Hello,

I'm already a power seller on eBay but I getting fed up with the fees especially since my traffic level decreased since January. Im looking for a alternative please give me tips how to start my own store.

Is ebay ProStores affiliated the same way with the 12% fees?
What are your fees on having a store please if anyone has done this before please help me out I already got a lot of connections with good suppliers just looking into doing faster distribution

I am not sure about the fees for prostore but I receive an email from eBay stating that if you're a Gold Powerseller, your monthly fees for prostore will be waived which is $249.95 monthly.

I am thinking of getting a prostore because I have a Gold Powerseller account and see how that goes. I do want to ask members though for any input regarding this question also (regarding fees).

Im not gold but Im just level 1 Bronze Powerseller but my sales are down to about 700-900 a month which is below so eBay can take away my powerseller status in 3 months if I dont step it up. Hopefully we can get some answers from somebody here Jimmy any details on this plz

Not much I can do about ebay, but anyone who isn't using bonanzle.com with their free listings, friendly and helpful community, and increasing traffic, may be missing the boat.

Check out JG's offer at PSU, also free shop layouts at the moment, at least for a couple of months while the site is in beta testing.

If you want a custom option developed, Singapore will be your man.

Anybody on the forum had any luck on bonanzle.com? I may import some of my listings over there and see if I get any sales but as far as ebay, my sales are down the last week of February. I did over $11K last february so I still kept my gold powerseller status. Hopefully this march picks up again.

GR can I see a link to your store 11k in sales is very good, I checked out Bonanzle it looks very nice design but it looks like its barely in the growing stage hopefully it becomes something huge. I talked to a guy about prostore he said that for me it will be 50 bucks per month for store fee and .05% of every item sales price. I think it sounds very good I pay right now a average of 200 bucks per month for my store. What would be the cheapest way to advertise your personal store?

As far as Bonanzle goes, still very early in its evolution. I've spoken to some over there that are happy with the sales, although they are mostly small time sellers.

Believe it or not, there are some people that just do not want to shop on ebay, and no one has ever lost business by adopting an effective market coverage strategy.

Ebay remains the biggest traffic site, but as the saying goes, the smallest fish in the sea are often the sweetest ones. Sites like Bonanzle, with their focus on community, along with providing an excellent selling platform will grow into the future, absolutely no doubt about it.

Will it ever be as big as ebay, who knows, but if it's a free option, then who really cares at the moment. If you can increase your market exposure for free, then what exactly is there to loose?

Come on people, it's a big world out there, and not everyone is looking on ebay, start expending your marketing of you want to maximize your sales!

I have been an eBay Powerseller for about 2 years and I have recently just quit and decided that eBay will no longer get anymore of my money. Ebay has treated it's sellers like crap since Meg Whitman left the company and I just refuse to continue to support them. If it means me loosing sales then so be it. I am trying out new sites like Bonanzle and will start working on a store soon. Why are you going to start a eBay pro store and give them even more of your money?? There are many free shopping carts out there that can be installed and you get to keep 100% of the profits!

Hi stop by psushop.com it is not an auction you will have your own market place-shop. The way we are planning on running this operation is their will never be any per product fees final value fees or anything like that each member will simply rent a booth for 10 bucks a month.

However as fudjj said it is free right now and we are getting tons
of traffic I think we picked a great name because the university penn
state actually goes by psu so we some how got listed in with their college and that has given us a great advantage as far as buyers go.
Thanks

I did have an experience with prostores , And their customer service is terrible!!(their customer support never have a solution for your problem), their servers are always down, and once you start selling there fees are going to kill you , even if you think 2% is nothing ...

I was using Prostores and I moved to Volusion which is awesome !

The only good thing about Prostores is their forum, but volusion has a forum too .

Trust me you will love volusion .....

Just my opinion ...

Good Luck

It is going to depend on what you sell and how long you have had your Ebay store , I have been going full time for 3 years and get too many repeat customers and referals .. My items are deadstock /rare items so I have people checking me out every week .I think you can supplement your income from another site but if you are selling well now it will be real difficult to duplicate the traffic at any other site except Amazon....The way i look at ebay is if i had a actual Store with montly rent - electric- insurance - advertising cost- etc it would be just as expensive or more .. and advertising would be locally not all around the world ...Ebay and paypal run me less tha 20% of my gross and i would have to pay to accept credit card with a store as well ..

Hey everybody,

Ok I am sorry if this has already been answered but I am going to the next stage in my online business. I see from these posts that there are much negative opinions on ebay and their fees. You see all of these long time ebay sellers like 3ballsgolf and these sellers that have made the news about making their first 6 figure income running an online ebay store. My question is opening an EBAY store still have the potential to make a success? is there anybody out there that is satisfied and running a successful ebay store? I am very much considering opening an ebay store but before I take the chance and start having a 15.99 fee every month come out of my income I want to make sure that it still has it's pros. Right now I do not have a niche market that I am in, but I am selling liquidated items so the supply is not necessarily the issue its more of exposure and the reduced listing fees that ebay offers with the store. Thanks guys!

Don

Well for my 2 cents worth, I think a presence on ebay is still relevant for anyone interested in developing an online business in retail.

One of my best friends has a store there, sells mostly clothing and turns a couple of hundred a week with minimum effort.

Lots to dislike about ebay, but it still has the most traffic, and a high traffic environment can only increase your chances of a sale!

We are currently assessing whether or not to go forward in developing our own site or in fact take out an ebay store for our liquidated loads.

Having said that, I'm a firm believer that cross marketing gives yourself the best opportunity for sales, so if it isn't costing anything to list somewhere, then I believe that not to be there as well is a mistake!

Good advice thanks Marc! Yeah I have been doing well so far and I just notice that now Im listing lots of products and just see it more of an advantage to just open up a store and list the items at .5 cents instead of .35 cents a listing. Hey while I have you on this subject. Can or do you have any other Designer belt accessories like belt buckles only or how about Men's belts? Im doing very well so far with my recent purchase from you and I am almost ready to make my next purchase. To be more broad, anything related to belts and belt buckles would be great! .

Thanks Marc,

Don

Hi don, great news about the belts mate, really glad they are moving well for you. I did think they would make an excellent stock stuffer, but it sounds like I actually underestimated just how strong the sales would be on them myself.

We are on the lookout for buckles at the moment, had a few inquires about them, but have not found anything that we would be happy offering as yet.

Only other load we have in relation to belts is the other belt load. Pretty sure you took the $2.00 belt option, but we have the $3.00 belt lot as well. Same stock, belts in this lot just have a higher average retail value.

I'll definitely keep my eye out and give you as shout so you don't miss out if anything else turns up mate.

Cheers

Well guys I actually tried Prostores and personally it sucked it was actually more complicated well to me it was I have to personal experience building a page heck even my myspace page is simple lol well I personally dont recommend it but my sales are actually improving again I went thru a rough time with about 3-8 items a week :(

Oh I realized that on ebay you dont really have to have the cheapest price to compete as long as they are similar you can do just as well the key point is to have MORE items if you give your customers more items to choose from and combine shipping you wont believe how much traffic grows I noticed that when I added the Nintendo Skins to my store good luck to everyone trying to make it
