might be best that you mention in your listing that the product is coming in from the US so that your customers are aware of the additional fees.
