I have an excellent t-shirt supplier, but my target market is to try and break into the Japanese Market, so I can acquire retailers. I am located in London and I'm looking for any advice on how to establish droppshipping and enter the Japanese Market.

Hi Bugz,

If it's dropshipping you want to do, then no reason why you couldn't distribute from your location into Japan (unless space or something is an issue) So all you would need to do is establish the best marketing avenue for you and ship internationally.

Another option, you can submit an application to get into our directory and then list yourself a suppler (given you qualified for acceptance of course) That way you might find members wanting to dropship your shirts into the Japanese market for you.

Mark,
So I say that I am the supplier or I can supply any quantity needed, getting them into Japan will be done by a dropshipper, but how do I get those customers who need the product. Please explain. In short I need a dropshipper and customers wanting the T-Shirt.

1. How do I submit an application to get into the directory?

Hi Bugz,

Getting the product into the market as a dropshipper is about targeting the most popular marketing avenues in Japan. Unfortunately, I'm not aware where most locals in Japan actually shop online. There is of course an eBay Japan Link hidden: Login to view but I have no idea of how popular it is.

It's no different to marketing a product in any country, you need to be marketing it in the right area to get maximum effectiveness.

Perhaps you should consider wholesale as well, maybe look for a local supplier/s to carry your products and retail them. Is there a particular reason you want to get into the Japanese market, are these shirts specifically designed for that market?

Hi bugz.

Yahoo Auctions was the most popular selling platform in Japan years ago. Current status is unknown. Here is a link to an old article Link hidden: Login to view

They have Japanese animation on them so I was thinking that would be a great way to break into that market. But its hard to do when you don't have a person in Japan to sell too.

OK, makes sense.

I think eBay or perhaps Yahoo as Dale suggested would be worth trying for retail sales. This one is a long shot, but read this thread from Bosco. It's China related, but maybe you can explore that as an option to open other doors to get into Japan.
