I recently joined SaleHoo a few weeks ago. I joined because I was interested in becoming a dropshipper. I looked through many suppliers and found one I liked. I signed up for dropshipping through them. I also created an eBay account which I was able to integrate with. I was able to post products for sale and I thought everything was going good. Now I guess my eBay account is suspended. I guess I have no clue what I'm doing. Any ideas?

Hi Carly,

Can you tell me what eBay said exactly and also the name of the supplier you used from our directory, the link to their profile page will do.

Cheers

Hello carho0606_9,
After reviewing your eBay account, recent activity has raised serious security concerns. As a result, we've taken the following action on your account:
- Your eBay account has been suspended.
- Item listings have been removed. A list of removed items is available further down in this email.

You won't be able to use eBay in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account. Any outstanding selling fees are due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.

We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm -- however unintentionally -- to the eBay community.

when i started with ebay you need to find a certain business model cuz yes they will suspend your account if your account is just starting buy something to get your stars up sell small thing first to get there trust i know these things with them

as long is you keep your feedback at 100% keep going

you may have to ask for them to increse your selling limit

I agree 100 per cent I never trusted ebay, I tried buying something on there and got the run around from them and the seller who had a trusted rating etc. Thanks for this post.

The same here. Mine was suspended a month ago without knowing an apparent cause, and I got the same message from eBay like yours too.

Action like this is usually the result of suspect listings, so eBay remove them and suspend your account while details are verified. The very first thing you need to do is to contact eBay and see what information they require for clarification. It will most likely be a suppliers name and or product authentication proof.

I did contact them immediately - the same day after suspension. But they did not tell me an exact cause. They just suggested me that I'd better look for other platforms to sell things, and that's it! Lol

That's quite bizarre, I wouldn't be accepting that as a response. You should contact the eBay Trust and Saftey Commission and ask for clarification on your suspension. I've never heard of anyone ever being denied that before.

Marc,

eBay has thousands of reasons to suspend accounts, and I am not alone. After 3 times of my attempted contact them to clarify what went wrong, but no success. Maybe I am a newbie or something that I did it wrong unintentionally, but they did not tell me what was it. I'm serious.

Im not suggesting that you're not serious, I'm just saying that I wouldn't personally accept no reason for my suspension. You're entiled to know why your account has been suspended, I wqent through the process of a suspension and cancellation of my account years ago and I had it reinstated. Despite what people think, eBay don't have thousands of reasons to suspend ana ccount, they have some very specific reasons.

There seems no doubt that you've tripped over one of them, but without knowing which one, you have no clear path to having your account reinstalled. It may well be that you've tripped a serious red flag, fake products or something like that. Probably no way back from that, especially if you've been picked up by a licensed copyright holer or something, but you at least deserve to know why,

Yes, maybe you're right. I personally think anything could happen to cause an account suspended, especially the newbies, but it depends; however, they sometimes wouldn't tell you what exactly happened, or they don't want to make a big deal out of it - no need - unless something is very serious. They just simply say "Well, we're sorry and there is no way you can reinstate your account - goodbye & good luck"

Well ultimately the decision is up to you in regards to how far you want to take it to get answers of course. It sounds to me like it's a counterfeit problem, they come down expectionally on counterfeit products in particular and that is one area we usually see newbies get into trouble with.

Were you using a SaleHoo berified supplier?

If yes, can you give me their name so I can check it out from our end please.

So far I went through with 2 suppliers, Starlinkgifts & Banggood, the 3rd one that I am working on is Novatech Wholesale, and still awaiting their approval.

OK, so all the listings you had on eBay were from Banggood and Starlinkgifts?

Can you tell me which products they were please?

No, I mainly sourced products from Home Depot, and that was the only one I had before. These two (2) suppliers, Starlinkgifts & Banggood, I just happened to know them recently since I've joined SaleHoo.

OK, so just to confirm that you didn't have any products listed from either of our suppliers at the time of the suspension?

Home Depot should be safe enough, I would be shocked if it was one of their products that caused the suspension, but then again, nothing should surprise me anymore lol. It's starting to sound like it wasn't product related at all maybe.

How long have you been selling on eBay and what was your DSR across the board like?

I joined eBay in April of 2016. I've started a dropshipping course online, and after a month of doing dropshipping, my seller DSR was excellent with several 5-star ratings, which is very encouraging for me as a newbie in town. Just like many others, I thought I started growing business successfully within eBay world like a dream without thinking this would lead to my account suspended in one beautiful morning when I woke up ...lol. Anyway, I hope one door closes, another one opens.

How about you? Are you still actively selling on eBay? And what do you think about selling on Bonanza, Marc?

You know the more you tell me about this situation, the more confused I am about what on earth could have possibly caused the suspension, it's completely bizarre to me!

I do still sell on eBay, but only part time of late. I kind of get withdrawl symptons if I'm out of the market too much lol. I'll be going full-time again very shortly with my own range of products that I am having custom made for me. I'm a bit of a control freak and that gives me complete control over my market so if anything stuffs up, the blame is on myself :)

My theory with all sites, Bonanza included is if they have no up-front listing fees, then all you have to lose if your investment in the time it takes to list the items. Now you're never going to get the same traffic flow through a Bonanza that you are through an eBay of course, so your potential sales are never going to be in the same ball-park.

But it's all about maximising your online footprint as cheaply as possible, so if you have the time to invest in establishing yourself on these smaller marketplaces, then you have ZERO to lose. That aside, if more poeple get behind these smaller market-places then they will grow and that can only benifit everyone, sellers and buyers alike.

So you can look at it from nboth sides, nothing to lose and you're doing your bit to drive up trafic flow and increase competition for the big guys and force them to then be a more competitive market place for sellers, not just for buyers as they currently are. Just keep your expectations in check, as I said, smaller traffic flow equals smaller potential sales in the pipeline.

One bit of advice, never let a customer purchase anything without getting them on mailing list. Every time you make a sale, that is another potential sale waiting to be made, so you need to build up a mailing list of customers and develop a mail out to them once a month with sime special offers to encourage more business.

This is where having your own website is also an advantage, because you then have a site you can direct them to for all future purchases and start saving on all fees associated with selling on other market-places. It take time to build up a customer base, but if you do it right, it can be a lot quicker than most expect as customers have family and friends and if you target them effectively, you'll have your customer spreading teh word for you

Marketing 101, turing a customer into a sales channel :)
