Hello missdeb,

Nice to have you with us :)

I would highly suggest going through our Link hidden: Login to view to help off to a good start. Learning about your market, your products and even your co petition is also an ideal start.

Do already know what types of product you want to sell? And have started searching for dropshippers that fit the bill?

When choosing a dropshipper be sure to check their warrant/returns policy, so you will know how to handle your customer returns.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

This is Ody, I am new member on SaleHoo and I am bronze top rated seller on eBay with only 291 positive feedback.

At the moment I am selling mobile accessories.
But it is not my plan to sale for too long this items as they are 100000000 of sellers selling the same products.

My main question is : What to sell ?
Same question I guess for many people right ?
I am thinking to go for 10 maybe more different product/categories to see what is the best and profitable product.

If any one of you have any suggestion please do :)

Hi ody and welcome to the forum

You're right of course, that is one of the most asked questions, also one of the hardest to answer. I don't think it's ever about ideas on what you can sell, it's more about what are you able to sell?

For example, if you can afford to purchase iPhone and pads by the container load to ensure the best possible price, then sell them at a reduced margin to generate volume turnover, then I would suggest that as my number one option. If you can't afford to do that, then I would suggest staying away from those products because you will be competing against sellers who are doing just that.

So you see, it's never a straight forward question to answer. Given that you have that bronze ranking means you are doing something right : )

Hi Oscar and welcome to the forum.

What to sell, it's one of the most asked questions we see here, and one that really has no answer. Online business like this is based on research, it takes time to research markets, look at competitors, cross reference all that information with suppliers and so on. It's just not a straight forward answer unfortunately.

Are you going to use a wholesale, dropship, liquidation or even second hand business model, all these types things play into where you will find a market.

Ive just started as well, but from the research i have done in the last 2wks, and seen on ebay alone, it seems like electronics, as in tablets and laptops do good if you can find them at the right price to where you can really make a good profit. Also if you plan on shipping through ebay, dont always go with there shipping reccomendation prices, ive learned my lesson on that.priority mail Flat rate shipping seems to be ur best bet, its a lil more expensive, not majorly, buts its a solid rate, that dont fluctuate, and leave u guessing what to charge.u can find prices on the USPS site.downside is you will have lots of competitors, but good brands and lots of pictures, video, and descriptions and detail help out alot! Just make a list of what you think would sell, then search through ebay and such to see going prices for them. Good luck to you hun! keep in touch and lmk how everything goes for u!

Hello there,

Finding a product with a high profit margin usually means finding a niche market.

Here are some products we have found to have good profit margins:

- Clothing
- Skin care (e.g. anti-ageing & acne treatment)
- Vacation-related items (swimsuits, crocs, sunblock)
- Homewares (towels, sheets)
- Accessories for electronics
- Crafts & hobby items
- Sporting goods
- Computers & computer parts
- Auto & motorbike
- Unique items/collectibles

One of the best ways of doing this is just by selling some stuff from around the house that you no longer need any more. In the process, you will often stumble across items that sell really well that you would never have otherwise picked!

Good luck :)

Hi
My name is Fritz. I'm new in SaleHoo. I like to start selling on eBay and amazon, and maybe later on open an online store. However, I do not have a clue what to sell. Can someone please give me some ideas how to start.
Thank you

Hello remtech500,

Welcome to SaleHoo! This is often the most common case among new online sellers so this should not stop you from realising your plans to succeed at selling online.

Here is a really helpful Link hidden: Login to view to help you overcome this hurdle.

All the best!

Fritz, I would stick with a particular product niche, don't try to sell anything and everything! I sell music t-shirts. Ebay is a great platform but I would also open a store online

Second Hand for me is the way to go, get out to some yard sales (garage sales) weekend markets, auctions, charity shops and so on. That's where you can find the bargains that no one else is selling.

Hi,

I am so excited about Salehoo. I have tried so many sites and I am hoping that I have found the last site that can help my dreams come true. I am wanting to start my own online store yet am having a hard time with my own niche market. I love many things not necessarily just one so it has been hard. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Are you looking at Wholesale, Dropship, Liquidation or Second Hand?

I would agree with Mark, Second Hand is always the safest option money wise and target audience, specially if you are just starting. You just need to know how and where to look for Second Hand stuff to get the best profit.

Hi, Ody.

Mark is absolutely correct that this is one hard question to answer, but putting my two cents in, basing on current state of online selling with effects from Social Media.

Social Media plays a very important role on what customers maybe looking for, I would suggest checking trends that reverberated in UK, US and Asia and it will surely be a seller. Women apparel and accessories, baby products-- this has only one target audience gender-- women. Find the need and fill it.

Hello Sharon,

Some say you start with your passion. But it seems like you have a lot as you've mentioned! :-)
Why not start by writing it down and as you try to go over it, narrow down which ones you think has a bigger market potential. Think of the market spenders. Who among are willing to spend for your product. Teenagers? What type of teenagers? Be specific when choosing your niche market. Then you can start thinking of what products to sell based on your interests.

Hi Mohamed and welcome to the forum,

If you are really inexperienced, a great place to start is a training centre. Plenty of helpful advice can be found there Link hidden: Login to view

Of course the forum itself also has a wealth of knowledge that has been shared by members with plenty of experience, so well worth reading through the forum as well.

Cheers

I also agree with Mark. You can also read this forum just to have more idea on selling second hand. Link hidden: Login to view

You can start your online business as selling second hand products. This will help you save additional income once you start trying brand new products.
