PayPal have to be the most unethical corportate monstere on the net.
Along with Ebay their merchandising arm they absolutely walk over the smaller companies.

I started drop shipping and had 6 clients that paid via PP. The money was in the account, I sent the goods.
A day or two later the account was frozen and payment reversed to a scam artist that claimed false ID used on Ebay.
No checks were made by PP they just reversed the payment after I had the sent the goods.
I could get no expalnation from PP just Auto responders. I attempted to ring their Call center which is in New Deli.
The so called customer service rep was an absolute moron whe did not give any assistance except to tell me to fill in antoher online form.
In the meantime all the genuine customers had their monies frozen too so the ones that were still waiting could not get their goods.
PP then had the hide to tell me the account was negative balance over $600
If you deal with PayPal in any substantial amounts I would advise you to beware because the minute anything goes wrong with them they will act as THE MONEY GOBBLING CORPORATE MONSTERS THAT THEY ARE.

One reason ebayers should avoid dropshipping. Too much risk involved if your selling items you cannot pay for yourself. This is a risky business and you can loose alot.

You should analize all the information you can on your buyer. In certain cases I have refused to ship items to unverified bidders even after they have paid me.

The highest refunder dollar amount I have refused was on a toughbook laptop I sold for $2,600. I paid $900 for it at a state auction. So it was a high profit sale. But The buyer which had 37 feedback couldnt verify his address. I told him to send me a US postal money order for the payment and He claimed to be too busy to do it. So I refunded the money and sold the laptop to a friend for $1,200 cause his daughter needed a nice laptop for school..Today hes still paying me $100 a month for that laptop. BTW i never recieved any feedback from that buyer. Or contact. I could have profited big if I could verify his info but since he was unverified I refused the deal.

You decide what risks you want to take, then go from there.

I have had some bad experiences with paypal..

I sell adult products, and it is against their policy to accept payment for such products.

When they found out, the terminated my account, held my money, and sent me a check for the balance of my account 6 months later.

I would advise anyone selling adult products to not accept paypal as a form of payment.

I still get people that want to pay with paypal, even after I explain the reason why I can't.
The tell me that paypal will not know what I am buying. This is a risk I can't take since I had to ask my brother to open a paypal account and let me use it. If I mess this one up, I will not be able to accept or make purchases for the non adult items...

Just my experience....

You are correct it is listed in the paypal terms of use agreement.
You might be able to use bidpay for adult sales.

I just couldnt resist my two cents worth. Paypal suck as far as I am concerned. I had my account hacked by a third party ( secure... yeh right ) and becuase I had no money in my bank account at the time I got charged a $45 over draw fee from my bank. I rang paypal numerous times and told them I wanted them to compensate me for the $45 ( not fair I should pay it ) You know what they told me.. I should have had money in my bank account... Sorry didnt reliase I was supposed to keep funds handy for potential hackers. I ended up contacting my local ombudsman ( spelt wrong im sure) and went the legal route. They in the end sent me an email saying in this uniuqe circumstance they will pay the $45 ... 6mths later IM STILL WAITING. the only reason I havnt contacted them again was I finally convinced my bank to reverse the fee. In the mean time paypal wanted a photocopy of my licence to re-establish my account... YEH RIGHT I will just give you more ID make it a bit easier for them to do me over...
The staff are rude and arrogant and dont know bugger all about their profession. They must pay peanuts cause there all monkeys. The only reason they even budged was legal action.
THEY SUCK I cant beleive a company with such a huge financial responsibility are allowed to be so unprofesional. Makes me wonder how they sleep at night.

If I recall correctly I think paypal is actually run by JP morgan Chase.
I've had problems with paypal before but they have always resolved them on my behalf

I've had some small issues but I still use them because it gets more bid on your items if you accept PayPal.

I bought a book from someone on eBay, never got sent, just after I paid for it, many people starting giving the seller negative feedback so obviously he started taking everyone's money then delete his account and run.

PayPal granted my claim but never returned the funds because the seller has no money in their account. I told them that some place charged me a subscription instead of a one-time fee that I told them it was. They took the $93 AUD from my bank account, so I got my bank to step in and recover the money. After my bank got the cash back for me, PayPal put my account in negative $93 AUD balance.

I also rang up their call centre and they have the worst service. No help at all and barely gives me someone who I can understand.

It's funny how they can't put the other sellers account into a negative balance just to pay back the $20 or so I got ripped off on but they can put mine in negative $93, unfair.

Yeah they usually have somene with an indian accent answering the phone. I think is someone they recently hired from the local 7 eleven cause you can hardly understand them and its almost like they can hardly understand english too lol

But i didn't send the products knowing that this happens with PayPal allot.

I remember about 2 years ago I had success selling these Andy Warhol Campbell's Tomato Soup cans.

I was buying the 4 packs for $2.00 and selling them for $50.00.

I had an eBay buyer want to buy 6 four packs from me. I cut them a $50 break and charged $250.

I carefully packed everything up, shipped them, and made sure the I had a tracking number.

Next thing you know, I get an email from the buyer saying the cans were completely destroyed. I tried to work with the buyer, but they wanted a full refund. I reminded them that they had declined the optional insurance and that I stated in the auction my return policy.

All of a sudden I have a negative feedback and a claim with PayPal.

I too had a problem getting anywhere with them. No one gives you their last name. They are always Tom J. or Kelly M. It is nearly impossible to keep an acurate track of who you talk to.

I provided them proof of everything. I included emails between the buyer and I, tracking number, etc.

They finally revearsed the payment based on the fact that in the auction I didn't state I was selling damaged cans. The buyers claim was I had sold them something other than what the auction was for.

At this point I waged a personal war with PayPal. I ended up all the way up the ladder to the 'Escalation' department.

They had told me that the buyer had proof that I sent damaged cans instead of good cans. I asked them to provide me this proof and they said they could only do this if with a court order.

After I made my case over the phone with a real live person, they gave me suggestions on how I could get my money back by suing the buyer or buy filing fraud with my local police department.

They basically said that just in case they made a mistake that here are the ways I can continue and they were done with it.

The only thing they did do was force the buyer to send them back to me before they would refund the money. The buyer shipped them in the same exact box I shipped to them. The box was in great condition which again led me to question how these things could get that damaged.

Even after all that, I still ue PayPal. When it comes down to it I just think they are easier. I have the PayPal debit card so I don't have to wait for a check or the funds to transfer to my account.

Here are some tips to deal with PayPal.
1) ALWAYS GET DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. If you do not have a tracking number, all it takes is for a dishonest buyer to file a claim saying they did not get their goods. If you do not have a tracking number then PayPal automatically revearses the funds. This has happened to me too. It only costs $0.55 to add the delivery confirmation through USPS. Just include it with the shipping costs.

2) SHIP WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE TRANSACTION AND HAVE PROOF. Again, if someone claims they did not receive the item and you have no proof you shipped within 7 days of the transaction date, they will revearse the funds.

3) On higher priced goods, make insurance mandatory. In this case if something is damaged, they have to go through the carrier and file a claim.

Even though I have had problems in the past with PayPal, I still use them. I just make sure I cover my tracks.

To sum things up: PayPal = Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

one word of caution for paypal...

never, ever, under any circumstance, send an item to an address other than the one in paypal.

if you do, the proof you have for shipping is useless, bc they will only accept ship confirmation to the exact paypal address. they will reverse the funds, and give them back to the buyer. even if you DID ship the merchandise, and the customer has it!!!

many scammers will email and say, can you send ithe item to this other address instead? Or, another method of pulling off the above scam is to have a different address in ebay than in paypal. they pay you with paypal , which has an entirely diff name/address, but they indicate the ebay item number in the payment notes. so you think, ok, i got paid. you mark the ebay item as paid. then, you cant create the label in paypal, bc you manually marked the item as paid, so you create the label from ebay. however, the ebay address/name are tottally different from that in paypal, and now your screwed and dont even realize it.

scammers are very smart and will stop at nothing to get something for free, at your expense.

paypal has its rules, and no matter what proof you have, or how upset you get, if you dont follow them, you will lose.

(hope the above makes sense, sometimes explaining scams is convoluted and complicated unless you think like a scammer, which i dont :) )

Yeah,I too have had a number of incidents with Paypal and somehow,whether I was buying or selling I came out on the short end.
1)NEVER ship to an uncofirmed address.It voids your seller protection (which I think only covers up to $5000 per year).
2)Paypal will freeze the funds in question and tell you about it later whether the claim is legit or not.
3)I would recommend getting a small credit card or getting a totally seperate bank account for funding your Paypal account if you even feel like still doing business with them.That way ,if they decide to have a problem and reach into your account on file,you are not finacially crippled by it.

I'm switching over to GooglePay as soon as it comes out, period and encouraging everyone to force eBay to switch over as well.

There are so many sickening scams nowadays its time for a change, and Paypal does more to encourage scams and theft than actually discourage it.

GooglePay will make them a sad memory because of its far superior security and customer service, so will BidPay.

On a previous post here you mention to always use DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - well im in canada and Paypal has reversed my transactions several times. You see they intregrated Delivery confirmation with canada post only a few months ago...but it doesnt work!

I can print as many as l like but there is no data recorded what so ever..i even checked ones that have recieved thier order..and left positive , when i check the delivery confirmation it just shows the date i printted the label...even thought they told me it already arrived..is that fair?

no, the money will not go in your acct...they will take it out!

On another occassion i have transerred $300 From paypal into bank acct..it takes 4-5 days for this to be complete. A buyer claim went throught during this time frame and paypal cancelled my transfer 3 days into the process....so i had to do the transfer over..so it took 8 biz days to get my money.. they will find anyway to money from you..there is NO way out.. ive been dealing with paypal for 7 years, they have taken huyndreds of dollars from me..

I've had a huge issue with Paypal recently where my account has been limited because they suspect trademark violations and also non-authentic items. When I tried to submit proof of invoices to PP, they were not very helpful over the phone, saying I should email Trust and Safety. I emailed Trust and Safety and no further reply. The last I got was a warning from PP that my balance is negative at the moment and there are dispute resolutions waiting to be resolved.

Tried to refund some of my buyers but with the neg balance, am not able to do so. So I've emailed those that placed a dispute to say I can bank transfer them. A good idea?? Not sure what else to do.

Anyone else has a Paypal account that's limited and neg balance? I've contacted PP but they were not very helpful and they said the a/c will prob close which doesn't give me much confidence in them at all.

The only thing is that so many websites are actually using PP and pple trust it more than other payment sites.

Please help with regards to the above... thanks guys!
