Hi Rey, and welcome to the site.

Helpful little bunch we have around here, and you can request assistance from myself with a PM or the support of staff in sourcing suppliers by emailing Link hidden: Login to view if required.

Take a good look through the supplier directory and and have a read through the forum, I'm sure you will find it all very helpful.

Hello my name is Greg i have been looking in DHgate for wholesale prices on ipods and such. Reading the myths i wanted to know if the ipods they have for sale are the real thing, or the black market stuff. Some claim they are originals and some state they are copies. How do you tell with appearance and functionality? What is actually the wholesale cost for these particular items?

Stay away from DHgate for Ipods (or as I like to call them Ifrauds) DHgate has it's good suppliers and I do order products from them. But my wife ordered a couple of them and they do not sync with Itunes and have other problems. After a few negative feedbacks on Ebay we refunded the money and decided to give the returned ifrauds to our kids. With techsmart kids they have even commented on the fact that in their words 'these things totally suck'

Hi Frank,

The fact that the company is asking that you mention SaleHoo in your inquiry could indicate that they are either offering a special promotion to SaleHoo members, or they are just collecting market research and are counting howe many sales are being made through their association with SaleHoo and its members.

The easiest way to make your membership here known is to include it it your first line.

eg: Dear Sir/Madam, my name is Frank *, Upon recently joining SaleHoo.com I came across your companies name while searching through the supplier directory, and would like to ask several questions of the products and services that you offer.............

Something along those lines will be quite suitable.

: )

Hello all...

I am a new member, and I love this site. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after a couple of hours digging around, I realized my membership fee was money well spent.

In fact, today I found a liquidator through SaleHoo, and I've purchased a minimal amount of DVD's to sell. We'll see how that goes.

And I was wondering how this sounds (fudjj):

I have also found a liquidator that is selling 300 pieces of 'First Quality' women's clothing, sizes 0-16, at $5 a piece. From the picture, it seems as if all have tags. I've also searched the liquidator on this community forum, and they seem to have the thumbs up. I'm interested, but I want to know first, in your opinion, does this sound like a worthwhile investment?

Thanks.

Hi avb,

Sorry about the delayed response, but I only just found the post :(

At $5.00 a unit, I have never seen anything close to that price for A1 stock of any well respected brand name, so if you can verify the stock is good and the supplier is solid, then I would doubt you could do better.

For example, our A1 branded M*cys stock, we sell at around the $20.00 mark on average, but that stock has retail prices that go up around $200.00.

Cheers

Hi PicNSave,

If you just want to place a post in a thread, open the thread and at the bottom of the page you will see the text frame. Just enter the post in there and press submit to make the post.

If you want to specifically respond to someone's pot, you can select the quote button that is displayed beside their id, then enter you message and submit once more.

If you would like to start a new thread, in the menu on the left you will see the Forum Home option. Select that and the select the category that best suits your post, then select the New Topic button top left, and away you go : )

All these come from alibab.com, chinavicion, worldwidebrands.com, LightInTheBox Newsletter, DHgate.com, Made-in-China.co.
And I wish I could say that pain if they are to trust or not.
Could give the website of these companies.
And another question is where I was advised that original COPRE phones, laptops, video consoles and radio and DVD screens for cars?

Hi Brenda and welcome to the site.

Regarding issues with your current supplier, I would suggest you contact them personally with the problem you are experiencing and they should be able to assist.

Short of that, perhaps if you posted under (general) the exact problem you are having, someone may well have some advice for you.

Cheers

Hi,

I joined Salehoo today, as I'm looking for uk wholesalers that sell high end fragrances.

Problem is all I've managed to find on here is contacts I already had.
Does anyone know of any good reliable suppliers in uk?

Also... alot of US wholesalers, I'm not sure where I stand with taxes etc.

Am I best sticking with uk suppliers?

Would appreciate any help on this

Thanks,

Di

Hi all,

Greetings from a new member, I joined last week and was taking my time to get a feel of the Salehoo community. I am new to selling and I am aware that I have a long journey ahead. I am working on what products to sell and will sure get back to you with a lot of questions!

Good to know that now I will not be alone since I am part of the wonderful Salehoo community. I am overwhelmed at the support offered by Salehoo staff and members. Only issue I have right now is, I am not able to send PM's properly, still I have one message sitting in my Outbox - Salehoo staff please look into this at your earliest.

Regards
Mah

Do we have a glass supplier in Australia that can supply me with bulb pots - I do not want to use Aussie Candle Supplies. They have not once had the style of containers I'm after and when I complained sent me an email that made me want to desperately change suppliers.

Hi guys,

Been registered for a while but only just started to do this in ernest. I am in the Caribbean (Trinidad) and keep running into obstacles with Tax/SSN and no international shipping. Can anyone give some advice.

Hi Kev,

I will try to address your concerns to the best that I can.

First, with regards to your obstacles with Tax/SSN, you can try
visiting your government's official website [Link no longer available] and check out your options from there.

Please note that this piece of paper goes by many aliases! The sales tax Id is also called a Retail or Reseller's License, State Sales Tax Id, Tax Id, Resale Number, Resale Certificate, or Vendor's License. All of these names are referring to one thing: A certificate issued for a small fee by your state (if you live in Canada or the US) that says you are registered to collect sales tax. A seller's permit is required for retailers who buy or sell tangible, taxable items. It is required to buy wholesale and sell retail or sell wholesale.

WHEN DO YOU NEED A SELLER’S PERMIT (SALES TAX ID)?

* If you live in the USA or Canada. Most states have a sales tax, but there are a couple that don’t. If you reside in one of these states just let the wholesaler know and they may have a different form or requirement for you to complete.
* If you sell online to make money (i.e. You sell more seriously than just getting rid of a few old things from around the house every now and then). You need a seller’s permit so you can charge and collect taxes, which you’ll pay to your state government later.
* If you want to purchase goods wholesale from a US supplier (and you are also based in the US), you need a seller’s permit to buy wholesale sales tax free.

Although it’s not necessary for SaleHoo members to have a seller’s permit and a registered business for them to use many of the suppliers in our directory, we strongly recommend you get one as it will give you access to even MORE wholesalers.

And secondly, with regards to international shipping, most suppliers will ship internationally although it may not always be mentioned outright on their sites. You could always try asking them directly as most of them are willing to arrange international shipment. Remember that every shipment means a sale on their part.

Hope this helps. Cheers :)

Hello all, this seems to be a nice friendly place with plenty for sensible advice . I'm looking forward to learning more about selling.

Have been selling for a few years - but not constant due to health problems. Just want to make enough money to keep my head above water and also have an interest.

Hi Dane1612,

Welcome to the site.

What to sell, the six million dollar question, and to be honest there is no simple answer. Will depend on how much working capital you have to invest, where you are going to sell, available storage space and so on.

It all comes down to market research to find the right products for your market, but the good news is that the forum is full of great advice and plenty of helpful tips......not to mention the great members and staff who are never too far away for lending a hand when required.

Cheers

Hi dane1612,

Generally it's best to start selling something you are interested in because you are going to be spending a LOT of time thinking about it! Do you love fashion or movies? Perhaps you feel excited about the thought of new gadgets and technology? It's likely that there are plenty of other people who also share your interest - giving you an instant audience for your product. One idea is to jot down your interests and then make a list of products that are related to these interests.

Hi vanjoan,

Welcome to SaleHoo! It's great to have you onboard!

The first thing we suggest you do is decide what type of products you want to sell. One idea is to jot down your interests and then make a list of products that are related to these interests (we recommend staying away from electronics to begin with as warranty issues can be complicated to manage).

Once you've thought of a couple of ideas, it's time to start researching suppliers. This is where SaleHoo comes in. Use the search box (top left corner in the members area of every page) to look for the product(s) you want to sell. When you've found some suppliers who fit the bill, send them an email asking what the best possible price is that they can give you for the products you wish to buy. A small tip for you: if you buy 20+ units at a time, you should be able to negotiate a better deal. It's also a good idea to contact more than 1 supplier before you start buying to compare prices.

Hope this helps! Cheers :)

How come when I look at all the wholesale stores in this directory and then look at the same merchandise from these wholesale stores being sold on ebay. that the prices sold on ebay are still cheaper than I can purchace the product from the wholesaler in this directory.

Hi 4ones,

eBay has become an extremely competitive marketplace and it is not uncommon to find products selling at prices the same as or lower than wholesaler.

How can this be? Because lots of wholesalers sell on eBay directly to the public! Unfair yes, but its the reality.

You will have to be pretty savvy and innovative to survive selling on eBay these days.

Cheers :)

More on what Richelle has already highlighted, you have to bare in mind that wholesale price is based on volume. Prices you will see from genuine wholesale
suppliers are base prices, they can't give you a volume price until they know how many units you are going to purchase.

Prices on ebay are set at wholesale for the most part, so if you are going to compete using a wholesale market, you are going to need to buy in serious volume to even have a chance against some sellers, and even then you won't be able to compete against many as they are either wholesalers themselves, or they are buying in such large volume that you don't have a chance to compete.

You should consider all product sources when it comes to ebay, including liquidation and second hand, don't limit yourself to wholesale because if you don't have the budget to get wholesale volume discounts, then you are wasting your time for the most part.

Hi 4ones,

Richelle and fudjj are right. eBay is one of the most competitive marketplaces and it's not as easy to make money as it used to be.

What can you do about it?

* Order in bulk quantities to drive the wholesale price down.
* Sell on another auction site other than eBay – there are heaps to choose from and profit margins are usually better. Craigslist is also a good place to sell if you live in the USA. (Let us know if you need more suggestions for places to sell online)
* Buy liquidation – this lets you get product for pennies on the dollar.
* Find a niche market with few competitors – collectibles and one-off items have amazing profit margins, even on eBay.

Sing out if you have any other questions and we’ll be glad to help.

Hello All,

Just joined SaleHoo a few hours ago, and since then, I've been reading every single tip that might help. I'm interested in drop shipping for now. I'll appreciate it if you can give me some tips.

And one other thing, are there any Turkish drop shippers in the lists?

Thanks in advance :)

And one other thing, are there any Turkish drop shippers in the lists?

Thanks in advance :)

Doga

Hi wholelotagifts, and welcome to SaleHoo.

When you open a suppliers profile from the directory there is a link to their website to select where you are able to view their products.

If there is a problem with links not working, or another issue that is preventing you from accessing that information, just send some specific details of the problem you are currently experiencing direct to Link hidden: Login to view, and someone will be able assist you further.

Hi everyone,

My name is Hyacinth and I live in Jamaica. I am new and just start reading up about ebay and buying wholesale. I am thinking of buying wholesale clothing for retail sales.

Like many of you I have very limited resources and buying in $US means that I have to convert my currency at 90:1.

At the moment ebay seem almost impossible for me as I can't think of what to sell and stocking up on goods may not make sense as importing goods for export would mean financial suicide.

Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

Hi Hyacinth,

Welcome to SaleHoo!

Drop shipping wouldn't be such a bad idea. Though it may require you to pay a small fee on top of the wholesale cost of the product to cover the drop shipper's time spent packaging and posting the item, still, it is a simple way to start a business, and in the long term, having some of your inventory drop shipped allows you to offer a broader range of items to your customers without the risk of holding stock.

If you haven't yet, check out our blog and Learning Centre and FAQ section for more information on drop shipping and some ideas on what to sell:

Hello All...My name is Sherman and I come from Auckland, New Zealand. I have always been interested in ways to increase my income, and there seems to be different paths that one can take. I am currently looking through the material here, and like the looks of drop-shipping and buying in bulk.

I would like to more about doing business globally from a NZers perspective, as we seem to be far away from it all.

Sherman.

Welcome to the site, Helen. It's great to have you on board.

To quick search drop ship suppliers located in the UK, just use the 'All Suppliers' drop-down box, and click Advanced Search and Search SaleHoo. Enter the product/brand you wish to find suppliers for and change the Supplier type to 'Dropshippers Only'. Then select 'United Kingdom (UK)' from the Supplier location menu. Or you can use the Sort by country option at the top right corner, just select 'United Kingdom (UK)' from the drop down menu.

Hope that helps. All the best!

This is such a great site for the newbies it has so much information to offer, but where do you start, when you've got NO IDEA on a product, and never done this stuff before? I have read alot about dropshipping which sounds like the easiest thing to start off with, but I'd prefer to start off importing (small quantities) MAYBE? If anyone in NZ can offer me some advice on what I can & what I can't import, that would be much appreciated, thank you Liz.

Hello to everyone, I just joined after thinking about this for a long time. I am looking into buying from liquidations and selling part of it in the US, but mostly importing to Europe as I have sales channel available.

There is a lot of information to digest in here and I am happy that I decided to finally join.

Well,

After ALOT of studying, ALOT of reading, testing of other sites, planning, and expenses arising not even pertaining to the online market (hard drive crash, printer ink cartridge exploding--that one was weird) I am FINALLY here, albeit with very little sleep yet again lol.

I have gone everywhere, and like I said, I have searched, and educated myself alot (I still have A LONG way to go -- as does everyone who is new, or not so new... Education never stops, businesses grow from education!)

I was going to hold off with paying my fee until I was comfortable with the amount of information I had found out, but then I figured, the hell with it, I might as well pay the fee, see what the members only section of the website offers, and while I am testing the waters, why not sell one or two items on ebay, and possibly more through free options (can someone email me as to whether or not salehoo can be linked onto facebook-there is a site that does that and I really REALLY like that option!)

My view as of right now is to start in the drop-ship sector, because of the non-existent overhead, the variety of product available, and the fact that first off I need to build a rapor and some funds in order to buy major stock, I am just curious as to what other people think about drop-shipping. I have read about the good and the bad, and seen some "testimonials" in regards to drop-shipping, however, (I say this as a statement as well as proven advice to those new to the site as well) DON'T TRUST EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET!

hi all.. just joined today after 2 years lol..

i came across a salehoo advertisement a couple years back while googling wholesale suppliers but was hesitant to join as i thought it was 1 of those get me rich scams..

u know the 1's, "how to become rich selling e-books" that costs you $29, only to learn you paid that money to learn how to decieve someone else lol..

but yea after some random google searches again lastnite salehoo popped up again, and this time i looked up some reviews & read some forum posts on here that i found on google..

so here i am.. :D

not sure what im looking for yet, i want a change of direction from clothing..

so i will happily browse forum threads & wholesale directorys & see if anything interests me in the coming months..

hope to make some nice contacts here, that goes for general friends who offer nice advice..

karma can be a good thing when your intentions are right..

thats all from me.. for now.. bye bye

So, I've finally taken the plunge and gotten a tax id and business license for my state. I have somewhat of an idea as to products I would like to sell. Now I am trying to determine if I should open an ebay store or just use ebay as I always have. Should a newbie open a store and pay the $15 a month or wait to see how things go?

Hi jnls4,

I think the decision about opening an eBay store should really be governed by the amount of stock you will be listing. Your tax id is now going to open up other supply avenues for you through wholesalers, but unless you are using that to increase your stock profile, then if you were happy with how you were using eBay before, I wouldn't think there would be a great deal of use upgrading.

Perhaps just increase you profile slowly, that will give you a good indication of if a store is a valid option for you or not.

: )

Hi aaron, and welcome to SaleHoo. Nice to you have you with us.

We have Topper International onboard here as an approved seller, they are a trusted liquidator. I would also throw in www.viatrading.com as another very well respected liquidator.

If I read your post correctly, you're in the UK. If so, you won't have much option to purchase liquidated stock. The two companies I have highlighted here are both US based, as is 99% of all liquidators.

I do know Via Trading ship internationally, I'm pretty sure that Topper do as well, but shipping to the UK may not be an option, especially if you're on a tight budget like many.

Drop Shipping may be an option for you, but let us know the types of products you are interested in and the support team will do their best to dig up some leads for you to get started.

Cheers

I am new to salehoo and have read your above posting and completley agree with the money being in liquidation and wholesale. I however was hoping that because I literally have no money to save up, that maybe I could start out by dropshipping and when I reach a certain point I could take that money and invest it in either of the above. My problem being I have already opened an ebay store was selling the odd thing from home, making no profit, and now cannot figure out for the life of me what to dropship. It doesn't need to be a huge profit maker but something that sells so that over time my feedback and profits grow enough to reinvest. If anybody could mention or narrow down the market alittle that would be great. Even a few ideas. Does dollar store stuff work? Should I stick just with the US even though I reside in Canada because of customs ect.. I would so appreciate any advice. I am racking my brain trying to figure out what to list.Thank you.

Hi Alfredo,

You're not alone there in not quite being sure what to try, it's an issue with almost everyone that is starting out in Drop Shipping without any firm ideas.

The common sense approach would be to sell something you know well, something that you have an interest in, as that always make marketing a product a lot easier. Unfortunately, not always possible to do that with the amount of Drop Shipping competition getting around, but it's an area that I would be looking at first.

It's always easier to highlight areas that you shouldn't be looking at, rather than areas that you should to be honest. For example it's easy for me to say not to worry about chasing Drop Shippers for the hottest selling items on eBay as the market is completely saturated and you would have no chance of competing with a Drop Shipping business model.

As I said, that's easy for me to highlight, what isn't so easy is highlighting what is a good option for you. You can check eBay Pulse for the top selling items, but again, that's going to be a seriously competitive market. My own personal opinion is that Drop Shipping best works for the more niche type products, and there is no easy answer as to what they are.

I've known people that have spent well over a year just on research alone, then more time on test marketing products before they were happy. Then again I know people that hit a rich vein of sales inside the first few weeks of trading.

I'm sure some of the support staff may well have some ideas for you to chase up : )

Hi and welcome to SaleHoo, Alfredo!

I agree with Marc. There is a big difference between what is ‘hot’ and what will actually make you money. The reason being that ‘hot’ products have so much competition, sometimes they are below wholesale on eBay, and the only way anyone can make money on these type of prices is if they are buying in such large quantities they are able to drive the wholesale price down, or if they are buying liquidation (but you already know that!).

Now finding a niche market with few competitors isn’t necessarily that easy to do, but to help you get started, try using these three questions to come up with some ideas for niche markets to target -

1. What are your hobbies? (Fishing, hunting, scrapbooking, cooking, photography, languages)
2. What do people tell you you’re good at?
3. What would you like to be able to buy online but have trouble finding?

You'll also find our resource area and blog very useful for getting ideas on what type of products to sell. If you haven't already done so, check out -

Hi Jimmy! Do you have a wholesaler, liquidator, or manufacturer recommendation to go to for good wholesale prices? One where you can at least double the return on your money.

Hi Balljoja,

You've definitely come to the right place to find some excellent dropshippers and wholesalers with great prices and service.

I suggest, though, that you be careful about your expectations. It's almost impossible to obtain double what you've paid for ANY product online, unless you have unlimited funds with which to purchase huge bulk lots of products up front, and even then, it's difficult to obtain 100% profit.

Instead, I would recommend aiming for 10-35% profit among the products you're researching, at least to start. Believe it or not, that's a very healthy profit margin range to obtain, especially when you're first starting out.

Good luck to you! It's a wild ride!

Hi Nicole123,

Welcome!

First of all, I would stick with U.S. suppliers if you're concerned about authenticity. Either that, or make sure that any supplier outside the U.S. has been thoroughly reviewed and vetted, such as the verified suppliers listed on Salehoo.

I'm not sure if you've already looked in the Salehoo directory for MAC makeup yet, but a few minutes ago, when I typed "mac makeup" into the search field on the main Salehoo directory page, a list of 7 suppliers came up:

Three of the 7 suppliers don't have any reviews yet, but they've still been investigated and vetted by Salehoo.

The highest-rated supplier on the list is FragranceNet.com, and the second-highest is kcpwholesale.com. I visited both of their websites, and both of them have MAC makeup products listed.

I hope that helps!
