Hi all,

I just started selling online and am learning and adjusting my selling strategy. One thing that I figured is the furious competition on the price and since I'm in Canada, the shipping cost is a killing factor. It seems to me that it is almost impossible to be competitive because we have no control over the shipping cost. And also the products I sell don't have a market value can is huge enough to include shipping. I'm stuck there...

Do any one of your out there have any insights or tips to share?

TIA.

It seems to me that it's just a case of not being able to compete in the market, so very few options other than looking for markets where there are opportunities better suited.

I'm wondering if you could use Amazon and sell things that are Amazon Prime or free shipping (over 35.00)?
Just an idea. I like Ebay selling, but they insist on using PayPal which holds funds.

My advice would be, although eBay is a paint with PayPal holding funds, it's worth having a presence there. What about selling a small amount, something you can actually cover the cost of yourself, knowing that the funds will be locked up. This way you get started, the customers still get their orders processed and you then just sit out the holding phase.

Once that clears, away you go!

I'm not saying DON'T use Amazon, my theory is the wider online exposure you you have, the more chances you have of making sales. I just think eBay is a platform that can be beneficial to you long term, if not the short term.
