Fm1234 is right. With a product that is 'hot' it is very hard to get a good deal to resell that item unless you have 'very deep pockets'. Only the folks with huge buying capital can get the prices that allow for a good resell profit..
That being said, with any hot product, or just about any product in general, there is more money made from the 'aftermarket' products than from the actual product itself..Just as fm1234 is suggesting, there is more money to be made from accessories and such for ipods that from the ipod itself.. This is true for most of these types of products..If you look at the stats for most all hot products you will find that the aftermarket product profits will always exceed the main product profit by at least 75%. That quite a bit of difference.
So if your going to sell in the ipod market the the aftermarket products is what you should be looking for...
Too, don't get hung up on thinking that you have to sell what everyone else is selling..I have said time and again, that just about any and everything sells on ebay and on the net..If you don't believe this just browse the completed listing catagories on ebay and check out the catagory for 'weird' and 'everything else'..you will see people selling some really strange stuff and in addition, selling very well.
Ever hear of a seller on ebay named 'efrench' (that may not be the correct spelling) but anyway this guy sells used jeans. Started a couple of years back buying used jeans at a local thrift store and reselling them on ebay..He did well, so he started buying more and more, actually sold over 2 million dollars worth of used jeans on ebay in a one year period..Just him and his dad, out of some storage sheds on his property. Nothing fancy just used jeans..
People want and buy all kinds of stuff. It dosen't have to be ipods or diamond rings to make you good money..What you should do is spend some time looking through different catagories on ebay in the completed listings and see exactly what is selling well. Then when you see a product that is selling well that you might want to get involved with, stop and think about what might be a good accessory to that item, what might a person who is buying that same product like to go with it in addition..These things can and will make you money..
Case in point, my daughter sells 'cell phone charm'. Just a cute little charm that attaches to your cell phone like you would see on a charm braclet..Buys them for a couple of bucks apeice and sell them for about 15 to 20 bucks apeice. Makes about 12 to 15 bucks profit on each one.
Those are a cell phone 'accessory'. Seems like the ladies love them. And in addition she makes as much or more profit per item on the charms as a person does selling the acutal phone.......
And if you still don't believe that people will buy anything,,,there is a seller on ebay in the 'weird' catagory that sells 'LIQUID ICE'. It's a small bag of water. Just a gag gift, but people buy them, cause they think it's funny...
