They're a well-established small finance company. PayPal recently bought them and they've integrated with eBay sellers (not sure what the qualifications are to get approved though; all my stuff is such low-ticket it's hard to imagine anybody looking for financing on it.)

As far as reputation and service level goes, as far as I'm aware they're top notch, or to put that in perspective as top notch as whatever your opinion of eBay and PayPal is. ;)

I don't have any personal experience with emerchant, but in regards to billmelater. Looks like you need to establish an account before you can email them as it is a secure login to do so.

You can call them on 1-866-528-3733

Hi Alexyes,

Sorry but I was not able to find any Link hidden: Login to view other than those found on their site.

They are relatively new though, a little over a year old.

All the best!

Hi Alexyes,

You can check how old a site is by running a whois search - Link hidden: Login to view

Hope this helps!

Thanks for pointing that out Alexyes. I apologize for giving your the wrong information in my previous post.

You're right the site was created last 1998 which means that they have been online for over 13 years which makes them seem every more credible and worth checking out, if you are seeking a company to provide you with merchant services.

Again my apologies. All the best!

Hi Alexyes,

For me best is subjective, since what may work for me may not work for you :)

You can actually search fro reviews online such as these to help you determine which one will work best with you and your business -

Just a nit, but you can't always go by domain age as a guide for how long a company has been in business. eMerchant's about page says they've been in business since 2002; old copies of the site from Archive.org show that it used to be a different kind of operation -- so at some point eMerchant acquired the domain name and started using it. 2002 is a long time in internet years -- just pointing out that simply running a whois will not always serve you well in trying to perform due diligence. I own many dormant domains that have been continually registered for eight, nine, ten year or more -- any site put on them might -appear- to a casual searcher to have been online since then.

Sometimes you can't do much more than trust them, but some places to check include the WHOIS of course, the web archive at Archive.org, the BBB if they're in the US. Sometimes you can get results looking in business directories online, or Googling for news stories related to the company etc. but that is a hit-and-miss effort.

Sure, there are tons of companies either not registered with the BBB, or who don't pay much attention to their record. I mention it simply as a potential source of some feedback. RipOffReport.com can provide information too, but of course it's plagued by false or out of date reports. What I mean is, use various sources, from the WHOIS record to other sites mentioned, to try to create a thumbnail of a company with whom you're considering doing business.

Not really ... just trial-and-error over the years has led me to use some sources for basic info, and to pay close attention to what people are saying about the company at forums.
