Hello all, SerenityBargains here, ebay seller.

Ok, so, i have just started out as a new seller and have been trying to go full scale here by launching my ebay store with a selection of fresh products. Now, the problem seems to lie with whats hot and or niche related, or, what dropshipping products have reasonable margains, but after all the dropshipper fees, and other ebay fees.

I have been doing research on the dropshipping sector and have found that to make a reasonable margain that exceeds $50 to about $80, i think i have to sell products that range in price from $150-80 to about $200 - $300 dollars. Does this make sense to anyone?

I came up with an original plan to sell PS3's, Wii's, Xbox360, Digital Cameras, photo frames, computers (laptops) and perhaps some fine jewelry and watches. Can someone evaluate what i have just presented and tell me if this is feasible or not?

And why does it seem like all of the items i want to dropship are being offered by people in China, is this a caution i should be seeing?

I need a fresh launch but don't know what products to tackle, so, if anyone can give in some of there two senses, or seller philosophy on dropshipping please do. And im sure there are some successful dropshippers out there.

Ultimate plan is to advance upward to branch off into small bulk and medium volume bulk.

Thanks yall....

Seller out...

I have been advised to stay away from clothing and jewelry since these are way over sold. I don't know about the electronics. I'm too new at the game to tell you.

Hi SerenityBargains,

Lots of people are under the impression that electronics is a highly profitable market. Electronics is actually one of the most competitive markets online. The electronics industry has always run on very low margins from wholesalers to end users and marketplaces like eBay have only tightened the margins even further.

Most electronics sell at the wholesale price or below wholesale on eBay. That's how intense the competition is. The point is, the number of sellers present in the electronics market is deceiving. It's much more difficult to make money in this market than it appears.

If you do wish to stick with the electronics industry, then here is what we suggest:

* Use liquidation suppliers to get bulk lots at prices well below wholesale.
* OR: Purchase from wholesalers in very large quantities to drive the wholesale price down.
* Increase your feedback and get powerseller status, if possible BEFORE entering the electronics market. This will give you more visibility in the search.
* Add third-party extras and up-sells to your orders. These will help you bump up your margins to a much more acceptable level.
* Better still - consider selling accessories for electronics rather than electronics themselves. Accessories are very popular, have less competition, cost less to ship and have much greater margins.

PS - If you wish to purchase brand-name products, please refrain from using Chinese suppliers as it is too hard to establish the authenticity of the brand-name goods that they offer.

Thank you very much! Indeed, i am myself have been told that Electronics are hard to crack into, but accessories aren't. I'll look into that. Also, I'm finding it hard to seek out reputable drop-shippers for various products? Are there any particular drop-shippers in this directory that will do legitimate business?

Thank you...

As well, I heard that focusing on a Market in general, as opposed to single product sourcing is much more scalable and successful. What do you have to say or provide on that?

Thank you...

Hi SerenityBargains,

In general, stores work best when built around a niche. Targeting a specific market, e.g.

Clothing is a big market but one that will prove to be profitable if you can find some great deals on branded clothing. Liquidation/Closeouts/Store returns would be something to look into if you want to try this market out.

Selling electronic accessories would be a better idea than selling the actual electronic gadgets. They are easy to source and ship. And for as long as there is a high demand for electronics, there will also be a high demand for accessories.

I'd recommend downloading our Bonus Guides by clicking on the link, 'Bonus Guides *New*' on the left-hand side of any SaleHoo page to find out more about this and for more tips on product-sourcing and online selling.

All the best,
