hi guys

i am a very sceptical businessman as i have lost many thousands of dollars bieng ripped off and certainly has made me more aware of whats out there.

i joined this salehoo site to check it out and see if infact this is a legit place to conduct my business.

i however have already found quite a few things that disturb and concern me so far:

1. some users in the forums do give very negative feedback about certain suppliers, yet after this seems like salehoo still supports those said suppliers.

2. some of those negative feedback suppliers are actual members of salehoo.

seems all too fishy for me, I would luv to hear from people that have been using salehoo as there information source in finding legit and good suppliers if possible.

now if my post affends salehoo in anyway and you decide to retract it then i guess thats the only answer i need, however any good business should be open to critism which will help them discover possible weaknesses and resolve them so other new users like me feel more comfortable with using this service.

Its obvious that as a businessman we have to do our homework on dealing with potential suppliers\exporters, and why not a better place then to start right here.

so please i would love to hear from everyone about your experiences on salehoo.com.

Thank you for your time and of course would be absolutly floored if my post lives long enough to be responded to.

my apologies to salehoo and or anyone that gets offended by my post but i need to know because if you have lived in my shoes for the last 3 months you too would be writing this exact post.

look forward to hearing from you all

Some valid points made! Points that I struggle with - see my post 'Salehoo recommends...' in the forum. I'm currently using a supplier that appears on theSalehoo list, but short of taking one of the items to a designated distributor/supplier, I have very little idea of whether the items I am selling are authentic. You would hope, assume even, that suppliers on the Salehoo list would be 100% - but aye, life ain't like that is it?

As you say, you have to do your own research on here and anywhere else you can and then weigh up the pros and cons.

Hello and dont worry, This post will not be deleted. We dont mind constructive criticism. As long as the topic stays on subject and does not become a flame post.

The questions you have asked have simple answers.

1. some users in the forums do give very negative feedback about certain suppliers, yet after this seems like salehoo still supports those said suppliers.

A. Yes the forums were designed for this very reason. To share experiences about suppliers. Ask questions that may have answers and to help educate new members so they dont make mistakes that many of us have.

Now we all know that in the buisness world that nothing is perfect. This is far from a perfect world. And yes there are many complaints about some suppliers. For instance Link hidden: Login to view gets many complaints. And we support them. The reason is that dhgate is a gateway to many suppliers that are legit and can provide valuable products to hundreds of members. But we do what we can to educate members in safe trade practices. I get more complaints about ebay then any other but I everyone still supports them as they are a gateway to starting a successfull buisness.

Places like liquidation.com gets many complaints but they also have thousands of regular and satisfied buyers. And these very same buyers know the ups and downs of dealing with them. You should also take note that many complaints we get come from people that werent properly educated in paying attention to small details that can make a big difference in weather or not they get junk or actually valuable items.

Untill I get solid proof that a supported company is purposely screwing over members I shall support them so long as we have members supporting them.

2. some of those negative feedback suppliers are actual members of salehoo.

Yes this is true. I know of at least 2 that are actuall members here. And I think this is great. A seller having to answer to the buyer on one of the largest wholesale databases on the net. This not only puts the seller on the spot to prove his worth. Or puts him to shame killing thousands of potential buyers that they could have had.

I have also seen some suppliers pull through with thier customer service skills to complete the transactions successfully. And I love it.

my apologies to salehoo and or anyone that gets offended by my post but i need to know because if you have lived in my shoes for the last 3 months you too would be writing this exact post.

No need for apologies. Many of us have been in your same shoes. And many have lost way more then you can imagine. Ive been in those very same shoes myself for 10 years straight loosing thousands upon thousands of dollars. Too bad places like salehoo forums didnt exist then.

If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask anyone in the forums. We have many members that will try and help you if they know the answer and many more that can advise you if you need it. :D

thank you for your reply jimmy, very valid answers, this post has certainly no intention of bieng a flamming post but possibly a post that other new people like myself can use to make them feel alot more comfortable with the services that salehoo provides.

now if this site is what it says its about then my prayers have been answered as i have tried to find something like this for a very long time and the only reason i found this site was by pure accident.

Jimmy, I left a review on a listed supplier which was negative due to the non response to 2 consecutive emails I sent. The company states that they get back to you within 24 hours.
I had read, elsewhere, a few negative things which weren't really substantiated and I told him I would like to deal with him but first had to do some more checking. I feel that he may have been offended but from my point of view it made me feel that it would be unwise to deal with his company.
When I left the review I received a response that Salehoo would review it before allowing it to be listed.
To date I have not received any reason for it not appearing. If we are to be an important cog in this wheel it would help if there was more communication otherwise we, as potential purchasers don't know who to trust.

Well Im not sure how long it takes for personal reviews to be placed as I dont handle that part of the site. I do work on salehoo supplier reviews when I have time aside from the forums and my own company.

It may be that your review has been overlooked or just has not been reviewed by a salehoo staffmember yet. They review them to keep inappropriate remarks and foul language off the reviews. Right now were working on a huge amount of new things which most of you will see soon, So its just possible noone has revied your review yet. Im sure that when this big project is complete they should have time to get back to the review sections.

In keeping with the original post, this is what I have been wondering myself:

In addition to businesses with negative feedback, there are posts in this forum asking whether a particular supplier is LEGIT at all to begin with (I myself asked/posted one such message and Jimmy kindly replied with some research on the suppliers I inquired about. One he said was good, the other iffy (paraphrasing, not intending to put words in his mouth here)).

So my point is, should we be having a forum where subscribers to Salehoo need to even inquire whether a supplier in the Salehoo database is LEGIT at all to begin with? In other words, if we are paying for a service to provide us with a directory, that should be more than a random directory, but a tested and true one, I would think. This is not to say suppliers need to be perfect and that we customers, won't have any issues dealing with them, as this is part of business and beyond Salehoo's control (as Jimmy pointed out, they can be put on the spot here to provide better service, if anything, but I woudl say, as long as they are within the boundaries of LEGIT)). However, shouldn't Salehoo be ascertaining the legitimacy of the companies listed (especially maybe the ones abroad) to begin with? (like World Wide Brands supposedly does - supposedly b/c I actually never used their service, but read where they said everyone on their list is LEGIT and confirmed by them one by one).

To recap: In my opinion, Salehoo should go a step further in ascertaining the legitimacy of every single supplier they have domestically and abroad to provide a substantial value added over a free search engine search that would turn up suppliers. This is how my thinking goes at the moment.

What do you guys think?

barakah.

Some good points here..I have made similar comments myself when I was a regular member. From my understanding, when the list was created all the suppliers at that time had been reviewed prior to being placed on the list at the creation of this site.

But things that are out of our control is, if these companies continue to live up to thier end of the bargain. That is why the member review process was created. If a company gets too many complaints then the site admin will ask us to do a mystery buyer review of that seller. If they fail to deliver then we remove them from the site.

We just recently had a similar issue with chen davis our nike global supplier. He didnt deliver to our mystery buyer review and was removed from our directory.

You can only do so much when reviewing companies to put on your list.

We are working on a revision of the reviews but its a tedious process. I am one of the reviewers and when I have the time to do some reviews I try to get them done.

I also have an average 4-6 reviews a day I do on sites for members that leave me personal questions about suppliers.

And to point out the obvious. There is no way. And I mean no way a company can guarantee that all thier suppliers are legit and will stay legit.

I can talk to you on the phone till my face turns blue and you can tell me you are legit. But the only way to prove it is through exceptional customer service and delivery of products ordered by your customers.

This makes since.

There are always going to be times in a business where unfortunate things happen. You have to weigh the ratio of amount of satisfied customers against unsatisfied.

If a business pulls thousands of happy customers and only get a few complaints then this is a very good ratio.

If a business pulls only 25 business and half are un-satisfied customers then i would not do business with them.

No business is perfect, things are gonna happen. Just have to consider how often.

There is really NO supplier that exists, who has not got a set of bad suppliers or iffy transactions and issues.

So the idea is to put them ALL on a list, like Salehoo has done, and set up a rating system to see how they are performing.

Like someone said earlier this puts suppliers on the spot right here, and all over, to either deliver or step out of the game.

And in many cases, it has in fact worked.

Suppliers many people have had trouble with have shaped up, and started providing accurate service. It offers a proving ground and a much needed source to improve relations OVERALL I would say....

There may be a whole collection of suppliers who are bad at one particular site, and you just don't know until you check them out. Because the other 60% may be completely legitimate, but to begin with the only way you'll know is on a list ranking system.

So I think the list ranking system is the best idea, probably overall and to just keep refining the ranking system.

If you have problems with that/his/her particular supplier, you can then report them and warn people off of that and to go to another one thus forcing them to shape up their policies.

And if not many times they can be banned, until deciding to improve and then it looks like they come back as members.

But the biggest pro is, despite those stipulations, that EVERY single supplier and most of the biggest distributors/suppliers are located on a single list here at Salehoo.

And they are ranked in order, according TO people's experience of them and how many are good and how many are bad, from website to website, so that you can weed out the illegitimate ones the soonest and alert anyone coming into do business.

That could also make a much bigger difference once they implement a cross check list, so you can compare one supplier's vendor service to another......and see how they stack up!
