Hi guys! I was just after some advice pls. I am considering setting up selling items online by importing and exporting (at a profit i hope). I am currently an employee for arguably the worlds biggest courier (think king of queens) and we get excellent employee rates on shipping and was really after advice on what would be good items, we can send anything up to 70kg so the heavier the better as i was hoping to make a profit on shipping too any help or ideas would be a great help.

Hi nigelharnell_123,

Finding something to sell is difficult because it involves spending a lot of time doing research, experimenting with different products, looking out for special deals from suppliers, and who knows what else. You also need to know your market well. Focusing on a market not only allows you to make more astute decisions about what to sell, it also means that you get yourself a scalable business. Meaning, there will be other related items that a particular market wants, and finding that will give your business maximum competitive advantage.

Still, you'll find our blog very useful for getting ideas on what to sell. Check out:

Also, here are some products we have found to have good profit margins:

- Clothing
- Skin care (e.g. anti-ageing & acne treatment)
- Vacation-related items (swimsuits, crocs, sunblock)
- Homewares (towels, sheets)
- Accessories for electronics
- Crafts & hobby items
- Sporting goods
- Computers & computer parts
- Auto & motorbike
- Unique items/collectibles

It is always most profitable to come up with your own niche market. But I'm sure our other members have a lot of ideas on this subject. Anyone?
