Hello :)

I am new on here and feel very confused.

I have a site getting desinged for one main product line, do people stick to one line of products and where should I sell? Ebay I saw was okay to start but I cant find the list of others that were recommend....amazon, craigslist etc.

Is anyone doing "ok" with dropshipping? I would like to start off dropshipping until I can save up enough to do wholesale, but feel discouraged when read that wholesale was better.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I make some money by dropshipping but noot lots, working on getting more sales, but the thing is, you need to list more to sell more, ebay fees kill ya, you have to increase the buy price by at least 10% to cover ebay/paypal fees

So if you are looking at selling something with a small margin maybe ebay isn't the one for you.

Thank you for your comment.

Geez I am new, I didnt even know paypal charged fees! Do they charge on each purchase?

Would you say sell more of a product, say jewelry and have hundreds of rings, etc etc. or have a site with jewelry cloths , etc etc. I always think a site with just clothes or just jewelry would do better but should they all be in one? What is your opinion?

Thanks again :)

not sure exact figures but ebay charge around 7.9% and paypal charge around 2%

I increase prices by around 25-35% depending what it is, no use listing a $1000 item and putting $300 on to when your competition has it for $1200, big items its still better to make a little profit than none, in a case like that I am happy to make $20-$30 than lose a sale

depends what country you are from too as to where to sell

Oh Also.

Watch your suppliers stock levels, bit embarrassing when you sell something only to find that they are out of stock, I have a few negs becuse of that.

And watch postage costs, if its a large item going from one side of the country to the other, it may cost a fortune, Isold something once for $150 and charged $50 shipping, the shipping cost came to $157, I covered it cause I am an honest seller.

Hi Kirsten,

Welcome to SaleHoo :) I saw your PM in my inbox and will be replying to you in awhile :)

We have a long list of alternative sites to sell at on this thread - Link hidden: Login to view Please feel free to browse through the list and explore the sites suggested so you can find one that is suited to your needs.

It is true that wholesale offers a greater advantange over dropshipping that is if you have the capital to start with. But for starters dropshipping is a good option. It gives you the flexibility and ability to offer your customers a wide range of products to choose from, since you don't need to actually pay for your stocks unless a customer buys it from your end.

It might be nice and to your advantage to be able to offer a wide range of products in your store. Why? There are customers who prefer to shop in one place/store rather than having to buy this here and the other things they are looking for in another shop. Being able to display various products gives your customers more choices and you in turn a higher chance of landing a sale or 2.
