I think I found a great niche to sell in, the problem is I can't find a supplier. I never heard of "Skylander" products, but the last video/computer game I ever played was Pac-Man (LOL), so what do I know. Any insights into this gaming market and available suppliers would be appreciated.

Hi nyjayla,

Welcome to SaleHoo! Sorry but the Skylanders items are released only through their licensed distributors. This video game and toy brand was published by Activision and developed by Toys for Bob. You will see Activision at Amazon, and also at BestBuy, GameStop, WalMart, Target, Gamestop and ToysRUs. You will need to have a purchasing capacity as huge as these retailers if you plan to apply as a distributor. They are also available at other countries Link hidden: Login to view

Hope this helps. We have several suppliers for other games though, let me know if you need help with this.

That is very interesting, either quit a few people have an inside track to Activision products or the EBay and Amazon folks selling these items are buying directly from retailers and marking up the retail price. The pricing on both EBay and Amazon seems to be substantially higher then the retail price. Also, the sell through rate shown on our "Research Lab" seems extremely healthy.

I would love to here your insights on what you think is going on here? I would also like to here thoughts from anyone else....

Another thought: Is anyone aware of liquidation centers for Amazon, BestBuy, GameStop, WalMart, Target, or ToysRUs.

Most liquidators are prohibited from directly advertising from whom they are getting their supplies (hence you see things on sites like "Major Department Store #2" and "Online Retailer #4" etc.)

If the game is selling for more than retail on eBay and Amazon, that is usually indicative of a short supply of the game and is a temporary situation -- I'd avoid such situations personally, because the higher the price goes the more people are flooding in, and the short supply is usually fixed well before the online sellers figure out/accept this and lower their prices. It's a very easy way to get burned out of some cash, to try to chase them. You see this a lot on Amazon with certain toys, where sellers are simply buying them at the local Target and then selling them for well over retail online. It's a money trap that is far too easy to get caught in.

I don't know for sure, but Link hidden: Login to view might have ActiVision titles. They are one of if not the biggest wholesaler of video games, consoles and media in the world, so if they don't have AV then you'll need to contact AV directly.

Thanks for that Frank. I did check with Ingram and as expected they don't carry the Skylanders products, but they appear to be a great company to work with.
