Hello all. I used to buy stuff from liquidation.com and other sites and then sell the items on ebay. I stopped selling to work full time for a while. I have a lot of computer, administrative, business talents and skills and certainly have the drive to be successful. I only need to make about $1K per month and can dedicate as much time as needed. I don't think my goal is unrealistic, but I don't know what to sell. I once bought a large lot of shelf pull clothes and then sold them on Craigslist and Ebay and even some to friends, and I really enjoyed it! I sell all of my daughter's clothes when she out grows them and I like doing it. Is there a good place to buy something like this and make a small profit on Ebay? Is anyone ever successful buying clothes from yard sales, etc and selling online? What about drop shipping. Is that a reasonable way to make my goal of $1K or so monthly? Thank you for any advice!

1K a month doesn't sound that much, but making it isn't that easy. If it clothing that has your interest, I would suggest looking at liquidated stock. Someone like Via Trading in California might well suit you as a supplier.

Thank you for your input. Any advice is much appreciated. I'm ready to put in some hours making this happen. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of space right now to keep merchandise, but I'm hoping to get to a point where I may. Ideally I would love to have a little store front with some storage and sell both online and in the store, but that takes money :)

While the clothing is fun for me, I would need to focus on making the $1000 or so monthly and then once I'm doing that regularly I can spend some time on the fun stuff. Some articles I've read say drop shipping is a good start, but it seems that's been overdone on eBay and there are too many drop shippers that are not legit, so I am weary of it. Is liquidation.com really any good anymore? I liked it years ago, but have heard bad things more recently.

Hi stuckeytabitha,

Profit wise, dropshipping is definitely not the best way to start since your profit margins would be much lower than when you source your products through wholesale or liquidation. The main advantage of dropshipping being able to offer your customers a wide variety of products without having to worry about stocks and storage.

I don't have personal experience with sellers on Liquidation.com but my colleague Irene has gathered various posts in the forum about Liquidation.com in one of her recent posts and I think you might find them quite helpful -
