I've been getting a few PMs lately in regards to website development. members looking for advice on having their own e-commerce site developed.

Now let me start bay saying there are plenty of ready made options out there to choose from, including of course the newly released SaleHoo Stores platform, which I absolutely recommend for members starting out!

That said, it's really a horses for courses type thing. These ready made platforms are an easy way to get yourself established in the online world of e-commerce, however there will always be some that would much prefer to develop something more tailored to suit their specific requirements.

Of course having sites custom developed isn't the cheapest way to go, however if that's what you would prefer, then I am happy to introduce you to my own website developer.

Vasily has been doing work for me for a while now and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone. 1st rate work, excellent communication and extremely inexpensive rates.

I can't personally quote, so please don't ask. That said, the average e-commerce platform, with built in admin, will set you back in the region of $200 - $400 dollars US, but it really does depend on just how complex you want it.

As I said, my recommendation for members just starting out would be to go with a ready made platform, especially one of our own SaleHoo Stores where you have full support on hand.

For those with the experience wanting to start getting serious, then PM me and I'll put you in contact with Vasily.

Please don't waste my or his time, only request his contact details if you are serious.

Cheers

Hi There,

I found one through intuit since my quickbooks and accounting is through them as well. They have nice layouts, and many of them are free. I have a freebie one and it's been working. I will eventually meet with a web designer, but I figured that would do for the time being. And it's been bringing in traffic. Now, All I have to do iis get my website verified with SaleHoo and then I can start marketing and promoting on here as well.

I know this is totally random and unrelated to the topic at hand, but how do we change our profile picture?

Changing profile pic, just select Members Home in the red title bar, then select profile, and there you will be able to edit all info.

In regards to verifying your website for SaleHoo, you are of course most welcome to submit an application for approval. However, just bare in mind that as a rule, we won't usually consider verifying any site that is under two years old for trading safety reasons.

In regards to website platforms, SaleHoo currently has an insane offer on it's store platform for all members. Great opportunity to get a quality e-commerce platform for next to nothing at the moment, so check that out!

Thanks Marc,

Going off the subject a little here--But, I am wondering why SaleHoo must be up and running for 2 years before saleHoo can automatically verify it. I contacted support via email and they gave me directions as to how to validate it. What is frustrating is that I can validate it on my end when I push the "verify" button for the website link and saleHoo says they will update in 24 hrs but so far, nothing. And, I am still stuck as "unverified." I PM richelle because every time I call SaleHoo for support it always goes straight to the answering machine. Are there no customer service personal and physically takes calls? I've been calling for the last few weeks and not 1 phone call has been returned. Do you know why this is? I get emails from the support staff but it would be nice to actually speak to someone, or have someone call to help and guide me through some things.

With regard to being a supplier, because my website is not verified yet, can I still respond to forums and postings if people are looking for products that I can offer? I understand I cannot post certain things about my company until it is verified, but I want to be able to reach out to people and let them know what I have to offer. That's why I joined SaleHoo, was to build a clientele and referral base. Per Richelle, I should not refrain from PM'ing people until verified, but I disagree that I should not be able to message people or let them know about my company.

Sorry to sort of of vent here, of all places, but when I can't get help or speak to someone it makes me a little upset and not want to be affiliated with a company that puts such restraints on its customers.

Ay advice or input you could share would be much appreciated. Thanks

Also,

I saw a buyer on the Member's Home page that was looking for something that I sell. I left him a message saying that my page is not verified as of yet so I cannot move forward with helping him in his request, but as soon as it is I will be contacting him. My post was erased. Why is that? On top of my frustration, this is just added frustration:(

Kimi,

I noticed your post on the other thread, and while you did follow the rules in not trying to sell any product without being authorised, your post made it quite obvious what you were in fact considering selling upon verification.

As most of our members here are very inexperienced, we take the trading safety of our members as a priority. Because you had made it quite obvious as to what product you had available, I felt that an inexperienced member could easily be lured into sending you the PM for more details, and that posed a safety risk in itself.

That's was why I made the decision to remove that post.

We see all sorts of ways unauthorised sellers try to target members by circumventing our rules. Now I'm not accusing you of that, I actually think that you were trying to do the right thing, but it would have been far better not to mention anything about supplying products to anyone, far better to wait until you are in an authorised position to do that to avoid any issues.

I would ask that you refrain from further mention of any possible supply of any products until you have applied, and been approved by our verification team as an approved supplier.

Thanks

Hi Kimi,

In regards to customer support, I am unaware of when you are actually calling, but telephone support isn't from the US, so perhaps that's what is causing the problems there. If you leave Irene a PM with your number, she will return your call in person.

If I can be of any assistance at any time, you are of course welcome to PM me.

In regards to what information you are permitted to include in your posts about the supply of products. I've actually just covered this in the post below, sorry, a little back to front, but I read that one first.

To to cover that once more, we ask that any supplier refrain from any talk of supplying products before they are verified. Even though you may not be sending any member a private message in regards to what you can offer, nothing is stopping them from sending you a PM out of curiosity.

In essence it is circumventing the rules we have in place for the trading safety of our members. Because many are inexperienced, by trading with an unauthorised supplier they are putting themselves at risk.

Once verified, you are permitted to openly market your products to our members, in fact we encourage it, but until we can assure our members of a safe trading environment with your company, we can't allow them to be at risk while on our watch.

Thanks
