I'm reading quite a bit regarding how to get started. I currently have a personal ebay account
running for several years like most people, simply selling the odd item that i want to get rid of.
I'm reading through the five step set up on how to get started drop shipping.
Just need a bit more direction if possible thanks?
1.Not sure if i need to realistically start a brand new ebay store for this, and either try to build it myself or use an available salehoo model. Or
just use my own current ebay personal membership as a platform to sell.
2. As i understand, being in Australia, I probably don't need to set up Tax ID and business Codes and numbers to trade at this stage Right?
3. Kind of struggling a bit on where to start and what would be the best option to kick off.
Could you point me in the right direction thanks.
Hi Scott and welcome to the forum and thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.
Regarding a new ebay account, if you've got an already established account with some decent feeedback, I think it's smarter going with that. Yes, it might look a little mess with all the odd bits and pieces you've previously sold having no relation to your new image or stock profile, but I think the feedback benifit (given that it's good of course) is more than equal compenation for that.
What you might want to consider is possibly changing the accounts name to start building your branding from this point on.
Q2. To be complately legal you still need an ABN, but of course not everyone submits tax for things they sell on eBay. So that's really your call as to how you want to do that. From a suppliers aspect, you may find some suppliers that will erquire a tax id to open an account with, so that's where an ABN would serve you well.
In regards as to where to start, that's something I can't be much help with mate. That pretty much comes down to research, finding a product/s that have a market and then find suppliers that will give you the ability to exploit that market. So suppliers that can give you a competitive price and service to allow you to compete.
So that's essentially the biggest part of an online business, research is KING. Even after you find your product/s and your suppliers, you have to keep researching to make sure you stay ahead of your competition or at least are matching them. The moment one of them finds an opportunity to take you down, they'll do it so fat your head will spin and your sales will die.
So research is the only way you can remain competitive in this game.
