Hi,

Just wondering what sort of gross profit margin people are making selling on eBay.

I've only just started. Some things I sell I get 25% and some as high as 50%. How does this compare to everyone else?

Are they high dollar items you're all selling or low dollar items.

Cheers!

That seems pretty good for eBay USA. Obviously depending on your stock turn around, but if you can consistently get 50% margins esp on high value items you should be doing pretty well for yourself :)

I sell primarily small value items. I usually double my investment every time. Some times I make more.

When my main market was hot, I was making 300% returns on my investment, but I made a post at one point in time about my product. In about 3 weeks, I had some competition. I have the lowest dollar that you can buy my product from here in the USA, however the competition is so stiff now that the little profit made is almost not worth it. I am currently under negotiations with my supplier for a more dominating position.

:D I'm buying red monkeys for $37 each and selling for $100, so I think I'm doing ok so far. I have only sold 3 pairs. I am ordering only 2 to 4 items of each to see what the quiality is before I go whole hog, and start ordering larger quanties, even then I think it's better to keep orders small so customs won't get too interested in what I'm buying. The turn around was 2 weeks from the time I wired the money till they were delivered. Turn around may be shorter, now that the supplier knows me. I think I will try Bape Hoodies next. I should be able to get them for $60 and sell for $125.
Hope my luck holds out.

Which is the best : dropship or wholesale to make margin?

I think wholesale because you have the actual product and I wouldn't really trust drop shipping, not only because I've been there but because you just really can't trust anyone when it comes to money. For example if a company or individual is drop shipping high valued and in demand items for you such as the PS3, and someone comes along and makes them an offer they can't turn down you might be at loss with your customer's goods. Wholesale, you get the best price, and have the security of feeling assured that you have products to sell that are tangible, not handled by a 3rd party.

You have a lot more profit potential going wholesale. Dropshippers have to make their profit, so your going to lose some of yours going with them. I've also gotten negative feedback on ebay because my dropshipper took to long to ship. When purchasing in wholesale you just need to make sure you can sell them at a higher price. I started purchasing wholesale using my rewards credit card. By the time I get the bill I've already sold all my products and made my profit, not to mention I'm getting free flier miles every time I make an order  .
