Which do I apply for: tax ID no. or Reseller's Certificate?

I have filed for EIN number and received it. I also filed for a Certificate of Resale through my state, and received it. On the papers that I got for resale, I don't have a Tax ID number with it, just an account number. What I am wondering, is there something else I need to file for in order to get a Tax ID number, or can I just use the Certificate of Resale?

Hello John,

The sales tax Id is also called a Retail or Reseller's License, State Sales Tax Id, Tax Id, Resale Number, Resale Certificate, or Vendor's License.

* If you live in the USA or Canada. Most states have a sales tax, but there are a couple that don't. If you reside in one of these states just let the wholesaler know and they may have a different form or requirement for you to complete.

* If you sell online to make money (i.e. You sell more seriously than just getting rid of a few old things from around the house every now and then). You need a seller's permit so you can charge and collect taxes, which you'll pay to your state government later.

* If you want to purchase goods wholesale from a US supplier (and you are also based in the US), you need a seller's permit to buy wholesale sales tax free.

* If your business is a sole proprietorship with no employees, you can use your own Social Security number as your Taxpayer Identification Number, since the government doesn't draw any legal distinction between your business and your personal finances. If you have any other business structure or you have employees, you must get a separate Employer Identification Number from the IRS. (Sole proprietors without employees can also get an EIN if they choose.) The IRS allows you to apply for and receive an EIN in minutes online.

Hope this helps! :)

Okay, thank you. I was a bit confused on that.
I have one last question.

I've been searching through the site for drop-shippers who have laptops and Smart / 3D TVs. I've found a few sites that say they have them in the description, but don't when I go to their webpage. Are there any legit sites on here that do in fact handle in laptops and Smart / 3D TVs who do drop-shipping?

Hi John,

Can you let us know which ones are listing them as available through them, but not stocking them at all so we can follow up for you please.

Cheers

Thank you for the quick responses. The only two sites that I can find right this minute that appeared mis-leading were, HL Dalis Incorporated and Wynit. If they do carry televisions, I can not find them. I did find a site from Canada called Electronics For Less that I've tried to get into contact with, but no one has ever gotten back to me.

And thank you very much for that suggestion, I will check it out.

Shane is going to look into those two suppliers to see what's going on there for you John, and she will also chase up Electronics for less and see what's happening with their lack of customers service.

Can I ask did you email them direct, how long ago and how many times?

Okay, thank you very much. I emailed Electronics for less twice last month (June) without any response, and contacted there 'Live Chat' just three days ago with no response. I was on the live chat so long that it booted me off and had me send an email, which I have yet to be replied to.
