I just had someone try to run a scam on me. They emailed me today and said they didn't recieve an item I ordered from my dropshipper on 2/10/07. Thank god for UPS tracking. My item was delivered on 2/19/07 at 10:35am and today is 2/23/07. Nice try. Of course I had to play nice (for feedback) and say maybe someone else recieved it, it's possible, YEH RIGHT. :x I sent them a full tracking report, when delivered, what time, who recieved item. If anyone out there is shipping without delivery conformation you might want to think twice.
I am still concerned about feedback, I stupidly already left them pos feedback. I have been waiting about 7 days to leave feedback instead of waiting on the buyer to leave it first.

I learned the hard way a $80 transaction-i didnt do confirmation .i also learned the hard way on feedback -i have had numerous people try and blackmail me on bad feedback .i do not leave anymore untill they leave for me -my feedback is 2500 positives while i have had probaly 4,000 transactions .i just quit worrying about feedback and realized there is always gonna be a few jerks out there.

I agree on the feeback. I dont leave feedback untill I get it first. One of my accounts has over 2300 transactions and only 900 feebacks received. Although I do have alot of repeat buyers and suscribers to my store newsletter. I still have alot of no feedback buyers. I would estimate an average of 60 percent of your buyers will leave feedback.

Heck I saw a guy buy from me that had 1207 feebacks but never left 1 in return.

I never leave feedback first unless I am the buyer. If you are the seller and you leave feedback first you are just asking for trouble.

It won't happen again, I thought I would get more feedback if I left it first, wich I did, but now I'm in this position.

OH MY GOD I HATE PEOPLE
This must not be my day. I had a idiot email me all mad because the clothes she bought for 99 cents had a little bit of dog hair on them. (maybe she has never used a washer) My wife is nuts about vaccuming up dog hair so it can't be that bad. I don't know how much longer I can be nice to these stupid idiots. The lady only has a feedback of 2 yep thats right 2. I have not left her feedback yet what should I do. I emailed her and said if she sent the item back, I would refund her whole 99 cents. (I put it a little nicer though)

I feel your pain - thats why i burned out on ebay in november and just now started relisting items today - the nutsjobs just wear you out after awhile ...My FIRST BAD FEEDBACK was about 6 years ago a guy bought a MEN IN BLACK DVD new and sealed - it was the collectors series which i put in all the information - well when he paid thru paypal he put in the buyer notes-that if it was not the limited edition dont send it - well i didnt see this and even if i did the auction said it wasnt .. well i left him a positive feedback about 6 weeks after the transaction(figured everything ok) he than left me a negative and told me the info that was in the notes - pretty sneaky never sent me an email or anything or i would of refunded his money, i told him this he said it wasnt worth his time for me being such an idiot -------well lets just say i had a couple of friends and family members with ebay accounts that didnt use them- and this guy was also selling items so i got him back as they bid on a few of his items.YOu can guess the rest although he did have one friend bid on something and it got me another negative .

This stupid lady found 10 dog hairs on 2 outfits (2 hats, 2 dresses, 2 shorts) 10 hairs total, she counted them. She said it wasn't fair that I didn't put in the description that I had a dog. Don't fall off your chair yet. We may have a winner for the dumbest ebayer ever.
Keep in mind she paid 99 cents.

I'm starting a new thread for the dumbest ebay buyers stories.

This lady actually seems honest, she says she had it delivered to her office and she has not recieved it yet even after I sent the tracking. She said she is going to ask around her office today. I do belive her. She seems OK

I'm in the clear, she found it in her office and left positive feedback.

Hi
I have been selling on Ebay for about one year (as of now 100% positive), and I always leave feedback once the payment has been recieved. I have always thought that once the buyer pays me, they have upheld their part of the sale and that is what I am giving them feedback based on.
Am I better off waiting until the buyer has recieves their goods to ensure that they are happy with the product before leaving feedback??
I would love some advice from from experienced Ebayers! :D

You can't win either way.

If you leave feedback first, a buyer can blackmail you for pos feedback or give bad feedback for not reading your description, like recieving a medium shirt when they wanted a large.

If you wait for buyer feedback first, you probably only get 60% of your feedback you have earned.

The third option is to put restrictions on item that buyers must have a certain feedback to bid but this reduces your chance of selling. Most likely someone with higher feedback wants feedback also.

As you can see I've been woundering the same thing. I have been waiting about 7 days and leaving feedback but it's almost got me in trouble a couple times and I still don't get all my feedback.

I dont leave feedback unless I get it first. Its probably 1 reason I loose alot of feedbacks. But I dont care. If someone leaves me a negative. I want to be able to retailiate with a negative in return.

For one thing most negative feedbacks will come from a stupid 0 feedback that has no idea how to read an auction. And has very poor communications.

I even have it stated on all my ebay accounts, Me page that a negative feedback will result in a negative return. There is absolutely no problem that cannot be resolved through proper communication.

My only negative came from a zero feedback. That sent me a message about a problem then 2 hours responded with a negative feedback. The person did have a similar name to someone here. But I cannot verify if it is the same person. But cmon even in reality I would have to be sitting here all day to respond to every message within 2 hours.

Yeh, no feedback is better than negative. I just hate not to get feedback because mine is only at 57 but climbing.

The best scam temptative was last month. A guy bought a new Tablet PC for $980, shipped to his office with FedEx signature required :)
The Box arrives on Monday and the guy says come back on Thursday - weird. Thursday FedEx delivers and a lady signs the package let's call her Jane doe.
Friday the guy files a complain with eBay and PayPal for item not received... the money is withdrew from my paypal in seconds
I forward paypal the FedEx tracking info, FedEx is involved and calls me.
A week later, the guy admits that he asked Jane Doe to sign for him and sent me an email saying that he just tried.
Well, PayPal and FedEx didn't like it and filed a report at his county sherif office.
My money was back the next day, eBay remove the neg feedback and cancelled his account.

So if we do things correctly (tracking, signature, no over priced shipping costs...) and are victims of bad guys, FedEx, PayPal and eBay are covering us.

I purchased a slot machine system for 7 bucks.
I received the information and it was ok, but not
worth the money. I visit the cansino's
and play the slots once in while and thought
what the heck I'll try it in my next visit. Well
I haven't had a chance to go to the casino, and the guy was bugging me for a feedback. So I decided
that I would leave a nutrual because I had not tried the system...This guy sends me an email calling
me an idiot and everything else, he acted like I left him
a negative. But anyway he turns around and left me a negative, my first negative. I responded with

'God Bless you for your harsh words'.

If i am getting bugged for feedback , i usually tell them i have not had a chance to test the item or items and will leave feedback within the next 90 days and that usually seems to work .

Hi. Thanks for the great information! I almost got my first neg feedback the other day. A buyer contacted me through Ebay to say that the parcel I posted to them 2 weeks prior had still not arrived. She wanted me to check this out before she contacted Ebay and left feedback for me! (I always offer registered post - she wanted regular post - , as I claim no responsibilty for items lost in transit). I started to panic a bit  but after 3 phonecalls I found her parcel was sitting at a post office only a short distance from her postal address. The man at the post office said that it was not delivered due to roadworks and construction in her street.

I personally called the buyer and informed her of this, to which she told me that she was aware of the road closures and that no postal services were delivering in her area due to this!!! I didn't have the nerve to ask WHO she thought was delivering her parcel

In the end I got my positive feedback! :D
