Dear Salehoo Staffs,

I know that the majority of first timers are confused to what they should sell and I know you will advise them to ponder what their interests are or on what products they have good exerience on or background on and try selling them but the problem is a lot of us have never sold anything and don't have any interest on any product nor do we have any experience on any product. Plus, just because we have an interest on any product doesn't necessarily mean it would sell. Therefore, I believe most of us are flexible and are willing to sell anything that is in demand. My following questions would help such people make-up their minds what to sell. So, if the staff don't mind, we'd really appreciate it if you all can answer my following questions.

Thank You

Top Question:
Can you please tell us here which dropshippers and their products you've personally sold and made good profits regularly ?
I really don't have a hobby or niche or "interest" to concentrate on and so I just want to find-out what the top products are on the internet that dropship well like hot cakes so I don't have to spend countless hours researching through 8,000 suppiers just to find this out.

Selling through Ebay questions:
1. Please list your top 10 products that you personally sell well on ebay on all seasons.
(I'm not interested to know what generally sells well on ebay by others. I only want to know what you yourself personally sell well on ebay. Best to list your links here so we can check them out to get a hunch).

2. Same question goes for summer, Christmas and New Year periods.

Selling through your own Blog questions:

3. Please list your top 10 products that you personally sell well on your own blogs on all seasons.
(I'm not interested to know what generally sells well on blogs by others. I only want to know what you yourself personally sell well on your own blog. Best to list your links here so we can check them out to get a hunch).

4. Same question goes for summer, Christmas and New Year periods.

Selling through Classifieds questions:

5. Please list your top 10 products that you personally sell well on Classifieds on all seasons.
(I'm not interested to know what generally sells well on Classifieds by others. I only want to know what you yourself personally sell well on Classifieds. Best to list your links here so we can check them out to get a hunch).

6. Same question goes for summer, Christmas and New Year periods.

Selling through online Malls/Stores questions:

7. Please list your top 10 products that you personally sell well on online Malls/Stores on all seasons.
(I'm not interested to know what generally sells well on online Malls/Stores by others. I only want to know what you yourself personally sell well on online Malls/Stores. Best to list your links here so we can check them out to get a hunch).

Yes, I know, I'm asking you all to dig your own graves by answering all these questions and risk acquiring a lot of competitions but the "insights" you give us from your personal experience would really help us to pick the perfect products to sell without wasting too much time on market research.

Here's a (seriously) well-intentioned tip for you: Anyone who would fill out this questionnaire is yanking your chain.

Wow. Had to read this bit twice to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding.

And, in the interest of remaining a net contributor to the forum, and not wanting to come off as simply rude or haughty, let me offer you some (sincere) advice in re this post:

1) It's generally considered incredibly bad form to ask a bunch of strangers to hand you their business plans, in any business.

2) There is no such thing as time "wasted on research." This is not to say that there is no such thing as unproductive research, ie. research time spent free associating rather than really digging into data as you can find it and extracting the facts you need from it. But you have two basic routes to success: research, investment and hard work; or luck.

2)a) If you're doing it right, your (superficially) unprofitable research time will end up being split about evenly between finding what to sell, finding where to get it, finding how and where to sell it, and figuring out what to do with the proceeds (taxes, reinvestment, expansion, etc.) If you find yourself getting heavily out of whack on one of these things, you're either doing too much of it, or not enough of the others.

Hi loudgob,

Welcome to the forums!

I'm afraid Frank's right. It would be very difficult to find a member who's had success at dropshipping to readily divulge their products, suppliers and other other info that has contributed to their success - it just won't be fair.

I'm sure those who have been and/or are successful at dropshipping have done their fair share of research and I encourage you to do the same.

To help you determine what products are selling well on eBay, you can do the following -

1) Check out the popular searches and most popular products on eBay:

Popular searches: Link hidden: Login to view
Best selling products: Link hidden: Login to view
eBay pulse: Link hidden: Login to view

2) Perform completed listings searches for products or brand names to see the conversion rate and average selling price.

To do a completed listings search, simply click the Advanced Search button next to the main eBay search box. Enter your search keywords as usual, and then check the Completed Listings box. Hit search and you'll see historical data for the previous 30 days. Successful items are in green; unsuccessful items are in red.

Another thing you might want to consider is our location. Different locations will mean different needs - so what may sell well for me or another member will not necessarily sell well for you. Again, this is another reason why you should take time to do your own research.

Although you may not have a particular hobby or interest, most people do and that's what you need to tap into - Try browsing through the net or reading magazine and see what people in your locality (if you sell locally) are into so you can try out a few of those products. You never know you'll get to uncover a really profitable niche this way. There are groups as diverse as knitting, stay-at-home moms, business, hiking, gluten-free support group, vegans, travel, children's theater, dieting, parenting, crochet, stamp collecting, pet care - the list goes on.

Remember that many of these hobbyists will also need components. For example, you may decide to sell embroidery threads, tools and patterns and how-to books; car parts; fabrics and trimmings.

Other ideas -
* Clothing: accessories, plus sizes, maternity, night wear.
* Kitchen: recipes, knife sets, toasters, microwaves
* Beauty: sunscreen, insect repellent, cosmetic & toiletry bags, men's grooming
* Homewares: towels, sheets, rugs, throws, cushions, vases, mirrors
* Special occasion: wedding supplies, party supplies, mother-of-the bride outfits, bridal shoes, birthday cards
* Garden : lawn mowers, gardening tool sets, composter

Hope this helps somehow, it may not be the list of top 10 products but hopefully it'll help you find your top 10 :)

All the best!
