be aware of this person on ebay i have bought an item from this person for around $500.00 and all was good with it untill the damn(camera)packed it in on me and it want focus but guess what i had it for 13 months hardly used warrenty perod was 12 months so i sent it back to the seller to get repaired and natrally i asked for warrenty and he utaly refused to except it under warrenty because it fell outside the 12 months.anyway i asked him to fix it up and i will pay for it so he had sent it away to his repair shop and started to repair it,i got this email back say to fix it they were going to use 2nd hand parts in it and i said no way but unto me knowing they carnt seam to fix the problem with it they have never came across with this type of error befor so now he is sending it back to me unrepaired and i am out of pocket $500.00 and with no camera i tried to make a deal with him to pay for the camera that had this misterous fault but he refused to do so i have reported this to econsumer because the seller was saying i was hard to deal with and very impatent this is after 4-5 weeks he has had the camera.

What did you expect? You sent the camera back after the warranty period. Your seller is not obligated to help you at all. Why didn't you try to get it repaired locally? I would laugh hysterically at any buyer who tried to return a product after 12 months. Come on!

Yeah, as frustrating as it definitely would be for you, I can't see where the seller has done anything wrong here, in fact it does look like he has tried to be helpful in arranging for the repairs for you at the expense of his time.

That sounds like pretty good after market service to me, and after that he didn't have to inform you regarding using second hand parts, although I must confess that I don't understand that at all. If the camera was new, well 13 months old, and they could find second hand parts, why couldn't they find new parts...that sounds bizarre!

Anyway, the point was he did ask you regarding the second hand parts and you said no. I'm not sure what else he could have done at that point, but return it to you....most likely also paying the shipping to his repairer and then returning it back to you.

So he has invested his time and some money in trying to resolve an issue for you when he could have just turned his head and walked away.

I'm getting the feeling that you are writing out of complete frustration, however I think after you settle down and gain some perspective, you may well see the situation differently.

Yes, that is true. Based on the warranty, your seller is not in anyway obliged to repair your camera. Even if you say you hardly used the 12 month warranty.

You could try reaching your camera's brand name authorized repair center, maybe you have one near you. Authorized repair centers would usually have brand new parts and technical knowledge needed to fix the problem specially since it is their brand. Provided they are able to fix your camera, they would normally return this back to you with a repair warranty.

What's your camera's brand name/manufacturer? Maybe we can help you track down a local authorized repair center.

Cheers :)

i have allready tried that and it is a fuji.Fuji recons that if i dont have the original receipt from fuji the dont want to now about it,well guess what i contacted the seller to get the original receipt from the seller and he wont ablidge to this request, I HAVE THE ORIGINAL EBAY RECEIPT FROM THE SELLER but that isnt affical enough for fuji, thay dont use ebay receipts as for warrenty and yea fudjj, that is a fair enough comment, but you would expect a $500-$600 camera to last more than 13 months,so what naronson is saying is that i have to buy a s8000 fuji camera every 13 months because they have a fault with them, that a camera repair carnt fix, and i am expected to pay another $600.00,and i have paid the freight to them not the seller it is all at my cost at the moment for what,if i had bought the camera locally i bet the seller would have tried to put it through as warrenty because they have a heart and can see that it is just out of warrenty buy 1 month,if all the cameras did this what a gold mine the seller is sitting on,now that i have put it like that dose anyone no a good wholesaler for fuji cameras i just might go into competition.thanks for all comments.

I don't know cossie, but judging from your experiences with Fuji cameras I think I might be staying away from them all together, as you say, stuffed in 13 months with very little use is not a good recommendation for the brand.

Maybe that's you free ticket here, companies like Fuji don't like bad publicity, and you would be surprised the attention you might get from Fuji if you made contact with a manager of sorts, and started dropping some hints like a media story about your Fuji experience may well make it into the papers or even TV.

You may well end up with a new one in the mail in no time, can't hurt to try!
