Hi Gregorio,

Welcome to Salehoo! It's great to have you on board. If you're looking for cheap, generic products, then it should be safe to deal with Chinese suppliers. If you're looking for brand name goods, however, we suggest that you proceed with caution as the majority of brand name goods that come from China are either replicas or fakes.

If you haven't yet, check out this article:

In addition, here are some simple things you can do to protect yourself when dealing with ANY supplier:

1. Run a whois check on the supplier's website to verify when it was created (it is safest to deal with suppliers who have been online at least a year), who owns the domain, and where the domain was registered (the country should match the contact details on the supplier's website). We recommend using Link hidden: Login to view (replace salehoo.com with the url of the supplier).
2. Search the SaleHoo forum for the supplier's website/company name and see what other members have to say.
3. Call the supplier's telephone numbers to ensure they are genuine.
4. Purchase a sample before bulk ordering to ensure that the item meets your expectations.
5. Watch out for sellers asking you to 'safeguard' your purchase by sending your money transfer in the name of a friend or loved one, or by establishing a 'test question'. These actions will not protect you from a fraudulent seller.
6. Low prices do not necessarily mean fraud, but radically low prices should warrant a closer look. If a price seems to good to be true, it probably is. Ask the seller as many questions about the item's authenticity as you can before you go any further.
7. Always use a credit card or Paypal to purchase goods. These forms of payment are safe because they give you a comeback if something goes wrong. With these payment methods, you can usually have the transaction reversed fairly easily if necessary.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

I have used DHgate on several occassions and as long as youse find a good supplier they are ok. I will recommend that you stay away from movies and electronics on here because they are very poor bootleg copies, and will get you suspended from ebay (my wife learned the hard way). Also I will tell you to stay away from these sellers because they are crooks:

wangtoatoa2008
crazyseller
allanhua
netmarket
mini_home
freeshop
wholesale200918
cest
fawangfa

If anyone else has had problems with sellers off DHgate please list them so that we all know the ones to stay away from.

There are many good sellers on Dhgate but you have to do your research. Check out their feedback, not just look at the numbers but read the negative and see how they handled disputes it will save you lots of money time and aggrivation, trust me I know through experience

Any time I think that we all need to get together and tell the bad ones on DHgate. I still use them and think that they do have good suppliers. If we can pull our strengths we could hurt the bad ones bad enough where it would not benefit them to stay on DHgate, plus maybe it will open Dhgate's eyes and get them to conrol their site better so they would be more beneficial to us

Can anyone recommend a good, honest supplier from DH Gate? At first the site really caught my attention, due to the vast number of suppliers and the huge choice of goods/merchandise. The first 2 I bought from, were both trying to sell fakes, and I am in dispute with both. I am looking for a supplier of either toys or household/kitchenware/small appliances, that is reputable. Can anyone recommend?

Hi,

I've been buying from DH for awhile now, and it does seem that just about EVERYTHING is a fake lol. This doesn't mean that the quality is bad - they can be perfect replicas in a lot of cases where you couldn't pick the difference. One seller I would highly reccomend working with is Nick from myeshop on DH. I've been buying from him for 3 months and I've found him to be extremely helpful. He has excellent English and goes out of his way to make it an easy transaction.

One seller I wouldn't reccomend is 'honest1688 '. I bought from them, 2 days after I paid they sent me the shipping information. When it hadn't arrived I checked the shipping number with EMS and the number turned out to be invalid. When I contacted the seller they told me that the item had been seized by Chinese customs and that we would both now lose our money. I contacted another seller I buy from on DH and he checked it out for me...the item was actually never posted. He said that is often one of the tricks used - say it was seized by customs - which often means they ran out of stock so are using that excuse. At the moment I'm entered in a dispute with this seller. Upon first contact their English was fine...funnily enough it seems to have fallen apart lol.

Hi,

Does anyone know an honest, reputable supplier at DHgate that sells high quality fragrances and perfume. I have seen some that have pretty good feedback and some are powersellers, but I am not sure if the quality of the fragrance would be what I am looking for. If anyone has dealt with an honest supplier that sells perfume, please let me know. Thank you.

Perhaps you can try Link hidden: Login to view they accept payment via PayPal, so I think it's safe.

I visited the site you recommended, cnshow and they seem like a smaller DH Gate with various sellers for different products. I did notice 2 things though -

1. The site links like Sign Up, Join Free, Community and Help didn't work.
2. There were many categories that had no inventory at all.

They have been online since 2004 and by the looks of it, the site seems unmaintained. But in fairness to the site, I was not able to find any negative reviews online...

Accepting PayPal does not always make a supplier 100% safe. There are also other factors that you may want to consider like site age, level of customer service - contact info provided/accessibility, reviews and feedbacks.

:)

I buy directly from the sources as in I have an a agent there to outsource products in China that finds what I want. Take a picture or webcam it to me and send it to me by mail.

This I find more better to do than to rely on the hope that they are legit. But then again I run an import / export business and I started out doing that when I started. So to give some advice. Do not use places like DHGATE or Others if you are looking for real items.

Having a local agent is often a big advantage, especially in China where not only the actual distance is a barrier but the language itself!

Good advice, but remember that China overall is not a place for buying any brand name items - online or offline just simply isn't the place to go to.
