Hi guys,

I am currently looking for a dropshipper for XBOX 360 videogames and consoles who dropship to Australia and was wanting to use Computer Gallery. However after conducting some research I discovered that all of the XBOX 360 games and consoles they carry are in NTSC format which would not be compatable here in Australia which uses the PAL format.
Can anyone reccommend a reputable supplier of these products that dropship within Australia?

Secondly as an alternative would it be possible to list items from Computer Gallery on ebay.com for resale within the United States and generate profits even though I am physically based in Australia?

Kind Regards,Watchman.

Hi watchman,

I tried to search for UK and HongKong dropshippers (as they are in PAL system) that can send to Australia. I found around 4 suppliers but unfortunately none of them have Xbox 30 products (consoles nor games) available.

I cannot guarantee that you can make big profits dropshipping electronics. They are relatively expensive with very low profit margins, and in order to make sufficient profits, I would strongly recommend looking at buying wholesale or liquidation. Or even better - finding another product to sell altogether. As for video games, the market is fairly saturated and you will find tough competition selling them in Ebay. You can view the ‘hotness’ level of ‘video games’ keyword using SaleHoo’s Research Lab and you will see that the supply pretty much covers the current demand.

Let me know if you would like me to suggest some other products to sell that would be better suited to drop shipping.

Kind regards,

Irene

Hi watchman,

I'm in the video game market on ebay oz myself. We buy in wholesale volume to create margin, and even then our margins can get quite tight when we are head to head against a big seller.

I don't know of anyone who is drop shipping PAL format, but I can only imagine that the margin would be extremely low if you did find someone. Not sure why your focus is on 360 games, but just to share some of our tracking data with you, 360 are our worst performed titles.

Wii is our best, followed some way behind with PS3, but 360 for us personally runs a very distant third, only just out performing PC games. That's a collation of 3 months worth of data.

We're so unimpressed by the numbers that we are reducing our buy in of 360 and now increasing our Wii range.

Hi Irene,

Thank you for your reply to my recent email, the information was most helpful.
I was aware that there is a high percentage of sellers already selling videogames on ebay but thought that as this was an area I was passionate about and have had some limited success in I would exhaust all efforts to start a business before giving up.

Having said that perhaps dropshipping videogames is not the best option and maybe sourcing videogame wholesalers within Australia is a better way to go.I would appreciate any help with this.

I would also welcome any suggestions on alternative products to sell on ebay.

Kind regards,Watchman

Hi fudjj,

The small sucess I have had with selling videogames on ebay has been with the XBOX 360 titles. After seeing games like Gears of War and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 selling well I naturally assumed that these products would be profitable.

However perhaps concentrating on one brand of videogame is unwise and I am now trying to source wholesalers within Australia with a broader range of titles for resale.

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,Wathman

Hi Watchman,

I realized we've been communicating both through forum posts and ticket emails. I can respond through this posts just so you will not have to spend more time sending the same messages twice. :)

Take a look at this IT distributor in Australia. Link hidden: Login to view
Since they also dropship, you may decide on something that you can use from their services.

Surprisingly within Australia I cannot find any wholesalers for video games. I land on retailers most of the time. And from my search I learned that the PAL system games are much more expensive than NTSCs. :)

I will try to spend more time on your need (Australia based video games wholesalers) and hopefully will have luck in my search. I will let you know as soon as I can.

Have a nice day!

We've found a few very popular 360 titles, Borderlands, Forza3 to name a couple, but yeah, our data indicates that it's not a strong market, but of course you have to balance that against the titles we did carry, our price, the market at the time and so on, and I am unfortunately unable to give up that sort of trading data : )

I'm sure there is still 360 titles there that are good sellers, but I think looking at the market as a whole is a better plan. Same as everything really, if you cover as much as you can then you'll be in a position to gather your own data over time, and then start to narrow your focus to increase your take.

No great surprise that Irene is struggling to find wholesalers here in Oz, most volume purchasing here comes direct from distributors, and you are talking about buying in serious volume for them to even consider taking you on to supply.

You mention looking at wholesale, if you do have money to invest in stock, and I am not making any promises, but PM me with a broad outline of what you're really do want to cover initially, the sort of money you have to invest, and I'll see if I can point you in a half decent direction.

Cheers

Hi fudjj,

Taking your advice I am now looking at a more broader range of games across the board including perhaps pc games.I've read that firstperson shooters are popular but again I won't limit myself solely to that genre.

As I am just starting out I don't have a huge amount of resources to invest initially(about $1000) to purchase my first order of stock but hopefully that may be enough to get started.Again any suggestions will be welcome.

Cheers,Watchman.
