I have a booth at a flea market that I sale things at and am wanting to sale cell phones. I currently can't find any in my price range, and I know that I need to start smaller and work my way up. My question is, what do product do you think would be good for me to sale to make up the money to get the TVs, game consoles, and cell phones that I really want to sale? What product would sale good and give me the profit I need to get the more expensive electronics?

Hi John,

I would probably have more luck telling you how long a piece of string is to be honest, there just isn't any possible way I could give you an absolute. If you have a market booth, then you yourself are probably in the best position to know what sells well there and what people are looking for. Have you considered buying a small load of surplus stock?

Surplus stock is usually very popular with market stall holders, so maybe worth looking at as an option for you perhaps. A few we have in our directory I would recommend would be VIA Trading. H&J Closeouts and Topper International.

Hello John,

My brother usually puts up booths at seasonal flea markets here in our area and in my experience, Marc is absolutely right in terms of Surplus items. They are easy to dispose of compared to the big ticket items, therefore, you would easily return your investment and get the products that you really want to sell.

You might want to consider a gimmick or a marketing scheme in terms of advertising your products at the flea market since the competition would also be stiff. Just like if the stall beside you has the same type of product. After all, in terms of eCommerce, how you present your product page is one way to generate more sales. It is not far off from actually selling at a flea market area. Buyers would always opt for what's pleasing to the eye.

I hope my insights helped. :)

Hi, John.

I find social media like Facebook and Twitter survey and trends is a great way to gauge what my target audience is looking for and I base my product line up with the results. It is of course not an absolute way to base your business or product demand, but you may want to use it as sort of getting the mass pulse.

Cheers!

Hi Preben and welcome to the forum,

It kind of depends on what type of supply source you are using really. For example, saying that iPhones are a hot selling item is no great surprise, but that' a tank with some big sharks swimming in it, so you can't even think of competing with a dropship model because you would have no chance.

So you really have to work out what supply chain you are going to follow and then research your market from there.

Cheers

You can also consider your location and what kind of people are around your booth. For example, if you are near a school, you can sell something that students would love to buy. Try doing a quick survey to help you filter the interest of your potential buyer. Also, consider choosing products that are necessity such as food and clothing. These are more feasible to earn bigger profit. If you are planning to sell those products which are in trend, make sure that you don't stick to it for a long time. You should think of a new product before your current item's trend ends.
