Hi!

I've been thinking about starting with drop shipping. I've got experience shopping on eBay, but I've never sold anything there. How should I start, and who should I contact to get a good deal?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to SaleHoo, entotre!

Wholesale drop shipping is a very popular form of product sourcing because it allows you to pay only for the items that you sell.

It works like this: You find a drop shipper and set up an account. Different drop shippers have different setups but usually you can choose to credit your account, or, you can simply leave it empty and pay for each item as you sell it. Once you've created an account, all you need to do is grab the drop shipper's provided photos and product descriptions for the items you wish to sell and list them on eBay or your website.

After you make a sale and receive payment, log into your drop shipper account, select the product you have just sold and take it through the checkout and pay for it. Enter the buyer's shipping details, and the drop shipper will package it up and post it.

And do download a copy of the Dropship Handbook and the rest of the SaleHoo bonus PDF guides if you haven't yet. You'll find the download links here:

May I ask what products you are interested in specifically?

Hi and welcome, pattyco!

Selling something you are interested in can be a good start. We suggest using these three questions to come up with some ideas for niche markets to target -

1. What are your hobbies? (Fishing, hunting, scrapbooking, cooking, photography, languages)
2. What do people tell you you’re good at?
3. What would you like to be able to buy online but have trouble finding?

Magazines, newspapers and blogs are also very useful for brainstorming and researching new markets. It's also a good idea to keep tabs on what is happening in the news if you want to pick up on new trends. The trick is to analyze what you hear and read for product opportunities. For example, is global warming causing water restrictions in your area? Good products to sell might include garden hose timers, low-pressure shower heads, water purifiers and so on. And don’t forget everyday items - boring old every day stuff like bed sheets, socks, mugs, dehumidifiers, storage containers, etc - products that most people use on a daily basis. Many of these are excellent sellers, plus they are fairly easy to get hold of and they make up a huge percentage of all online sales.

A quick browse in the forum for products to sell may bring up a few ideas. You'll also find our blog very useful for getting tips on good products to sell.

When you're ready to start researching suppliers, just let us know and we'll be happy to help you out.

All the best!

PS - It would be nice if you can upload a picture to your profile. Also, please try to post in English next time so everyone can understand. Thanks!

Hi, I am currently in Australia and dropshippers are far and few between. Is it possible to sell dropship items on the US eBay site for dropshipping in US only? As I am finding it too difficult for Australia.

Hi Pamela,

Welcome to the site! You can list your items internationally, here, check this out -

Just make sure that you list the item location. So if you are using a drop shipper in the US, you have to state that the item is in the US, rather than simply putting your location.

All the best!
