There is absolutely nothing wrong with online selling. Total online sales in the u.s. in 2004 totaled $65 billion, sales in 2008 for just the first quarter (4 months) were $19 billion, up 23 per cent from the first quarter last year.
Where as offline retail sales were up only 7 percent from last year. That's quite a difference between online and offline. And most reports say that as the economy gets tighter sales are increasing at a fast pace to online shopping.
Will selling online make you rich over night? NO. Is selling online easy? NO. Can you make a living selling online? Yes.
Most people think that all you have to do is take any product and put it up on ebay or a website and money starts flowing into your bank account. In reality online selling is a highly competitive marketplace. It takes alot of research, hard work and time to be sucessful. I know that there is a ton of programs and ads out there on the web that will tell you just the opposite. Just buy this simple program, start selling our products and then go sit on the beach collecting millions for the rest of your life..
That being said, if you do want to sell online and really want to be successful, then the only thing that can really stop you is yourself..You are not going to get rich overnight, but you can make a very good living, be your own boss, and have quite a bit of freedom, IF, you are willing to put the time and effort into it. Selling online is just like any other job or project online or off, you get out of it what you are willing to put into it....It's just that simple...
My advise is to start slow, learn how things work online, build several stream of income with different products and gradually build and expand your business. Also don't be afraid to make mistakes and when you do, learn from them.
Don't get pulled into thinking that you have to be selling all the HOT products that you see all the hype about. Look for things that people need and use everyday.. Keep in mind that I said NEED, not WANT. I need a car to run my errands, but i want a mercedes. Everyday products are easy to aquire and keep in stock and normally produce more profit per item than do all the hot products and gadgets, especially electronics.
Remember that the majority of online shoppers are impulse buyers. So if you spend a little bit of time writing good auction listings or good sales copy for your website, you should have no trouble closing the sale.. In addition, not everyone lives close to a nice shopping mall, nor does everyone work normal working hours that allows them to get to a nice store during regular shopping hours..These people turn to online shopping for their needs and can easily become your customers...
