The idea of drop shipping is a very appealing way to get started in eBay. However, figuring shipping costs if the drop shipper is no where near my location shown has me baffled since a buyer will be calculating shipping costs from where they are located in relation to where I, as the eBay seller am located and not the drop shipping company.

For example, let's say I'm in L.A. and and my buyer is also in L.A., but the product will be drop shipped from Florida. When the buyer goes to eBay to calculate shipping costs, it will automatically calculate L.A. to L.A. not Florida. So, the shipping cost will be much higher than what was calculated.

What am I missing? Please advise.

Thank you!

Hi Glenn and welcome to the forum,

You shipping quoting problem seems to be directly related to your location setting. It doesn't matter where you are personally located, the location on the listing must be set from where the item is actually being delivered from, that's actual eBay policy to do so. Even then, as you aren't the one shipping the item, you will have to confirm shipping rates with your dropshipper themselves as they are the ones shipping the items.

Ok, thank you, I did not see in eBay where to set the location of each individual listing. Please advise. Thank you.

You'll find that on the listing page itself, down near the bottom of the page it will have the change location option that you can set.

Cheers

Hi Marc very interesting...

I was a new seller on eBay, my question is what if we sell the goods of a company that is not Dropshipper, for example I sell goods from China via DHgate.com then sell it on eBay? is there any information I can get about how to sell items on eBay from a company that is not a Dropshipper?

Thank you very much

Hi Yudistira,

I think I've covered this in your previous post relating to wholesale, but let me know if you want me to go into more detail for you.

Cheers
