Yes, don't sell fakes or items which are know to be fakes even if they aren't.

Keep you DSRs at or above 4.5 and use a cartmanager.

Start slowly on new accounts and keep a reserve of non-linkable ebay accounts for if you do get suspended.

Deliver what you promise.

Ensure your Paypal account is created correctly and make it a business account.

Use the cartmanager for all sales to a different payment processor, but make sure to get merchant approval before doing so.

You can then use the cartmanager for all payments including Paypal but your buffered. Paypal is much more lenient on non-eBay transactions.

Don't frequently change your info on eBay.

Yes there is a way to avoid it, check the information on this page:

In other words if you use eBay for anything know what you are selling there, make sure its a niche market type product or auction product. Don't bother with big brands there because that place is very unfriendly to anyone who deals in brand merchandise. You want to mind those rules if you ever list something.

This is coming from someone who barely ever uses eBay, I can get all that traffic on my own now anyway though so I've really just backed off it.

Yes bayericlowe,

Its best to not be on eBay if you have the wherewithall mentally(experience).

A lot of people are just starting off and don't have the experience.

eBay is still the most trafficked site for sellers on the internet.

No one comes close except for Amazon but they are still a tougher learning curve to set up and sell than eBay.

There are ways to sell on eBay to insulate yourself and have few problems.

'eBay is still the most trafficked site for sellers'

Not in my experience nowadays. iOffer for instance is #2 behind them, having usually 50,000-80,000 sellers online at any given time worldwide.

Bonanzle.com is now close behind them. And Amazon as well as Merchant Commerce has basically surpassed them.

Know what I always did? I devised my own ways of generating traffic, and it works. It's the same traffic-swarm methods eBay used to try to be the only online marketplace. I flood in to the thousands of buyers through my store so in the longrun it doesn't matter much what service is used. I suggest everyone who has the capabilities, to do the same. eBay is truly becoming a thing of the past even for those new to online business.

If you want instant results, launch your hot products in Google Product Search and link them from your store. Or from Godaddy's Merchant account. It seems to work alot faster. Although I'm talking about niche products, really those are the instant sales.

I'm all for off eBay sales.

From my readings in different forums There are lots of sellers but not a lot of buyers on Ioffer.
I hear mixed reviews from different sellers on Ioffer. Most have a few sales here and there. The problem is lots of fakes mixed in with the good stuff.
Bonzanzle seems to be getting better sales.
The problem is still traffic.
Ebid has the same issues. Millions of items listed but small turn over. Plus, they have a couple of sellers with hundreds of thousands of items listed which pads the numbers.

Amazon has great sales but a steeper curve in becoming a seller. I lucked out a couple of years ago and got a corporate account with them. Had someone from corporate accounts contact me. Still don't know how they got a hold of my info.

I know you have been against eBay for a long time and I credit you for sticking to your guns and finding other venues.

And really, if you have some info that will give some confidence in these other sites I would really like to hear.

The best I have heard about is Bonzanzle. Which you could hook-up to Google.
And people are starting to see some good sales but not eBay numbers.

'And really, if you have some info that will give some confidence in these other sites I would really like to hear.'

Well for one in my experience it isn't very slow like you say whatsoever.

Just this last week, I sold 2-3 items through ioffer.com with no trouble at all and got another 2 interested buyers for various products.

Why would this success come so quickly?

Well, in the end all that matters is your traffic. I had placed high traffic keywords in each of my listings. So then basically, if you want instant results you put in high traffic keywords - upload it to 'Google Product Search' and submit 4 free directories, and then watch as the buyers and sales fire off.

They come in like rapid fire, not just on that but also on Clickbank. A heck of a lot faster than eBay. In fact I've never seen sales so fast. If you want to really trim down your inventory, list it on iOffer and get a front page 'FEATURED' listing. You'll get buyers within a few hours, usually selling out of everything.

In essence your traffic determines your success. I've sold more items actually off ebay now then ON it, by being a member of social networking groups, having an automatic advertising machine, submitting to a very large mailing list & just in general making traffic come to me.

When you get those lessons down, its easy to sell - its easy to sell ANYWHERE. When all you see that eBay used to have an upper hand in is traffic, you can use other means to get that traffic generating for you rather then being sucked out to eBay et. all.

You can try and plead your case but your fighting an uphill battle.

Is it a perm ban or a 90 day. If its a 90 day you have a better chance, if its a perm ban than your looking at a year on that account.

eBay is a still a great place to sell anything online. I've been selling there on and off for 8 years, and in that time I've sold just about everything. At one time I was a Power Seller. I've sold well over 1,000 items and have a lifetime rating of 536 with 100% feedback and a DSR of 4.85. You just have to make sure you give an accurate description of what your selling, take good pictures, send thank you emails to your buyers with shipping dates, and how the items shipped, and always leave positive feedback to people who pay promptly before they receive your item. Also charge reasonable shipping fees and ship fast. It might be a hobby to you, however the buyer just closed a business transaction. I never had a problem with eBay that wasn't resolved. Now PayPal is another story. I also recommend 1 account for selling and 1 account for buying. sjeffreya

'You can try and plead your case but your fighting an uphill battle.'

This. eBay has actually become quite the policing grounds when it comes to anything like large scale transactions.

What I have found, is that now that there are larger alternatives such as Godaddy Marketplace, Big Ticket Depot and also iOffer, it is more counter productive to keep trying to sell on eBay then it is productive.

If you would like to know what I do, just listen up.

I got really sick and tired of dealing with all the time and frustration it takes to get one 'SINGLE' product feed of my shopping cart items listed in a database.

So, I finally bypassed that process altogether and realized what is really going to save time and generate official sales.

First of all, there is no reason to change your products. What you really need to do is get your products in front of all the areas where people shop, that's it. This is the real issue with anything to do with ecommerce, is getting the merchandise out front.

So what I did, is I cut all those frustrations and problems into pieces by getting a direct feed submission program.

No longer do I have to spend hours of tedious work checking line by line, whether my feed is going to be accepted to one of these shopping directories.

All I do is enter products, the product IDs, amount in stock and price to be charged for shipping plus weight. I then simply click and 'create new feed', then with a username and password for FTP access I hit 'upload'.

It instantly uploads my Shopping feed directly into Froogle Product Search, Yahoo Shopping, Bizrate.com, Pricegrabber, Buy.com and the rest where the shoppers are physically located.

Then if you want to wipe out the time it takes for the other tasks, get a Bulk Directory Submission program. With a Bulk Directory Submission program, you simply enter the URL where your store and product feed is located & then let it fly while it submits your URL to over 1000 BULK SHOPPING Directories such as Overstock.

And that, is how to really sell products. Once you get a direct shopping feed submission system down to pat, you can pretty much say goodbye to eBay or what have you forever.

That is where all the big traffic comes from, is right there in the shopping directories.

Also, the freedom you have afterward is what counts. You can use anything from Google Checkout, to Amazon Payments, 1st Data Solutions, and other large Merchant Accounts to take payment for any product from any buyers. Worldwide.

Now that's just common sense. eBay in the end won't allow you to do anything except Paypal, and Propay. With the other offers that are out there, you can accept nearly any payment type you wish.

In the end which is going to be more worth your time? That's the only thing I had to decide.

Who said anything about large scale transactions? I mentioned that I used eBay on and off for the last 8 years for over 1,000 items. That averages out to 125 transactions per year! Some years might have been 250 items and then nothing for half a year. Not quite worth building and maintaining a Website over and paying for a Merchant Account. When I came in I had my own Merchant Account from a store. Later I only accepted Bank Checks, Postal Money Orders, and Personal Checks for items under $50. I never received a bad Check. Then I joined PayPal to attract more customers. Yet I continued to accept Checks. I sold about 20 Mac Power Books between $2,000 - $2,200. Never had a problem. That's when I was a Power Seller. And now you can have a Merchant Account. Not just PayPal or ProPay? No more Bank Checks, Money Orders, or Personal Checks. I was selling digital download eBooks. When eBay put the kabosh on them I didn't whine and cry. I simply put them on CD's and DVD's and made twice the profit, including shipping. I make my money from Websites. The latest I'm building promotes SaleHoo. It is not finished yet, Link hidden: Login to view. But it will come up. Plus in My Profile you can now link to your Websites. I can't wait to promote my Website on it. The bottom line is eBay has been good for my needs. sjeffreya
