I wonder how many online sellers who use PayPal as their means of collecting payments, are aware that , unless you send your goods by trackable means (e.g. recorded delivery) that you are not covered by PayPal's seller protection. It is not good enough to offer recorded delivery or to obtain proof of posting.

I recently had an experience where I posted goods to Australia and obtained proof of posting. When the goods failed to arrive, the buyer filed a PayPal complaint and WON because I could not provide tracking to their door.

I have asked PayPal to confirm whether this applies to any online purchase but have yet to receive a reply. How many times have you made an online or auction purchase without receiving trackable goods-probably only relevant if you dont receive the goods.
What is stop fraudulent PayPal claims by people who have received goods but then tell PayPal they haven't had them?
How many sales have you made and shipped without using trackable means-its quite scary.

Ive sold over 2000 items on my 3 ebay accounts and have only had about 3 sales tracked. Ive never once had a paypal dispute. :D

14 day money back guarantee on all my items usually helps too..

I offer a money back return policy. The buyer just eats the shipping cost both ways. Helps prevent buyers remorse. When I get the goods back I usually return all of there funds in order to get a neutral feedback and sometimes a positive one. I rarely get goods returned and if I do it was usually caused by the shipper. I rarely get tracking numbers unless I ship with ups, fed ex, or dhl. Thats mainly for larger containers. My smaller packages I just ship with the postal service. Sometimes if they pay enough I add in delivery confirmation.

After 4000 transactions i had this problem as a buyer claimed they did not get the product i had my credit card recepit with the buyers info etc and PAYPAL still ruled in their favor - i called PAYPAL and was told just simply pay the 60cents for delivery confirmation and they will almost always rule in the sellers favor as this confirms it was delivered -even if delivered to the incorrect address you will be fine as than the buyer should of requested insurance .
