Do any wholesalers deal with people who dont have a company name or tax ID number. If so does anyone have any examples?

Hi Nathan and welcome to the forum,

No GENUINE wholesaler will deal with anyone without a tax id, very standard practice to get an account. Some dropshippers still do, but even they are getting harder to find now, with many of them also now requiring a tax id as proof of you being a registered trader.

Hi Nathan,

Welcome to the forum! Large wholesale suppliers require you to have one to avoid tax audit problems. You can sometimes purchase from a wholesaler without a company name or a sales tax ID. If you do so, a sales tax will be charged on your end as though you are the end user.

You can actually filter out your SaleHoo supplier search to show only wholesalers that don't require an ID. You can do this at Link hidden: Login to view and simply click on the drop-down menu found right below the product categories.

Some examples below:

Hope this helps.

I actually found quite a few companies have don't require but when you read the listing is says you do so the searches whilst handy don't really work if they tell you one thing (not required) and do another (require it)

I live in Pennsylvania. Will eventually be opening an online webstore. What all do I need in the state of Pa. to sell online in regards to tax ID, permits, etc? I will be basically a one person operation with some help from my spouse.

Hi Curtis and welcome to the forum,

You can apply for a EIN id online here Link hidden: Login to view

From how you describe your trading entity, I would suggest the Sole Proprietor Application

Cheers

Hello,

Do you recommend getting a tax id# just to re-sell on eBay??

Thanks in advance,

Hi Danin and welcome to the forum.

If you deal with a supplier who doesn't require the tax id, then that's a personal call on your side. Not everyone who deals on eBay has a tax id, it's really a personal choice as to how you set up your business.

Cheers
