Any real wholesalers on SaleHoo?

Buyer beware. It seems that this directory is just another list of discount retail websites. Most of these sites are not real wholesalers. Well, if you consider 8% off as a wholesale price, well...ok.

I've learned my lesson about buying anything like this. After searching this directory and seeing that it is just the same as every other directory or advertised dropshipper I realized that real distributors don't advertise to the general public. Most companies that dropship don't call themselves 'dropshippers.' This is a term that middlemen exploit. However, if you look at a real distributor's website many of them do offer dropshipping as part of their logistics services.

The fact is, this is a business and you don't just get access by paying a fee and clicking 'join now.' I've found some real distributors and to become a reseller and have them dropship products for you is a more complicated process. There is an APPLICATION form, not a sign up form. There is no fee to do business with them. You also must be a registered business and have the necessary tax forms to prove it. Most of them want business references as well. That's all well and good. It's about what I would've expected. I feel foolish now for believing that a distributor would conduct business the way most 'dropshipping' companies do. Maybe the companies on this list don't charge a fee but the salehoo fee was clearly money down the drain.

So you want to get real wholesale prices? Find a product developer's website, say Canon, for example. Fish around under the contact page, or the about us page, or a partners link...follow these links a few pages deep and you will eventually find a list of their authorized distributors. There will be dozens of them. These are the wholesalers. Visit those websites and you will quickly find links about 'becoming a customer' or 'resellers.' That's what you want. Those companies are the real deal wholesale distributors. They'll have links to all of their 'suppliers' which are the product developers or manufacturers that they buy from. You may even be able to buy right from a manufacturer but i doubt it. It is quite a different experience than most 'dropshippers' websites. Just be warned that it will take time to get set up, if they even accept you as a reseller.

It's been an expensive education but I think I have seen the light now.

I dont think you can join Salehoo flick through a few pages, find some bogus 'middlemen' websites and call it a waste of money. I have not been a Salehoo member for long, but by using Salehoo i have found alot of information extremly useful for my business, tips of the trade, other peoples experiences, buyer bewares, wholesale referrals, are all things you cant find by simply searching on google. You really can learn alot just by reading what other people have done, and mistakes they have made that you don't have to.

I have found quite a few legit wholesalers by searching on Salehoo. Many are not, but Salehoo is not created to spoon feed you, its created as a tool.

If you look like a wholesaler and sound like a wholesaler then people will think you are a wholesaler, so of course they could end up being listed on Salehoo. Its up to you to do the homework on them and decide if you want to use them or not.

Read the Salehoo forums, you will learn what to look for in a wholesaler and how to detect the real from the fake. 'REAL' wholesalers and manufacturers dont have flashy websites, you dont pay any fees to join, you need to verify who you are, tax id etc, processing takes time. If it were not for salehoo i wouldnt have known this.

Take Salehoo for what it is. A useful tool to point you in the right direction to successfully sell online. Its working for me so far anyway !!

Everyones views and thoughts are different, some people will use salehoo to its max, some think its another money making gimmick. I call it an investment.

Yes as matter of fact their is some real wholesalers on salehoo.Also some companies with niche and low priced products if you look well enough.Sure you can go to the direct distributor,get them to dropship,you wont get the best price and usually they add extra charges for packing and shipping since they are sending one item at a time for you.Salehoo offers people with low budgets a chance to start a small business and work their way up to a bigger business.Rome wasnt built in a day.If you have large sums of money sure buy alot of items directly from the distributor,the more you buy, less the price.With what salehoo has listed you can easily start a business in 1 hour and have sells 15 minutes after the merchandise is delivered to you.But people think ebay ebay ebay.Thnk outside the box and you can make more than you ever would from ebay.

There are tons of wholesalers in the directory. Only problem is that if your looking for ebay items. Your not going to find a wholesaler that can compete with their selling prices. Most of ebays items sell for below wholesale. Niche items sell generally higher then wholesale so they are a nice thing to find. Otherwise you need to look for Liquidations or Bulk sales where you can buy allot of products for less.

Unfortunately its not as easy as tv puts it. You have to spend money to make it.

Hi everyone, new to the forum but not sale-hoo. I have been reading alot of the threads and researching on my own. I don't know whats a good market for selling right now. Electronics seem to do well, but, the market for game consoles, cell phones and camera's are SATURATED. I like E-bay, I am a total purse , shoe and clothes junkie. I use to sell my own gently used and new clothing. Don't know what to sell now, the economy is terrible. Wish my family had ties to the gasoline business, because I would definetly sell it. I would have my own online E-bay store!! LOL :) Dont want to buy thousands of dollars of inventory right now tryin to start small, make a little extra money on the side. Anyway, any ideas???

This right here is where your confused.

For Major retailer chains this is Wholesale.

Wholesale as a rule of thumb Is between 3% and 15% difference from retail price. Now there are major differences if your buying from china. But as a rule this is the only discount a retailer gets buying direct.

There are some differences in Clothing and Furniture that make wholesale on some of these lines around 35% and sometimes more off of retail.

But you will never see electronics or hot items under 15%

I know your out there to make massive profits per item you sell but this is not the case with wholesale purchases. A retailer makes their billions through selling in mass volume. They sell hundreds of millions of products each year with maybe a couple dollars profit per item.

This is something a average seller wont be able to do. They may make thousands a month selling a huge volume of products. Try asking sellers on ebay that sell 20,000 items a month. How much they are really making. You may think they are extremely rich. But they may only be making about 100K a year in profits. I knew a couple extreme power sellers that sold a massive amount of products each month and they said they make about $6,000 a month on ebay.

TV makes so many people think wholesale is 50% or more off of everthing. But this is not true even in the slightest.
