The sell-through rate is one of the key indicators of how well your product will sell in your chosen market, so this is usually the first thing I check. This week’s niche had a sell-through rate of 58.89% which convinced me to investigate further into waterproof jackets.
Median End Price: Is there enough room for profit?
The median end price of waterproof jackets in June was $35.83. Depending on the material and type you can actually source waterproof jackets for a little over $20, leaving good room for profits. The median end price on eBay can be ambiguous since it can include bulk listings that sell two or more waterproof jackets in a single listing. Having various types, style and brands will also affect the data, it’s a good thing our Research Labs has a snapshot feature which shows you the Average and the Average Buy It Now prices. As shown in the image below prices are actually much higher.
Total Listings, Total Bids and Total Sellers: How viable is your market?
339 bids for the entire month of June may not seem much but with only 90 listings available, I’m sure you will definitely think again. So is the market viable, I believe so!
Data Trends: Are sellers hitting their target?
The highest recorded revenue for June was $635.43. This isn't a huge figure, but take note that not a day went by without a sale showing a constant demand for waterproof jackets.

What do these numbers mean?
I was a bit surprised to see how relatively low the search count was for waterproof jackets within the US, but reassured that there were 9,900 searches made globally! This shows that there is a viable market even beyond eBay and if done right this is a good source of traffic for my eBay listings and/or online store.
