Hey folks. Like many of you I am looking to make my eBay sales more regular than household items and one off bargains I find, and have found a dropshipper I would like to work with, but they have advised me they have a $49.99 minimum order.

I would like to sell items worth less than this but how can I go about it? Will I have to wait until I have sold multiple items to order from them? obviously this is not practical.

I am sure I could ask these questions of the supplier but like the idea of them thinking i know what I am doing so any help is appreciated :)

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simo,

Not all Drop Shippers work on the same structure, some will charge you a monthly fee, where others offer you their products with no monthly fees. Now the ones that do charge you a monthly fee will usually tell you that you save on their products because they offer cheaper prices, and of course the ones that don't charge you the monthly fee will tell you that's rubbish lol

When it comes to Drop Shipping, I wouldn't personally consider paying a monthly fee without the supplier showing me quite clearly how I would save in the long term by using them.

Depending on the actual products you are selling, you should be able to find both types of supplier. I would suggest giving us some detail on the type of products you are interested in and the support team will do their best to give you some supplier options that you can then chase up and compare.

: )

Hi Simo2601,

It's nice to show suppliers that you know what you're doing but oftentimes it is best to ask them directly about issues you're not sure of. They are the best people to get answers from especially if your concerns are about the products or services they offer. Like Marc pointed out dropshippers have different policies, so we may be able to help you address your concerns but it would be more of a general answer whereas your dropshipper can answer your concern based on their policies.

Hope this helps.

By the way, what types of products are you looking at dropshipping? We would be more than happy to help you search for suitable dropshippers.

Cheers :)

Hi Simon,

Welcome to our site! :) Indeed, dropship suppliers vary in their requirements. Some impose a one time start up fee, and some, like the one you are wanting to use, require a minimum order amount. This is one of the dropshippers’ way to ensure that they are dealing with legitimate sellers. It does cost them time and resources to set up a dropshipping account and it will be a dent in their expenses if they accommodate too many ‘players’ just trying to have a taste.

You will also realize as you go on, that some drop shippers will be offering different pricing tiers, depending on how much sales you were able to bring in to their company. It is their way of ‘rewarding’ their performing clients.

And then with dropshipping, my personal opinion is that one should have a long term goal of eventually moving to acquire true wholesale merchandise. You cannot create as much profit margin with it as you can with buying in wholesale/bulk.

All the best!:)

Thanks for all the advice, it looks like I will be swallowing my pride and contacting them directly.

Thanks for the offers to find dropshippers for me. At the moment I am keen to just get some experience so would happily sell any products from a reputable dropshipper who is easy to deal with, but my interests are photography (a market pretty well covered on eBay) fishing, camping, 4x4 and tools. I would love to sell brand name fishing gear and power tools if possible.

Thanks again for your help! It is nice to see people not afraid to share their knowledge

The suppliers listed above all ship internationally and do not require any minimum orders. They offer most of the products you mentioned you are interested in.

Hope this helps. All the best :)

PS - Do add your review on the supplier's profile for those you will contact or buy from. Thanks!

Hey, thanks Richelle, looks like there are some good suppliers there!

Just an update, the dropshipper I was asking about is Rhinmart. I contacted them and the minimum amount for a dropship order is $50. This makes life pretty hard, so I wont be ordering from them.

Glad you found them suitable, Simon :)

Thanks for the update by the way. If you find that you simply cannot make do with what a supplier requires then its best to move on to the next that will easily meet your needs. I'm really glad I was able to help point you towards the suppliers suited for you.

All the best!
