I am looking to put together an online store... I only want to deal with items that are sold under strict MAP policys. I am looking for retail price points of $200-$700+/-. I am not as concerned about competition because of MAP. However, I want items that are more generic then brand names. I could never compete with apple products but I could compete on a $400.00 chandelier... My target marked is US making $100,000 per year... I hope this isn't to general any suggestions on products and suppliers would be helpful....

Hi nyjayla,

Sorry but it is quite difficult to search for items based on pricing, since the prices and the MAP policy itself can only be confirmed directly with the supplier. If you can decide on a product we can help suggest or search for suppliers.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Hi Irene,

Thanks for the reply! Do you know of a resource that list suppliers/manufacturers that employ MAP? I only want to deal in markets that are protected by MAP.

Hi nyjayla,

Sorry but I am not aware of any list for suppliers defined as requiring MRP. I am sure there are some SaleHoo listed suppliers who employ this, it's just that they do not have this stated in their profile pages. And it is not feasible to check on all 8,000 suppliers listed for this. You may choose to decide on a product, look at a specific category, choose specific suppliers, and we can help you get in touch with them to confirm.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Again Irene,

Thank you so much for your response even though it was not at all what I wanted to hear... lol I suspect what I am looking for does exist, at least to some extent somewhere. I will just need to keep looking.

I am going to check your data base for knives. Particularly, I am looking at higher end knif sets and will be looking for suppliers or manufacturer that employ MAP...

Thanks for all your efforts though, I appreciate it!

If I might make a suggestion: Just look one good brand at a time, rather than looking for wholesalers. Most brand companies will be happy to tell you what the process is for becoming an authorised seller. Once you find one that meets your qualifications (and you meet theirs) talk with your rep about complimenting products that also have MAPs. Many account reps will have experience attending trade shows, and have a decent Rolodex of contacts in the business. Develop a good relationship with one, and then leverage it out to others in the business. This is a better way to look for suppliers, when you're looking to retail (online or off) higher-line stuff to affluent markets.
