Hi,

I have been busy doing flea market sales here in Dubai.

I have received a consignment from india of plastic, aluminium and brass bangles. It is huge quantity and will take more than 2 years to sell in my experience of selling at flea markets.

Any advice on alternative ways to sell would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards.

Parcel it up and put in on eBay as wholesale lots.

Hi fm1234,

I appreciate your response. I cannot sell on Ebay due to high costs. Any other means of selling would be appreciated.

Kind regards.

Well, I'd suggest "same idea, different venue" but not sure which sites are both cheaper than eBay and worth bothering with -- as much as I dislike eBay, most other sites where I've tried to sell over the years have failed to come anywhere close in terms of buyer interest and sales volume. But again, with that kind of quantity onhand, parceling it up as wholesale is probably your best bet, esepecially if you'd like to move it faster than two years.

OK, just throwing up some ideas here, but how about establishing a party plan type set up. No idea how party plan works there, but on the face of it, seems like it is a product genre that may well lend itself to a party plan platform.

Maybe even develop that idea further by adding associated products to enhance the range you already have.

The other thing you could do is distribute your wares through other sellers in different markets, even through counter displays in retail outlets by establishing a commission based structure for sellers.

You have the advantage of having stock in hand, and that is an advantage when looking at selling opportunities. You know your market far better than myself, so look at being a little creative and all sorts of opportunities may open up for you.

:)

Thanks fm1234 and Fudjj,

I have 455 dozen bangles
1100 pair of earings
800 boxes of bangles

You see we are in the process of moving to Nigeria due to my husbands job transfer in 2 months. There are so many things that need to be done before moving as I have 2 school going children.

I have been doing well at flea markets until now and was even thinking of getting a business licence to order goods from China as there is going to be a trade show of chinese suppliers in Dubai.

After trying out with a lot of products in the last 4 years I finally settled on toys and electronic cigarettes.

This consignment was sent to me without my approval and since family is involved I have no choice but to try and sell these jewellry for them.

If I had the time I would probably have not been so distressed.

Still I am talking to wholesalers here in Dubai to see if I can sell the whole lot.

Thanks for your kind advice.

OK, you're looking for a very quick sale then. I wouldn't waste my time with trying to sell to wholesalers who are only going to try and low ball you, if you find one interested at all. You need to focus on taking this to retailers and selling at a wholesale price or below to sweeten the deal.

Find retailers selling the same genre or close to it, even other market traders. That's where you will move bulk products in a hurry, retailers are always looking for the right priced goods, and you'll have a much better chance of getting a better price than trying to sell to wholesalers!

You may well find that breaking the load down into smaller wholesale lots will also make them easier to sell.
