I'm having a lot of trouble with online payments. My merchant account is still in the process to set up. Is there any other payment options besides paypal, bidpay, merchantinc that is useable for eBay?

Does anyone know if these 3rd party credit card services pull your personal credit profile at risk of review?

Bidpay is another I know of but it's a pain in the rear as they are very quick to cancel a transaction if they think there may be an issue with it. As far as others that are reliable I'm not sure.

Hi, I personally dropped using payment services and signed up for a free merchant account using Link hidden: Login to view so I'm uncertain as to why you're waiting for setup as it only takes around 24 hours to be setup.

Almost losing a small fortune to paypal and having issues with bidpay I needed a reliable alternative.

Setting up a real merchant account has been great and the fees are much lower than money handling services like paypal and bidpay. All the money goes right into our checking account within a few days.

It does take a day or two to get the merchant account setup but you can take Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diners club cards. 5 Cards Versus the 2 you can take with the other services. This also increases your chances of sales.

You also get access to a free shopping cart you can link to your auctions. All the bidder has to do is enter their email address in the link you provide on the auction page and all of their winning bids come up in a shopping cart page where they can arrange payment.

If you ship using FedEx like me you can use a program called ship rush to automate your shipping so you can handle shipping quickly. And this program is free for FedEx users.

There are many things you can do as far as payment options to your bidders. You don't have to rely just on bidpay or paypal.

If you intend to do a lot of sales like 50 to 100 per month then it's best to use a real merchant account.

I'm pretty sure BidPay is not accepting any new customers according to their website. I'm not sure how this will affect existing ones.

Even existing customers will not be able to accept payments according to bidpay. All you can do is just look at your previous transactions and that's about it. They have totaly discontinued their service since December 31st.

Google checkout transfers your money
to your account within (5) days...I use them
and they are great....Got scammed by a
seller of iPhones and google got me a refund.

So I'm very happy with them.

Thanks Jimmy,

There are always work around for eBay policies...
you could use eBay classifieds to list an item send buyers to your website, to an opt-in list or sales page where the Google Checkout is...

Yes I have currently done over 1100 transactions using Merchantinc over paypal. I personally do not trust paypal with a dime of my money after the incident I had with them in september trying to freeze and steal 23k in money I had in my account. The merchant account is a little more involved in setting up then a paypal account but the extra work is worth the security of controlling every transaction.

I recently had a incident with a NIntendo Wii I sold. The buyer begged me for express shipping. I told him the Price and he agreed. I sent him a invoice and immediately shipped the item. Even after confermation of the delivery and 2 weeks later that bidder did not pay the additional 105 for the shipping.

With paypal I would have no control of that situation. I would have taken a 105 loss for my act of kindness and shipping the unit immediately.

With my own merchant account I manually charged his credit card for the payment. I had full control of that transaction from day 1.

You cant get that with PAYPAL.

I would be good if they offered this to the UK!

looking at their application form, it appears it's only for US residents!

I sent an email asking if they accept international sellers. I also think it is an American only company, but I will wait for an answer from them.

I received a reply stating that they can only accept US customers. However, they said I qualify for their 'international special offer'. The webpage they gave me leads to Link hidden: Login to view I have heard about this company and have actually used it when I bought an item from ebay. Seems ok, but there is a $49 sign up fee.

With all the new changes and the retarded 21 day BS that paypal is pulling on sellers Everyone should switch to A Merchant account. You will save a ton of money in the long run and will NEVER and I MEAN NEVER worry about your money being HELD AGAINST YOUR WILL..

Is Google Checkout or Moneybookers the same as Paypal where they can control your money? And I thought ebay doesn't allow Google Checkout to be used as a form of payment through their site?

service? Thanks so much!

No but you will need to supply a website address if you intend to use American Express services. I actually have a www address that leads directly to my ebay store. It was enough to qualify for american express and only cost me 10 bucks to get.

Ebay will not allow google checkout to be used. However the shopping cart that merchantinc uses you can add a paypal address and a google checkout link in all of your payment forms. Ebay cannot stop you from offering this as a payment method in your own merchant account. They can only control their own site not your merchant services.

Thanks Jimmy for the reply! =) So American Express is the only service that needs a web address right? and the others like visa, mastercard and discover doesn't need one right? One salehoo member cancelled her account with merchantinc because she said it's too complicated. What's your thought on this jimmy? Is it really hard to set it up? I am really looking forward to using their service as paypal is worrying me about the recent policy changes. Thanks in advance! =)

Basically I would say if you had to cancell your account because its too complicated then you probably dont belong in online sales or even a business of your own. Every retailer From Wal Mart down to piggly wiggly has a merchant account with first data. If you have any problems then you should read. These sites have clear info listed on thier emails and thier links to thier own setup guides. It took me 24 hours to get completely setup. If you have any trouble then you need to call them. And ask for help.

Yes it will take a few hours of your precious time to set this up. But I think a few hours of my time is better then letting a MIDDLE MAN (Paypal) Make it easier on me and at the same time making my wallet alot lighter.

Most dont seem to realize that paypal uses the exact same company to do all of your transactions. They get a 1.5 % rate then charge you as much as 3.4% and an additional 35 cents per transaction. If you do alot of transactions like I do then you will know that that will add up to thousands of dollars within a month or two.

Take the time. Read the info and if you dont know then call and ask. They will help you. A few hours to save thousands of dollars each year is worth it.

I agree LOL! Thanks for the info =) I am really looking forward to signing up with them because I don't want paypal to have control over my funds. I am a gold powerseller and with the recent policy changes that ebay and paypal announced, I rather switch to a more reliable and secure payment than wait for that moment where paypal freezes your account for some stupid reason. Saves a lot of headaches this way =) Thanks again jimmy!

Jimmy,

How do you set up your ebay account to accept credit cards?
and stop taking paypal....With all that things that ebay & paypal are doing...Anybody on ebay is going to be in trouble. Their is talk about
a boycott not to buy or post anything for a week from the 18th to the 25th,because ebay & paypal are changing the rules

But more important is the question about the setup...How?

Thanks In advance
John (aka bacpro)

You can remove paypal as a payment option altogether. In your settings remove the ebay checkout. When you sign up with firstdata they will link you to another company they run called securnetshop. They have a shopping cart.
The traditional shopping cart is free. But you can choose to pay extra for the advanced shopping cart with all the options. I prefer this because I can also put my own banners in the shopping cart and guide buyers to my Real Website If I choose. This is another way to bring your ebay buyers to your own website.

If you do high volume then the advanced shopping cart is the way to go.

Now in your listings you can choose to use their link or create your own payment buttons and just add the link on your own payment buttons.

One of my layouts took a lot of time to master. I went from having about 30 questions a day on how to make a credit card payment to about 1 a week. So it's best you have this link in your auction several times. You can even link the payment gateway to any text you may have in your listing.

I have 1 payment button all 3 of my credit card logos can go to that link as well and I have text that will follow that link.

Also make sure you have your address listed there so they can send you checks. I take in close to 50 checks a week. This will curb the appetite of those that do not want to use a credit card but still want to purchase your items. I do like this very much because there is no processing fee for a check. Don't worry about harsh regulations on holding checks. I have taken in over 1000 check over the years and have never had a bad one.

I just completed my fourth transaction with merchantinc.com =) Transaction goes really smoothly and the best part is NO PAYPAL. It does take some time to set it but it is all worth it. I recommend their service. I no longer accept paypal on all my listings on ebay and I just finished setting it up yesterday and right away, I completed 4 transaction in the amount of $1000+. I really don't think it affects my sales without accepting paypal =)

Paymate.com is really good I start using them instead of Paypal.

Paypal are not telling the truth which is they keep saying buyers or sellers covered by 3000$ which is not in the reality.

I bought items worth 2500$ and received 900$ at the end but the one who helped me to get a full refund is my Visa credit card with my Bank, they refunded me my whole money from Paypal.

So, guys make sure when you buy anything using paypal use your credit card because paypal default method is they debit your bank account so you are not covered in this case while if u use your visa you can refund your money if something goes wrong.
