I was wondering if liquidating, dropshipping or wholesaling is the best way to start selling online like on ebay, amazon and other websites for Home decor niche. Is it a good niche?

That really is going to depend on how much cash you have to invest, how much space you have, the decor products you want to sell, and what country you are in to be honest.

I dont really have much money to start my online business (about $500 to $600). Thats the reason i was thinking to start with dropshipping and eventually moving to liquidation and wholesaling. I currently live in USA.

1) Can I be successful in running a home decor niche business online. Is it a good idea.

2) Can I buy home decor products from a liquidator to sell online. Any good liquidators? or should i stick with dropshipping for now.

That sort of budget can get you started in liquidations, but it would be a small load, especially looking at the genre you want to deal in.

This is just my own personal opinion, but I believe drop shipping is a desperate option. It's the option that people chase when they either can't afford to spend the time developing a real business, the option they choose when they don't have enough money to buy in bulk and so on!

It's the option that has the potential to cause you more drama simply because you don't have total control over your own business, and it's the option that usually provides you with the least opportunity to make money!

To answer your questions;

1. I see absolutely no reason why you couldn't be successful, but I don't know the market for those products at all well, and therefore couldn't really say whether or not it was a good idea.

That's a question that only you can answer through your own research.

2. Yes you can buy home decor items through some liquidators, those that carry those types of loads.

If you can narrow down for me the type of decor products we are talking about I'll try and suggest an option or two for you. For example.......are we looking at items like cushions and throw rugs or lamps and side tables, etc.

liquidators for bedding, lamps, and rugs.

1) What do you think to buy this products in wholesale or Liquidators are good way to kick start you business.

2) Are there specific webiste whick are good for selling home decor items other than ebay.

3) Should I build my website now or wait to see if I can successfully sell this products on ebay.

1. Liquidations will provide you with better prices that wholesale, but you will be limited to whatever stock is available.

2. I really couldn't give you accurate advice on the best sites to use, I just don't know that market at all, so maybe someone else can throw their two cents worth in there.

3. It really all comes down to marketing. These types of products would work well on your own themed site, but you would have to develop a marketing platform that would drive traffic for you to be successful.

You could start off on a free listing platform like Link hidden: Login to view, then only pay at the time of a sale, but it's really hard to give you a site with the traffic flow that ebay has.

Perhaps you just do some minor test marketing, get yourself a small load of these products through a liquidator, see how they go on ebay to test the water.

Unfortunately there is risk involved, but that's the general nature of business. What you have to do is calculate the risk to determine the viability for yourself.

i would suggest searching through ebay for the things you are intrested in selling. the completed listings search is always really helpful to find out what prices they are selling at, how often they sell or dont sell. once you get an idea what you can sell them for, then you can search through the listings here and see if you can source them low enough to compete on ebay. its not easy and can take a lot of time, but once you find something it'll be worth it.

THIS IS IN NO MEANS A SUGGETION FOR YOU TO STAR OUT IN DROP SHIPPING, BUT IF YOU DO PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND RESEARCH THE DROP SHIPPER CAREFULLY. WHEN I FIRST STARTED ON EBAY I HAD VERRY LITTE START UP MONEY , LESS THAN 100 DOLLARS, I THINK IT WAS. SO LIKE ALOT OF OTHERS DO , I TURNED TO A DROP SHIPPER, AND WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!!FIRST OF ALL ALOT OF NEW SELLERS TURN TO DROP SHIPPING WITH THE NOTION THAT THEY CAN SELL THE ITEM AND GET PAID BEFORE THEY INVEST IN THE ITEM. SO THEY LIST A BUNCH OF ITEMS AND WHEN THE SALES COME IN , BANG!!! PAYPAL FREEZES THE FUNDS. THIS LEAVES THE SELLER WITH THE OPTION OF PAYING FOR THE ITEMS OUT OF POCKET OR REFUNDING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY TO COUNTLESS NEW SELLERS. SO IF YOU DO DECIDE TO START WITH A DROP SHIPPER, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY IN YOUR PAYPAL ACCT. TO COVER ALL THE ITEMS LISTED PLUS SHIPPING. SUNRISE WHOLESALE , IS A REALLY GOOD DROP SHIPPER FOR HOME DECOR.

Sunrise wholesale looks like an SMC reseller to me, not a real wholesaler.

Searching through the completed listings on Ebay is great advice.

I would say, buy as much as you can afford, take it to your local flea market where you can rent a spot for $20-$30 and see how fast you can turn it over.

Yes you are right about the smc reseller thing, but the prices are only about a dollar difference and they offer free membership. smc dose not.
