Hi guys,

I am relatively new at reselling on ebay and am thinking about using oo.com as a dropshipper. However my question is how can I hope to be competetive and make a profit if buyers can purchase directly from dropshiping companies like oo.com. If I can't offer the product for less than the dropshipper or wholesaler why would they bother to buy from me?

Many thanks ,Watchman

Hi watchman,

Buyers don't always do lots of market research, so if you are selling in a different place (like eBay) for a higher price, you can still get some sales - even though the buyer could get it cheaper going direct to OO.com

However, you probably shouldn't rely on OO.com for all your products, but use a couple of other suppliers as well so that you are offering a unique product selection in a particular niche rather than just an exact replica of OO.com.au

Also you can add marketing perks (like a freebie, free post, great customer service and the likes...) to help you increase your sales or traffic

Hope this helps. Cheers! :)

Hi Watchman,

Just to add, OO.com.au does sell on eBay but they only sell a limited range. According to them, they only sell something around the neighborhood of 10% of their entire range so there are still a lot of other products on their website that their customers who sell on eBay as well can choose from.

When using a supplier that sells on ebBay themselves, look at bundling as an option.

Look at listing two or more of their products together as the one listing, products that go well with each other. That in essence will give you a unique product line to what they themselves are offering, and you can undercut their individually priced items with your combined price as you can build your margin around just one of the products, and let the other/s go at cost, or reduced margin.

Just ensure to cover the increased shipping cost!

You're welcome, Watchman.

Fudjj is right. Yes, a number of suppliers have their own retail stores or sell on eBay too - obviously, it makes it harder to compete, but that's where you just have to look for other ways to offer a difference in your service or in your product selection. For one, you can try adding third-party extras and up-sells to your orders. These will help you bump up your margins to a much more acceptable level. Or, you can also sell that supplier's products on another marketplace, or via your own website if you have one.

All the best!

Once again thanks to both Satya and fudjj for the advice.

I am now in the process of deciding on which products to start listing.

Hi fellow ebayers

Im new to this.

I looking for reliable dropshippers to start selling on ebay. OO.com.au products seem as expensive as retail price.

Is this true or am I not looking hard enough?

I have looked at fragrance products and electronics but nothing seems cheap enough to make a profit.

If anyone will have an input on this, it will be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi buyerschoice93,

To be honest it might be a bit tough. OO.com.au readily sells on eBay which means you will be rubbing elbows with them, according to one of the reviews:
They also sell on eBay, although not all items are advertised but when you put up one of their products at times their link will come up in the "other recommended" suppliers. The product will be shown from their site right above your listing. This makes it hard to sell against them since buyers can see it at wholesale price (through the advertised link) right in front of them.

To maximize your profits it might be best avail of their wholesale bulk lots or check which products on their list are not being sold on eBay and dropship those to avoid direct competition with them :)

I would suggest reading through the reviews on OO.com.au's supplier profile - Link hidden: Login to view to learn more about the previous experiences of other members.

Hope this helps :)
